ICYMI: Packers announce OTAs, minicamp and training camp schedules

Mark your calendars: the Packers have announced most of their remaining offseason schedule.

With offseason team activities, minicamp and training camp to look forward to, the news should surely appease many of those licking their chops at the thought of Packer football.

It was announced by the organization on Thursday that the Packers would report to training camp on July 26 - a day ahead of their 2016 date - and have their first practice the following day at a somewhat renovated Ray Nitschke Field.

There will be a full announcement likely in mid-June for the remainder of the training camp dates.

Prior to training camp, the Packers begin their OTAs 11 days from now on May 22 and they will run through June 9. They'll have open practices on select dates in that span.

The open practices are on May 23, June 1 and June 6. However, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette noted that "ongoing field preparations" will prevent OTAs and minicamp from being held at Nitschke Field. Consequently, the dates prior to training camp will take place at Hinkle Field.

The team's mandatory minicamp schedule runs through June 13-15. Each minicamp practice will be open to the public.

There will likely be some form of team-building exercise somewhere during the course of OTAs. For example, head coach Mike McCarthy took the team bowling a year ago and a few times prior to that, they played dodgeball.

Another announcement to expect near the end of this month will be the date of the Packers' annual Family Night, which is a live scrimmage in front of roughly 70,000 people packed into Lambeau Field. The practice itself should be at the end of July.

With today's announcements, there are just a few stepping stones left before the Packers and their newest team additions hit the practice field for the on-looking spectators, giving them a brief glimpse of what's to come in 2017.
