Aaron Rodgers writes on involvement with Wounded Warrior Project

The quarterback writes on his first encounter with the group and his long-time appreciation for the military.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has written a piece over on The Players Tribune, in partnership with Sharpie, about his involvement with the Wounded Warrior Project.

In it, Rodgers describes his first encounter with the group and his appreciation for the military.

From Rodgers:

I remember standing there, watching them hit balls. One warrior was a double-leg amputee. Others had lost an arm, or an eye, or were overcoming various other disabilities and challenges. And while I found myself marveling at their ability to hit the ball, what really struck me was the joy that these men and women took in getting back to doing something they had loved to do before they were in the service — before their injuries.

What I took from that experience was the idea of perspective. How special the little things are — simple things, like the ability to hit a golf ball.

Things many of us take for granted.

Well when I read the words "in partnership with Sharpie" this just puts me in the corner of Jordan Rodgers even more. Jordan was the one that basically said his brother was a fake, an actor and most of the things he does is for money and PR etc? I see this as yet another example of Jordan telling the truth quite frankly. When Aaron Rodgers does something without a corporate sponsor behind him maybe I'll believe his actions match his PC goodie two shoes words.

Now I am supposed to believe Mr. Rodgers is this great pro military guy when last year he asked/told/requested/ an entire crowd of 80,000 people to stand hand in hand against the President, who WAS the guy actually in support of the military? My entire reason for my change with Rodgers has to do with that single incident that night. It also was one of my most proudest moments as a football fan watching those 80,000 football fans at Lambeau defy Mr. Rodgers request and instead of holding hands against the President and the military, they proudly stood, put their hands over their hearts and looked at that flag and all sang The National Anthem like they never sung before. I had tears that night watching that moment. Rodgers had anger and disbelief on his face as he peeked up at the scoreboard and realized nobody was doing what he wanted done.

Instead of Sharpie trying to make Mr. Rodgers look good with the military, they would have been better asking Aaron Jones to represent them as his mother and dad are both lifetime military members. Of course they wouldn't do that as Rodgers is better known and Sharpie would sell more Sharpies. Not impressed sorry.

Samson, please be respectful of my opinion. Unless you actually are the age in your picture that was pretty childish response. You can do better.

Please be respectful towards our President. That's all I ask. If you can't refer to him as President than please don't comment. So far no rational responses.

Thank you,

Please have respect for a person's opinion Lphill. I didn't call you an "ass" and now a "loser" like you did with me. I might give out nicknames of the coach for strictly fun purposes but I don't attack and swear at people. Please be respectful. Now tell me what you disagree with what I wrote? Stick to my content which is rock solid. Always is. Thank you,

Dash you don’t like Lafleur , you think Rodgers is done and you think Tim Boyle is a NFL caliber QB , have you even looked at his college numbers? So I suspect your a Vikings fan trolling here spewing your nonsense here because maybe it takes your mind off the fact that you are stuck with Kirk Cousins. But no way do I think for a minute your a Packers fan . I call it like it is.

What does this have to do with what I just wrote about my backing of Jordan Rodgers and his thoughts that his brother is pretty much a fake doing all these things for PR and money? Lets save your "I'm a Viking fan" for another day ok? Again, our President is pro military. The NFL and Rodgers last year were totally defiant against standing for The National Anthem. That's why people like me and many others quit watching the NFL. This year the President saved the NFL from themselves. The networks quit showing the stupid protests and thankfully the people have returned.

Rodgers was not this big pro military person. Far from it. Now he comes along and with his sponsor Sharpie on his side, he's suddenly this big pro military guy? Sorry, but I don't forget what he did last year so I wanted to remind everyone what he did so people can see that Jordan Rodgers and what he said about his brother was and still is pretty spot on. I simply sided with Jordan. I know, he's the bad guy and so am I. I am now old enough to spot bull shit when I see it. When there's sponsors behind it it's not from the heart. That was Jordan's true message.

Typically when an athlete pairs with a corporate sponsor in a partnership for a charitable cause, it's the corporate sponsor who is using the athlete for exposure, and the athlete is pairing with the corporate sponsor in order to increase the amount of money and resources to be donated.

Sure, the Athlete gets some positive PR too.. but generally, the PR and financial incentives are greatest for the sponsor, not the athlete.

All that aside.. I believe everything Rodgers does is a calculated move.

100 percent it's a calculated move. I agree. Also the only rational response so far.

Things aren't always as they appear on the surface Lp. If something doesn't appear to make sense, it may if you consider the possibility that someone is benefitting from it.

What Lare is trying to say is he agrees with me. Rodgers is benefiting from this financially but is doing so under the disguise of being this big pro military person. Lare I don't know why you had to beat around the bush. I even gave you a rare like. Is it that hard to say you agree with me? Jeesus.

Forget politics. As a disabled veteran myself, I am glad for these programs. The standing for the anthem thing is a different subject. I stand because I am proud of this nation. I leave it to others to fuss over what it means.

Wow, just wow. How much time, energy and money have you all donated to the charity of your choice lately? My guess is not much if any( including myself) to put Rodgers down for this takes a special kind of person. I’m not exactly pro military, they are no better or worse in my opinion then everyone else in this country, but putting people down for doing good things is pure crap.
