You don't see the betrayal.
The team needs to immortalize Rodgers.
Thats what classy organizations do.
#4 would never have played for the Vikings.

When they brought in MLF.
Murphy said don't be part of the problem.
Where is the "we" in this?

We have problems at the top.
First #4 now #12.
Murphy and Gutey put themselves first.
Thats not why we have Stockholders.
Right the ship!

The team will put Rodgers in the Packers HoF, that's without question.
To suggest they wouldn't falls squarely into strawman territory.

Murphy told Rodgers- a player who was at least as culpable as Mike McCarthy in team dysfunction- not to be the problem.. after firing Mike McCarthy. The "we" in that was obvious- Rodgers was still kept as a member of the Packers, when he could have been given the boot.

The fact you still believe moving on from Favre is emblematic of a "problem" tells me all I need to know about you. That wasn't Murhpy, Thompson, or McCarthy putting themselves first- quite the opposite. Those three men KNEW the nationwide and local press, as well as a significant portion of the Packers fan base, were going to outright vilify them for telling Favre to take a hike. They did it anyways. Why? Because it was in the best interests of the GREEN BAY PACKERS. They took a personal hit to their reputations in order to do what they believed was best for the organization. It worked out.

The reason the Packers have stockholders has nothing to do with having any power over the team whatsoever. The reason the Packers have stock holders is because the team needed financial backing and Packers fans agreed to donate- DONATE- money to the team to keep their beloved NFL franchise alive and competitive in Green Bay, WI. Nothing more, nothing less.

You are so deluded on so many issues. It is amazing to me you are full grown with a lifetime of experience behind you.

You miss the betrayal.
The Proxy votes.??
I get you think it's time to move on.
You want the draft choices.
But honesty never showed up.
The Two Face power play did AGAIN.
Winning No longer matters.
Is that why you're a Packer Fan?

The Packers board hold enough shares of stock that if every public (fan) stockholder voted in unison, it's not enough to tip the scales of the board votes.

I don't care about the draft choices. I don't know who you've been listening to, but I've been 100% consistent in stating compensation for Rodgers is nothing more than a bow on top, the real prize is getting Rodgers' contract off the Packers books ASAP, displacing Rodgers' negative energy and influence from the field and locker room, and equally as important as item number one- move the team towards the future, towards the next chapter, to the next 10-15 years of Packers football.

Winning absolutely matters. The Packers are worried about winning for the next decade, not the next year.

Betrayal.. lol. Oookkkkkkaaayyyyy.

Aaron (Nagler),

The unpaid fans pay their money to watch the team.

The team is the players.

It is the players that we cheer and get behind.

It is the players that we watch as it is the players' agility, speed, strength, and conditioning that are special and worth watching.

It is the players who put their lives at risk each week, potentially dying on the field, often leaving the game crippled and brain damaged. And the average career of the 2,208 players that annually make the 32 teams NFL rosters or practice squads have an average career that lasts just 3 years.

When my Packer fan friends and I are not at the stadium and watching the Packers on television we turn off the voice to avoid all the nonsense of the talking heads who make their living off the players talents.

During a Packer game, we never boo the Packers players. Never.

The "team" though is not the management or the parasitic factions - the 31 Billionaires and various other parasitic operations - that profit and live off the talents off the players.

We do not pay to watch the parasitic 31 Billionaires owners or other parasitic factions profiting off the players athletic talents. There is nothing worth watching there - they do nothing of value but suck money out of the efforts of the players and their other wage worker slaves.

It figures you two would reply first. The AR12 worshipers. You’re NOT GBP fans. You’re Aaron Rodgers fans. Doesn’t matter what you say or how long you’ve followed the team. You’re not fans! You’re haters. Nothing the organization does is ok with you because they didn’t first genuflect to 12 before they did it. Bullshit!! The GBP are not about one guy. They’re about everything from MM to the practice squad to the asst. equipment manager. And it’s even more bullshit that the organization doesn’t take care of it’s people. Just because AR12 gets his hyper-sensitive feelings hurt does not indict a whole system. NO!! Again, doesn’t matter what you say or how you twist facts or how long you’ve followed the team or how you suffered through the 70’s and 80’s (God I’m sick of hearing that). You’re Rodgers fans. Period! But unlike Nagler, it doesn’t bother me. To me, the haters, who claim they’re fans, are just lumped into the same group as the other haters who are fans of other teams. (Ok, yes, I do occasionally want to rip the green and gold off their backs). Walk away and turn a deaf ear to them.

Another Management Plant - Management Boy and Aaron Rodgers hater.

Management Boy, how much does management pay you to post here and defend emotion driven foolish decisions?

Stating the obvious - that trading the franchise's longest tenured player, and winner of 2 of the last 3 passer rating titles and 2 of the last 3 MVPs with a player that has started but one NFL game - and failed horribly - and led all of college football in interceptions is what all TRUE fans should be trying to communicate.

Never mind 1st drafting College's interception leader right after your starting quarterback has led the NFL with the lowest interception % the previous 2 years - 2018 and 2019 - and led the team to the NFC Conference Championship Game. And the 2nd year GM does not even let the then 15 year Packer legend and starting QB know who he is drafting? Rodgers knows more about football than any of these stuffed suits ever will and he is not consulted?

We TRUE FANS support the players - cheer all the players all the time, never booing.

Fans pay to watch the players, not to kiss the ass of management that lives off the players,, disrespects the players and only still have their jobs because of Aaron Rodgers - as Lafleur point out quite clearly:
.
“He’s done so much for myself, my family, our coaches’ families, so many people within the organization, other players,” LaFleur continued. “A lot of people have been rewarded, quite frankly, because of his ability to go out there and play and play at such a high level.”
LaFleur is right.

Would there be the 24/7 ATM that is Lambeau Field available to fund all sorts of facilities improvements if not for Rodgers?

Would there have been two successful stock sales if not for Rodgers?

Would the Packers – the smallest-market team in the NFL – rank regularly in the top 10 in the NFL in revenue if not for Rodgers?

Would those small-market Packers rank 24th in Forbes’ annual ranking of the most valuable sports teams in the world if not for Rodgers?

Packers fans are spoiled. That’s not a criticism. To go from Favre to Rodgers, a couple generations of Packers fans have no idea what it’s like to cheer for a losing team. No idea what it’s like to wake up on Sunday and hope the game is at least a little close in the fourth quarter. No idea what it’s like to start a season without real championship aspirations.
Jordan Love could be a legitimate NFL starting quarterback and still not be able to hold a candle to Rodgers. The New York Giants, for instance, just signed their quarterback, Daniel Jones, to a four-year contract worth $160 million. For what? Is he really good enough to get them to a Super Bowl? Maybe not but they’d really have no hope without him.

A new world awaits in Green Bay

We, or most, know and understand the basics of how the Packers are run, and that the majority of teams are run the same, though to some varying degrees, and less the Owner thing, because the rules make them all 'equal'.

The separator is the decisions each team makes about its personnel, staff and players. Fans are behind the team, but it seems all fans are expected to simply abide by all deeds, decisions on and off the field and in Office.

Dissention is good, one part of society screams you should never dissent, but placidly, amicably agree/accept, or else. In the case presented by Nagler, if you dissent, you're not a real fan. To even ask/say such a thing makes a mockery of fandom, because it seeks to stem/ erase a fan's right to dissent.

I've always said, the truest fan is the one who isn't afraid to expose the wrong doings/ decisions, play, because that fan will be attacked by the blind, who follow the premise that agreement with all is the foremost requirement of a fan, in order to be a real fan.

I support the Packers, and have for much longer than Nagler, and I often disagreed with many things, but Nagler would insinuate that I haven't, ONCE, as he requests be done in his bs video claiming those who dissent, haven't ever. Just once, be behind your team.

As a non-american with no horse in the race, I chose the Packers as a young kid. I'd never seen a game and didn't really know anything about football (or American football as it is called here). It was just this mythological sport played in the that great land to the west, and I of course had to pick a team to root for (kid logic). My choice fell on the GBP because I thought the name Green Bay sounded cool and exotic (again, kid logic).

I will stand by that choice til I die, because it's been with me for most of my life, it's part of who I am. I will support my team through thick and thin, no matter what.

Even if we sometimes disagree, I'll always have your back.

Aaron,

I've been watching you on and off youtube for just over a year now, and I am a rookie community member - please, take my comment with a grain of salt.

When your first response to your message above came in with something along the lines of, "isn't that the way the society is going?..." Unfortunately, it's a sad reality of the times we live in. All of the emotions in our world are more connected than ever. Facebook was probably a good measurement for the start of this, but anger is an emotion. Love is also an emotion. Emotion generates engagement. Lazy journalists choose the former to get clicks. Lazy people also tend to complain about why the world is the way it is before they conjure up a way to stand for something. They may even not get the result they want, and proceed to double down with more effort on the negativity. But, alas, human nature seeks emotion based engagement to some degree.

You sir, are not lazy, and that's why you have a heart for your team. But, you have to remember why cities get corrupt in the first place. Why do places start off so beautiful and knit, and then become larger metro areas (the babylon lesson) and more often than not become corrupt or plagued in some area. As a fellow business mind, you need to account for this. Especially when your brand (the Packers) is under change; people will have emotion filled opinions.

What do I recommend? You should create a threshold for negative comments vs positive ones so the cohesiveness of the beautiful community you created can continue to thrive. The majority of your fan base here is with you, and we will criticize when warranted, and the community can make sense of that when they read it. And then, unfortunately there are some who continue to spew complaints with numerous thumbs down to thumbs up ratios and with no reason to stop and reflect on their position. They get to belong to cheeseheadtv and complain, just as much as someone who is pushing the community forward in a positive/neutral way. From there you would have to guard for malicious accounts with the same ip, but this isn't that hard if you beef up your account security on here, where you could request different things for verification perhaps, etc. I've had to research different security measures over the last decade because whether small or large, the negative energy comes in, in some form.

Maybe this is a fluke season for all the negativity, but more than likely you're at a crossroads to figure out what community you want to continue to nurture... Because, the good thing is, your user base is growing. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this, and you are the face and leader of this community. People naturally like to polarize themselves to two sides, because, well it's entertaining. Either you will drain your energy with public announcements like this, or put in website measures so the only place you see the negativity is on third party sites, or when the consensus of the community warrants the negativity. Wouldn't you like to know when the majority of your fan base has a genuine complaint as well?

I could be wrong, maybe you want all opinions on here. For me, I appreciated finding a die hard community (majority) who see the change happening in GB, and want to see the Packers continue to succeed - rather than pointing out why they will fail. That's why I created an account. I hope you can continue to create an assembly of fans that stand for the same concept as you do, Aaron. God speed.

**Thinking about it a touch more after Oppy's response, I'd get a different"point" system in place altogether. A "Gold," "Green," and "Personal Foul" point system. Greeny points for a "liked" comment. A once a month per user "gold" award for the comments that really stand out that a member really wants to help highlight. And, a "personal foul" dislike option that is only earned after achieving 5 greeny points or something. To prevent the dislike spam as well. Just saying, if you are going to have an emotion based, "like" & "dislike" reaction system on here, why not have it be a more healthy approach overall?

Lootstone,

As someone who has been here at CHTV since, I dunno, 2007- roughly the beginning of CHTV, I can tell you that there will be two or three years of fussiness and then everything will settle down.

Because that's exactly what happened when the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers and the Favre-first fans freaked the eff out.

I am self-aware to understand that you probably would categorize me as "negative energy". That's fair. I think you will be surprised how things around here turn once the change is in the rear-view mirror and people come to acceptance and start focusing on the Green Bay Packers Football TEAM again.

It will happen.

Lol not at all Oppy!

Granted this is the first post I've ever seen you post, and I'm not going to snoop into your comments history. I actually appreciate the history lesson here. I bet the Favre era was nuts. I remember my teacher in HS complaining about it all, and all I knew was I liked Favre, but he kept throwing genuine Hail Mary's in the end. But at the same time thought, well, "who is as good as Favre when he's not playing hero ball?"

I'm talking about the very very few trickling in, and won't stop. 99% of people will post a negative comment, get their thumbs down but feel just in saying it. That part is fine. I'm talking about the one's who double down with their bull horn and the community just simply doesn't want it. There is no list I have, lol, don't worry. Criticism is a warranted part of human nature, as well as taking it in for personal growth.

Much of the two side stance I don't have a problem with, really. It's just when that gets so extremely polarized that the effort for division grows more than the effort for cohesion. Luckily everyone here wears green and gold. Not all communities see the advantage of comradery in this day and age. Just a sad reality sometimes that needs help with course correction from the shepherds who hold that position.

CHTV has, for the most part, done a great job of allowing discourse to work itself out without involvement.

Once in a great while, Jersey Al will step in and handle matters, but it is truly rare that a commenter gets the ban hammer. (the same was true on Al's All Green Bay Packers as well).

By and large, we're all passionate Packers fans here. With wildly varying opinions. And yeah, sometimes we clash. Most of the time it's respectfully. Sometimes we cross the line in heated moments. But we're all Packers fans.

In an online era of super-sanitized, positive-approved-commments-only websites.. CHTV allows discourse, and it's been a strength of this community overall for 15+ years.

That's good to hear. Luckily Packer communities aren't in direct opposition to foreign interference as much as the line of work I'm in. Meaning, not as much outside threat is really a concern. Just was noting above that we are using a system of communication and it flows according to it's maker. The thumbs up and down is at least something. Imagine how it could turn if that wasn't the case?

Even rewarding community involvement is another avenue that could be explored because, chances are someone like me will fall off post draft. Maybe watch some highlights, but that's about it until game day. Just food for thought.

Then maybe the "like," "dislike," system should be removed...

Why have replies to comments at all?

Why have comments at all?

It's not a matter of who needs it or who doesn't, it sparks community interaction - otherwise the systems architect wouldn't of implemented it in the first place.

I have no regard for the 'like/dislike' buttons because it leaves open a wide door for cowards who cannot/will not defend their points in words. I believe/support the dislike button being negated, and which would compel those to express what they dislike about an article, comment, and possibly increase the communication of thoughts. Hopefully, they won't be considered non-fans by anyone that uses this site, though they will be called out as being such regardless. Which is something I have endured for many years, but still am undeterred, by my fandom, which is high even when dissenting.

If you don't care or have the time to retort about your dislike, then you shouldn't be allowed to simply push a button to demonize one who does.

Like or be quiet, or reply with honor and character your dissent, and expect those to do the same by yours.

I would agree with much of your sentiment. Youtube, for instance, went that route. But it seems more nefarious over in that realm because they silence populist viewpoints, and have bots pumping views on unwanted videos now like crazy. They cater to main stream TV media and it's sad. I will admit though, it makes it appear less hate filled because of the no dislike button, leaving only the comments to make counter points.

Really my main concern is spam messages - people who touch on the same point, get numerous down votes, valid counter points, and continue to just keep spewing it.

Like Oppy pointed out, after the Rodgers thing, it will probably just go away. But I like the thought of what healthy engagement could be, allowing all points of view, but encouraging healthy dialog along the way as well. It's not an easy feat, but everything has it's season I suppose - hard to counter it all.

Censoring viewpoints is a policy of 'WOKE' companies. CHTV does not, nor do I think they would. They have banned some for the beyond rational attacks of a personal nature, but that isn't censorship, but deserved action.

The like button can be/is used by some, as a clickbait tool here, and it is obvious who they are by their comments, which are habitual in saying what the auto 'likes' want to read. Pacifiers will always get more 'likes' because most fans love hearing/feeling a cuddling story or fairy tale when things don't go right. Nagler thinks all fans should believe the fairy tale, especially at times the one he writes, and keep your dissent/unhappiness to oneself, or be called a non-fan, or unbeliever in 'The Packer Way'.

Oppy - if I understand you correctly. Keep in mind, mental health (the understanding of nature and truth) is a critical topic when it comes to childrens' access to information. Most individuals understand this inherently, which is why I mention populist viewpoints.
Banning/suppressing one news source over another is a completely different scenario.

Aaron, thanks for posting this. Full passion ahead and damn the down votes!

To a good degree I share your feelings, but I can't really get behind the "are you a Packers' fan or aren't you?" part.

I don't doubt that the guys continuously dumping on the players, coaches, GM, and... everybody, really, are fans. I am sure they are Packer fans and that most are fairly serious about it.

When analyzing the team's performance we all shine a light on the weaknesses. That's fine. Good topics for conversation among serious fans, most of CHTV's registered users.

You're right that fantasy has had a negative influence on fans' views of the game and players; some watch highlights instead of the game. I'd add to this the celebrity obsession in our society and people's inexplicable interest in players' personal lives. And I'd also add a too common topic: the sloppy reasoning of imaging what a guy is thinking, objecting to that, criticizing the guy for the thoughts they've invented for him, and then raging at how terrible he is as a person. And then there are the simple insults.

I am also with you in the apologies. You must have repeated a couple dozen mea culpas in these four minutes, and along with you I apologize now to any fellow cheeseheads who might believe they are in my comments here.

Yes, CHTV has in recent months seen a nearly "continuous barrage of negativity (and) constant bitching". Welcome to the internet, Aaron! Trolls, keyboard warriors, and consequence-free incivility. CHTV is nothing as bad as twitter and sp, thank God, and I hope Oppy is right when he writes that everything will settle down (though I hope his prediction of "two or three years of fussiness" is on the long side).

I think a few good wins will calm a lot of folks.

You know what Mike and Wes did at the Insider Inbox. They just got rid of the comment section to their column. And it was sad and a shame and I miss it. Sadly, the problem was a handful of “fans” who couldn’t argue with out mean-spirited personal assaults. Fantasy sports might carry some responsibility, but I think the bulk of it is the anonymity of this kind of board. And the internet in general. They can hide behind a chosen name and say whatever they want with out consequence. They can say things they would NEVER say to someone’s face because then there could be a consequence. I have my own thoughts on what causes that behavior but whatever. How to argue, without being a dick, should be taught.

The Packers spend the exact same amount of money as the other 31 teams. What most Packers fans seem to forget or refuse to acknowledge is that at least 50% of the players in the NFL have absolutely no interest in playing in GB. It has nothing to do with the organization. Draft and develop is the only way to go for the Packers. And now that Rodgers is gone, it’s going to be even harder for the Packers to land free agents.

Have a nice weekend. It’s time for some fish and an old fashioned.

There's very little proof that Rodgers has ever helped land a free agent in GB outside of Cobb. Lots of other FA's have passed on Packers offers. It didn't seem Rodgers was that big of a draw, at least not enough to take less to come and play with Aaron in GB than take more somewhere else. That doesn't seem to support (Rodger's own) claims that guys come to GB to play with him.

Ultimately, money is what brings the FA's in. The Packers tend to keep their own and resist the urge to compete in the open market for most FAs, because you're generally speaking going to overpay for a player another team that had intimate knowledge of the player decided to pass on.

If the Packers play well, they've got just as much chance to bring in FA's as when Rodgers was here. Yes, it's true the weather and small town atmosphere doesn't appeal to a number of young men who play professional football, but there are those out there who find the atmosphere a lot like home (or college) and some out there who like the seasons.

P.S. I know it's sacrilege in Wisconsin, but put the brandy aside and have a whiskey or bourbon old fashioned. You'll be happy you did.

After reading some of the comments, here's my two cents. I'm not sure what some of you are hearing in this video. At no point are you being told not to be critical of the Packers. He is addressing a small segment of fans, and we have them here, who do nothing but bitch and complain non-stop about the same things over and over and over. That gets real annoying to me as well and it's everything I can do to let it go and just ignore it. Those are the fans he is addressing in his video. After booting the few assholes that wandered in here, I think the comment section here is in a good place with some really good discussions. I appreciate well thought out and expressed opinions, critical or supportive, but there are people here and everywhere else that couldn't bring themselves to say something positive about the team if their lives depended on it. Where is the enjoyment in that for those people? That's what Aaron doesn't understand - and neither do I.

Oh, and did I mention the draft guide hits on Monday?

Go Pack Go.
