2025 Senior Bowl Offers Options for Packers
TCU Wide Receiver Jack Bech catches the game-winning touchdown in Saturday's 2025 Senior Bowl. Bech was Senior Bowl Offensive MVP and an intriguing wide receiver prospect for the Packers.

This past week Green Bay General Manager Brian Gutekunst was in Mobile, AL for the Senior Bowl, which has been a regular source of draft prospects for the Packers.
Many of the current players on the rosters were players who played in the Senior Bowl. Last year, eight of the Packers draft picks were Senior Bowl attendees: Josh Morgan, Javon Bullard, Marshawn Lloyd, Evan Williams, Kitan Oladapo, Travis Glover, Michael Pratt and Kalen King. Tyronn Hopper was invited to last year’s Senior Bowl but was unable to attend because of injury.
My top performers at the Senior Bowl (Packers specific):
• TCU WR Jack Bech
• Utah State WR Jalen Royals
• FSU CB Azareye'h Thomas
• Kentucky CB Maxwell Hairston
• Louisville CB Quincy Riley
• Texas A&M edge Shemar Stewart
• BC edge Donavan Ezeiruaku
• Arkansas edge… pic.twitter.com/ytVANJI0VZ— Eli Berkovits (@BookOfEli_NFL) January 31, 2025
A hot-button position since the end of the season for many has been wide receiver. The Packers have had tremendous success in the draft with wide receivers, specifically in Rounds 2 thru 4. Since 2006, the Packers have drafted the following players in those middle rounds: Greg Jennings, James Jones, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, Ty Montgomery, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed.
...love this group of WR prospects. Tough bunch
Jayden Higgins 217lbs
Jack Bech 212lbs
Jalen Royals 210lbs

The Packers met with three wide receivers this week, Jayden Higgins (6-3, 210) and Jaylin Noel of Iowa State (5-10, 200) and Jaylen Royals (6-0, 210) Utah State. Both Higgins and Noel were very productive in 2024 for the Cyclones (Higgins 87 catches, 1,183 yards and 9 touchdowns; Noel 80 catches, 1,194 yards and 8 touchdowns).

Big, long WR w/ fluid movement skills. Stood out in Mobile with his route pacing & ability to sell his routes before exploding out of his breaks. He uses his size incredibly well at the catch point to maximize his 6'4" frame. pic.twitter.com/aZXrccFQlK

Meanwhile, Royals’ season totals were 55 catches, 834 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was much more productive in 2023, finishing the season with 71 catches, 1,080 yards and 15 touchdowns. Royals plays like a bigger version of Jayden Reed, but the question would be could he play as both an outside and inside wide receiver. There is also the obvious Utah State connection to quarterback Jordan Love.

Another wide receiver who stood out this week in Mobile who has “Packers Wide Receiver” written all over him is TCU’s Jack Bech (6-2, 215). He was named Senior Bowl Offensive MVP and finished the game with a walk-off touchdown catch.
Jack Bech was one of the WRs on the American Roster that I highlighted for Packers fans to get to know before the start of @seniorbowl week.
The TCU WR had himself a week.

Bech did not meet with the Packers, but a likely Day 2 pick, Bech is another big body wide receiver who could play in a role like former Packer Allen Lazard. In 2024, Bech finished with 62 catches, 1,034 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Jack Bech is the most unique WR near the top of the 2025 NFL Draft.
He’s a converted tight end playing X receiver and is a nuanced, physical route runner at 6’2 215lbs.
Boasts just a 1.6% drop rate with a gaudy 68.4% contested catch rate. Also the best run blocker in the class. pic.twitter.com/q5EBAizhle

The Packers will likely be addressing their two big defensive needs (Defensive Line and Cornerback) in both free agency and early in the draft. Since becoming general manager 2018, Gutekunst has used valuable picks on both spots often: First round – 2018 Jaire Alexander, 2019 Rashan Gary, 2021Eric Stokes, 2022 Devonte Wyatt, 2023 Lukas Van Ness; Second Round – 2018 Josh Jackson, 2024 Javon Bullard (slot corner/safety).
Mike Green run defense has some playmaking too… Really fun player to study.
Can’t put my finger on who he reminds me of… pic.twitter.com/bBNGbdkraV

A few players from Senior Bowl week who could spark interest were Defensive Lineman Texas A&M - Shemar Stewart, Marshall - Mike Green of Marshall, Boston College - Donavan Ezeiruaku, Toledo - Darius Alexander, Ole Miss - Walter Nolen of Ole Miss and Cornerbacks Trey Amos of Ole Miss and Azareye’h Thomas of Florida State.

Don't sleep on Gray Zabel. Voted most outstanding player during practice week by 28 of 32 GM's in attendance.

If we're going to take a WR relatively early, I'd rather choose a prospect with some electricity than another physically imposing one that is tall and heavy. And they don't need to play in the Senior Bowl, either. Just taking a cursory look at some of the prospects, I kind of like what Matthew Golden of Texas brings: speed, versatility, deep threat, big YAC potential, and the ability to make circus catches--which may come in handy with Love's placement sometimes. He's not useful as a run blocker, but we have guys who can do that. Also can be guilty of drops occasionally, so LOL, he'll fit right in with the need for coaching here.

In 2014 - TT went with Adams,Abbrederis, and Janis.
And before that he had Johnson and Dorsey in 2013.
Before that Randall Cobb.
The next step is WR.- He'd start.
