2022 Packers Stock Report: Week 17

Take a look at the stock report for the Green Bay Packers after a 41-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17.

I'll admit that I was incredibly confident that the Green Bay Packers were going to win this football game.

I did not, however, think that it would be as much of a butt-kicking as it ended up being.

I can't complain. Actually, I'll do the opposite.

Everything from the kickoff return touchdown, pick-six, Za'Darius Smith's saltiness and Jaire Alexander locking up Justin Jefferson was just... *chef's kiss.*

And now? It's win and the Packers are in.

So let's get into the stock report for the Green Bay Packers after a 41-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17.

BUY

Jaire Alexander- I'll be the first to admit that when Jaire Alexander called Justin Jefferson's first game of the season a fluke last week, I became incredibly nervous. That's the type of stuff star players put on a bulletin board and use for motivation. But Alexander talked the talk -- and walked the walk. He shut down Jefferson, holding him to just one catch for 15 yards. Alexander's mixed up looks (sometimes playing off, sometimes jamming at the line) gave both Kirk Cousins and Jefferson fits. That's the type of play we expected to see all season from the highest-paid cornerback in the league.

Offensive line- This was a complete turnaround from Week 1. The offensive line has been solid over these last four games, and, with David Bakhtiari back in the lineup, that stellar play continued on Sunday. The pass rushing duo of Danielle Hunter and Za'Darius Smith was nowhere to be seen. Yosh Nijman left the game again early and Zach Tom (like he's done all season) filled in nicely. There's still some work to be done in the run game with the interior of the unit, but it's good to see the Packers have six guys that can perform at a high level together. Buy.

Kenny Clark- Now THAT is the Kenny Clark we've all come to know and love. I understand that much of his work Sunday was against backups, but he fought through many double teams and took advantage of mismatches, posting four pressures, a strip sack and the recovery. This defensive unit is really rounding out, and part of the reason is because the stars of this defense are finally starting to play like stars.

Keisean Nixon- Maybe the best kick returner in the league? The numbers say so. So awesome to see the Ferrari take off and finally earn a touchdown. Buy.

SELL

Grass- I mean, come on everybody, how is it fair that a dome team has to go outside and play on grass? That shouldn't be allowed. I don't care that both teams had to play on the same level playing field, did you see all the players in white and purple slipping all day? It's clearly why the Minnesota Vikings lost the game. Turf only please, from now on. (This is sarcasm, please enjoy the laugh I got from reading through salty Minnesota fans' tweets).

HOLD

Aaron Rodgers- This is one of the first times in Aaron Rodgers' career that the Packers are winning and it's not solely because of him. Rodgers has put up pretty pedestrian numbers for his standards this season, and that continued on Sunday. He's doing just enough to help the Packers win, but it's clear that the days of him throwing for 350+ yards and 3 touchdowns are long gone. I'm putting him on hold for now, because I'm gambling on him delivering this Sunday against the Lions in an important moment. He'll be eager to exact reveng after one of the worst performances of his career in the previous meeting between the two teams. So I'm advising you hold on to his stock just a little longer.

Buy: Gunnar, you said, "Yosh Nijman left the game again early and Zach Tom (like he's done all season) filled in nicely."

Tom didn't see the field for the first few weeks. Took the staff THAT long to figure it out? What a great find.

Sell: The Vikings.

Hold: Rodgers did run for a TD. He did a QB sneak too. Glad we don't have to give up on him yet.

"I mean, come on everybody, how is it fair that a dome team has to go outside and play on grass? That shouldn't be allowed. "

<<recognizing the sarcasm>>

Why should players need to play on knee-eating, career shortening, shitty turf fields?

When you choose to play in a dome in a league where more than half the teams play outside, you're getting what you're signing up for.

Maybe some of the owners should bring the idea to NFL to form different divisions. For teams playing on the grass and for team playing in the domes...

BUY - I agree on OL, Kenny and Jaire, Nixon, but I would like to add Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and Douglas and Allen Lazard. Also, I would like to honorably mention ST unit (Crosby is part of the unit, does he?) as whole and ACR. Not because he played the best game, but because he was the part of the winning team. And he was not that for a long time. He had QB sneak and scored TD on the ground. Also, that pass to Tonyan was beautifull, reminds of his past passes of old.

SELL - MLF who wanted to try hail Mary instead to send Mason to field this FG from 56 yards without even considering that option. Whatever he wanted it would be nice if he asked Mason and RB about possibiity. And than make the decision. He showed once again that he is not HC, but OC after all.

HOLD - Joe Barry, just to see if he learned something from this game and will he apply that knowledge in future games.

I'm sure he doesn't like the performance at Detroit with Ints in the endzone. I believe he comes with fire.

“ I believe he comes with fire.” I hope that it is a controlled fire. We were burned by his interceptions last game.

No doubt Rodgers is going into this with something to prove - which I think bodes well for our chances. Unfortunately I've seen my share of Lions ruining the Packer's Fans' day (I'm looking at you Thanksgiving Day 2013 of which we will no longer speak) to think anything about this game will be a gimme. On the other hand I'm happy to see Goff doing well since I always route for the under dog, but he doesn't have the best track record prior to this year. I'm going into it with the expectation of a nail biter and the hope of a repeat performance of our game against the Vikings last weekend (which my doctor says was very good for my blood pressure). Green Bay is definitely not the same team that played these two divisional rivals at the beginning of the year.

PS: Get well Hamlin.

Rodgers is no longer putting up gaudy numbers, but is still a maestro on the field. Got Minny with 10 men and Minny with 12 men. McCarthy and MLF have both raved about his checks out of called plays that ended up well. He can still make the crazy good throw and hopefully, the thumb is healing and he can continue on an upward progression.

I will be the first to admit, I had given up hope 5 games ago, and was just wanting the hammer to mercifully drop, so to begin the era of Love. So happy we have this chance to watch the Pack make this comeback.

How ‘bout a thumbs-up for Tonyan. He looked the best he has all year. If we can continue to count on him, the options in the passing game become another layer of concern for the defenders.
Go Packers!!

I would definitely have his number called at least 5-6 times for this contest.
