Carson Beck Headlines List Of Intriguing Packers Draft Prospects

These three 2026 draftees could be early contributors to the Packers if drafted.

The 2026 NFL Draft is just a few short weeks away, and as we start to inch closer to Round 1 in Pittsburgh on April 23rd, one thing is becoming clear: the Packers are going to need to hit on their draft picks more than ever this year. While hitting on your draft picks is a must every year, this year looks a little different in Titletown. Lacking a first-round pick in this draft (and next), there is an extra onus on Brian Gutekunst to get his draft picks right and add some competition to this roster to either address an issue from last year’s squad or to replace a departure from free agency. While some talent was added at positions of need during free agency, the Packers always have been, and always will be, an organization that builds via the draft. And with a few question marks still to be answered, there are some interesting options that will be available to Green Bay at some point in the draft.

Backup quarterback, cornerback, and interior defensive line are all at the very top of the list of positions that still need to be upgraded at some point before the start of the 2026 season. With the vast majority of quality free agents signed up, the draft remains the best avenue to acquire fresh talent for Brian Gutekunst’s roster.

Carson Beck—
This draft is not one of the strongest in recent memory at the quarterback position. We might see just one or two quarterbacks drafted in the first round (the question mark being Ty Simpson), so it’s not a great year for the Packers to need a backup quarterback. That’s why in recent weeks I’ve been keen on the idea of Green Bay swinging a trade for someone else’s bottom-tier failed starter, such as the Colts’ Anthony Richardson or the Titans’ Will Levis. If the Packers do take a QB this year, Carson Beck is the most intriguing by far.

The 6’4”, 233-pounder out of Miami by way of Georgia threw for 11,725 yards and 88 touchdowns in his decorated career. Beck, of course, was the backup QB at Georgia during their 2021–2022 national championship game appearances and was the starter for the Miami Hurricanes during their improbable run to a national title game appearance. He has the sort of high-level experience (especially as a backup) that Green Bay could covet at not a high investment price. Beck is currently projected as a 4th-round pick.

Beck could come in and likely play well right away in Matt LaFleur’s offense. He tied for the sixth-lowest turnover-worthy play percentage in this year’s draft class. More importantly, his 77.9% completion percentage in the play-action game ranked first. As we have seen the last two years, Matt LaFleur can develop a game plan around his backup better than anyone, and if Beck can come in and simply complete passes at a high level like he did in college, he could be a great option for the next four seasons.

Davison Igbinosun—
In is Benjamin St-Juste, out is Nate Hobbs. The Packers haven’t added any additional bodies at cornerback; they just replaced one part-timer with another. St-Juste played really well for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, but he was on the field for just 37% of the defensive snaps. Any expectation of him coming in and solving all their issues at outside corner should be tempered. With little depth behind the trio of St-Juste, Nixon, and Valentine (the last two being in contract years at that), the Packers are highly likely to invest a draft pick or two at corner.

Davison Igbinosun is a player that Gutekunst would have to get early, but he is a long and physical corner who is not afraid to get his hands on a receiver and affect them all game long. During his final season at Ohio State, he recorded 53 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 8 pass deflections while giving up 0 touchdowns. At 6’2”, 189 pounds with 33-inch arms, he could be the perfect mix of someone who doesn’t shy away from contact in the run game and who is great in coverage—a mix that currently doesn’t exist on this team. What Nixon and Valentine bring to this team in attitude, they don’t always back it up on the field. Igbinosun has the ability to do both, and if he finds himself in Green Bay, he could quickly be a starter for the foreseeable future. I don’t have many draft crushes, but Igbinosun is definitely one of them.

Zxavian Harris—
Harris is the biggest risk out of these three, but he might also have the highest upside as well. For starters, he is massive at 6’8” and 330 pounds; he would clog up the middle of the Packers’ defensive line better than any other option they have. A disruptive force at Ole Miss, he accumulated 24 pressures, 32 stops, and 6 blocked kicks during the 2025 season. Like Igbinosun, he would come in as a rookie and have the ability to make an impact on Day 1 in Jonathan Gannon’s defense, playing alongside Javon Hargrave.

Unfortunately Harris’s prospects of becoming a Green Bay Packer are pretty low due to the fact that he was arrested twice during his collegiate career. The Packers do not have a history of taking players with off-the-field issues, and if they do, it’s more likely signing them as an undrafted free agent, such as Brenton Cox Jr., not investing a 3rd- or 4th-round draft pick in them like it would take to acquire Harris. Add in the fact that he is coming off foot surgery, and it all but takes him off their draft board. If, by some wild change of heart, due to their glaring need at the position, and if he starts to slide down the board, maybe—just maybe—they will roll the dice on the big man. They could benefit massively if they do.

Given the Packers other needs at CB, IDL and OL, I am struggling with investing a draft pick in a QB. Desmond Ridder is not terrible and I don't see Carson Beck as an upgrade on Ridder. Certainly not when the fourth rounder used to acquire Beck could be used instead to add important depth to the OL or defensive backfield.

I was shocked when the Packers signed Brenton Cox and Cox was never arrested. He got kicked off two SEC football teams for conflicts with the coaching staff, but he was never actually in trouble with the law. Harris was arrested for domestic violence and DUI. I just don't see him ever being a Packer.

It's difficult to discern if a player has been in trouble for somewhat understandable youthful indiscretion or something darker.
It's important to try to discern the difference.
Is a guy reformable with some good coaching and beneficial influences from older and wiser players?
Or is that young man in a bad place deep within himself that requires some serious counseling for a real change of heart so as to get his head in the right place.
Also, in general, does a team culture lead players into the temptation of sleazy situations that will cause their ruin as players and persons, or steer them in healthy directions?

Harris has committed two serious crimes. The domestic violence charge also included resisting arrest. The DUI also had a weapons charge and eluding arrest. The Packers are a football team, not a rehabilitation clinic. They don't have the resources or training to fix this guy. Harris needs to seriously re-evaluate his life and behavior before he will find a place in the NFL.

No he committed one.
7/2023 - felony fleeing and DUI
He was doing burnouts, in a appt complex.
He drove to the exit running a stop sign.
And left his wrecked car leaving the seen.
He bonded out playing in 11 of 13 games.
August 18, 2024.
charges of domestic violence and obstructing arrest.
Legal Standing: He was previously in a pre-trial intervention program for the 2023 felony fleeing charge.
Still- I would object to the DUI if the police weren't there!
Harris is flying up boards now.
He currently is around 120.
The ankle surgery is done and the boot
should be off. The man is wired.
I want him. He'll be just as good as Jones for KC.
And if they move him around on the LOS.
He'll be an All-pro.

I think we all agree that domestic violence is very serious.
That stated, as humans we tend go from one extreme to the other.
One extreme is not taking domestic violence seriously; the other extreme is taking every accusation of domestic violence as totally true without investigating it thoroughly and getting both sides of the story.
Also, there's a difference between a slap and a punch and a pummeling; and there's a difference between one or two offenses and ten or more offenses.
Finally, has the person who has committed domestic violence in the past not only shown signs of sincere contrition, but also stopped doing it for at least a year?
We don't want to turn a blind eye to bad behavior just because someone has extraordinary athletic talent; on the other hand, we don't want to prevent someone who is seriously striving to reform from obtaining gainful employment.
We want fairness for everyone, males and females regardless of color.

Read it again. It doesn't say he hit anyone.
He fled his accident scene, which is a felony there.
They arrested him on that.
After being bonded. He never reported.
Was my conclusion. Because he did play football.
So did he admit to drinking?
The internal university investigation is on going? Why?

Yes, if you ignore the technicality of his plea. In essence he agreed not to contest intoxication , possession, fleeing and the rest in return life it being quietly swept away.

“On July 16th, 2023, Oxford police responded to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Creekmore Boulevard for a report of a vehicle doing burnouts in the parking lot.

The vehicle then left the parking lot at a high rate of speed without headlights.

Shortly after, officers located the vehicle wrecked out.

After investigation, 19-year-old Zxavian Harris, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing, DUI, Reckless Driving, Minor in Possession, No Headlights, and Running a Stop Sign.

Harris was taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.”

Per a later update:

“He pleaded no contest to those charges and was sentenced to a pre-trial intervention program for first-time offenders.”

Local TV website coverage.

I think Harris would be a great addition on football considerations alone. Unlike you, I don’t see his record as trivial or fabricated, I very much doubt he’s a Packer person. I don’t think we’ve asked him to visit now or at the combine. That speaks volumes with his record. He will probably go to the Browns, eventually.

I believe thats minor in possession of alcohol.
(Being he wasn't 21.)
But the university still is investigating.
And they didn't discipline him.?

I Had a fast car and did burn-outs all the time.
It's fun smoking tires.

His team claimed to have “internally disciplined” him for his prior arrest including counseling. They essentially refused to divulge more. Given his no contest plea deal, one might assume that steps were taken to make it go away by the local authorities and team.

As to the domestic violence charge (which also included one of obstructing arrest), who knows. He ended up booked into Jail, but after that it went blank. I suspect the other party likely declined to press charges/testify. Read into that what you will.

Certainly there has been no statement exonerating him as would likely be the case had it been proved groundless. However, teams will have employed much more hands on due diligence for a player like him.

Realistically, the fact that he’s still seen as a mid round pick suggests it’s not been dismissed as trivial or unfair. Were it so, I think the word would be out to the draft community by now.

Will a team like the Browns care as much as we might? Seemingly not on past evidence, but I find it a stretch to see the Packers going doing so. In pure football terms he’s a pick we should crave. Sadly, it is one I can not see happening.

That Was the follow up No show.

There is no evidence of damages pending, but there would not be grounds after accepting a no contest plea. Nor is there bond default (which would have derailed the plea very probably). If his lawyers did not, I would expect the athletic program to see to that probably.

As to the domestic violence charge, if the supposed victim would not testify for any reason, then unless the police personally saw something truly egregious threatening others or the victim once they arrived, proceedings would almost certainly be dropped or perhaps held open but quiescent, pending a potential repeat.

Had the authorities decided it was all fabricated then one would normally see a statement to the effect that, at the very least, no charges relating to the conduct were warranted for an individual with his profile. Since that does not seem to have happened, all we can say is that the matter has not publicly been further pursued through the justice system.

PTI program - a diversionary initiative for first-time or nonviolent offenders, allowing them to avoid criminal conviction by completing conditions like community service, counseling, or restitution. Upon successful completion, charges are dismissed and potentially expunged, leaving no criminal record.

I thought it might be related per completing conditions.
But they should have cleared his record by now.
Rumors say girl-friend. There should have been a
complaint per charges, in that arrest.
(Freedom information act?)
But they didn't remove him from MIS football.
Maybe thats why he praised his coach as he

"Given the Packers other needs at CB, IDL and OL, I am struggling with investing a draft pick in a QB. Desmond Ridder is not terrible and I don't see Carson Beck as an upgrade on Ridder." Agree 100% Guam.

I just don't get the fascination some people have with drafting a QB every year. This all came up before last years draft when someone said GB needs to get back to drafting and developing QBs. I get that years ago we drafted, developed and traded some QBs. Right now we have a solid backup QB in Desmond Ridder. He was a Top 5 QB in the 2022 draft and can do almost everything well. He was drafted in 3rd round, had to start for the Falcons too early, they were a bad team, Atlanta gets rid of him and are still searching for a QB today.

QB. Kyle McCord, our practice squad QB, was a 5 star recruit at Ohio State. They had 3 that year and McCord lost the competition to C J Stroud, but won the starting QB job in 2023 and threw for over 3000 yards. He transferred to Syracuse, threw for over 4700 yards, 34 TDs 12 Ints. A fabulous year and was a Top 10 QB in the 2025 draft, but should have been Top 3. He is everything a team would want as a QB, we have him already.

So what is the goal behind drafting another young QB when we already have 2 who will already be better than anyone we draft. McCord is arguably better than any QB in this draft other than Mendoza. To everyone who wants GB to use one of it's "only" 7 picks on a QB, why not spend the pick on a position of need instead? We don't need a young QB, we have 3 of them now, all with great potential.

I'm wondering if it's time to rethink the position of nose tackle.
To play this position it seems necessary to have a bulk so rare as to be almost unattainable, and for the player unhealthy.
It also seems highly unsatisfying for a player to have a role of just being a blob that clogs up the middle.
There have to be other ways of securing the middle of the defense by using combinations of two or more players, and mixing up those combinations to keep the offense guessing.
What I'd prefer is better athletes on the interior of the defensive line put in positions to use their athleticism as an asset.
If I'm crazy, I'm crazy. Oh well, I'm still willing to put this idea out there for consideration and possible discussion.

That's what makes Harris a very interesting prospect doesn't it Swisch? If it wasn't for the legal warts, Harris is probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick, he will be drafted by a team. His profile is just off the board wild card. He is 6'7 335 lbs so his size is different than almost everyone except Caleb Banks, who has so many medical concerns.

Harris is a Bonafide run stuffer, and his ability to block kicks is unmatched. Couple that with the fact his stats are way better than any of the other draft DT and he would be a super solid prospect. Then there are his legal warts, I don't know what the actual facts are but he is still young and young people do very stupid things everyday. Domestic violence is a bigger deal than DUI in my view. Both are red flags, but I give both sides an equal view on the DV charge. The women 100% can't be poo pooed on this, but we don't know what actually happened, what provoked the incident.

If GB brought him in and were satisfied with what they heard, I would spend #201 on him because he seems like a gamewrecker.

“ If GB brought him in and were satisfied with what they heard …”. To me that’s the flag, I see no evidence that they have met with him at the combine or on a draft visit.

As a result, I conclude that they either see no concerns or have him off their board (unless they have on field doubts that seem unlikely or just don’t value big NTs (a more plausible and concerning)), since he is likely to be available at a position we think of need.

Perhaps I’m wrong and they see him as a Cox type. They did not have a visit with Cox as far as I know, however, it emerged afterward that then defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich had personally telephoned and interviewed Cox to evaluate his character. Perhaps they have done the same with Harris.

If we go with a 3-4 defense you definitely could use Harris, If not a 3-4 ,there is no need for a nose tackle . He is slow but could eat up blockers.
A DUI and a domestic issue might have been a one time thing. It doesn't make him a career criminal. It sounds like he could benefit from some AODA treatment. Playing in Green Bay could help his recovery. Either way we are primarily drafting on football ability . While a concern; an intensive interview should reveal his character. Again, the minor legal issue can be overlooked if he can overcome. Many players with worse criminal issues have been drafted (even in the first round) who turned out well.

I don't see how of any them could be immediate contributors.

For Beck to get in there, Love would have to be injured. And then MLF would have to be confident enough to insert a rookie backup in there with a rudimentary game plan. Although MLF was able to do this with Willis, remember that Willis did have a couple of seasons of pro experience and was very effective with designed runs. Beck is a pocket passer with limited mobility.

Igbinosun is an extra-grabby cornerback, so he might need a lot a training to keep his hands to himself. I'm getting shades of Ahmad Carroll here. He's also one of those shoulder tacklers, so you want him coached to wrap up.

Harris is a very bad boy. They're not just run-of-the-mill arrests, but domestic battery and fleeing after a DUI. While he has improved as a football player in college, he's no Jalen Carter (technically a different type of DT, but you get the point), either. Somebody will be interested in his services, but it almost assuredly won't be the Packers.

I get concerned when reading that a cornerback is "extra-grabby."
I seem to recall a few years ago, I think when we still had Rodgers at QB, that we had a lot of pass interference penalties that drove me, and maybe other fans, crazy.
If a cornerback is grabby at the college level, is he going to need to be even more grabby as a pro? And will that work without him getting penalties on third-and-11 that move the chains for the other team and have the fans exasperated?

A lot of DBs are grabby at the college level, but what stood out about Igbinosun is that he was guilty of 30 penalties in his career. Whether they were all illegal contact calls I don't know, but that's still an awful lot of yellow for one player.

If the Packers could get Levis, he could be a player who resurrects his career in GB. This is a team known for developing QB's, and if the player in question (in this case Levis) has some natural talent, the Packers will find a way to bring that out and help him become a better player. Richardson? No, no, a thousand times, no. He is simply not accurate, and that is the kiss of death for a QB. Great athlete; bad QB.

Harris is a player I’d love to draft, but a human I doubt will even be on our draft board. Two arrests during his college career, a DUI while in possession of a weapon as a minor with felony fleeing in 2023 and a domestic violence charge with obstructing arrest in 2024. While he seems to have a good reputation for effort on the team, unless we have him in for a visit, my guess is he’s already off our board.

Davison Igbinosun Would make me very happy, however there are a number of CBs I can say that about who likely go in rounds 2-5.

Carson Beck? Please no! I’d rather start McCord, let alone Ridder. The idea that Beck is ready is mind boggling and his upside isn’t that exciting, He’s immobile, even for a poor athlete. Ball security is an issue and his deep ball is dubious at best.

There are any number of late round projects and some likely UDFAs i’d take before him. Aside from even those often mentioned, if we want a pocket passer with a big body with a better arm I’d far prefer Moorhead’s Jack Strand (probably a 7th/UDFA) for upside to compete with McCord and for long-term development.

Igbinosun has been my favorite CB in the draft. The "He is too Grabby" is a weak argument to not want him as a Packer. The majority of his holding penalties, 24 I believe came in 2024, he only had 5 in 2025.

Do any of you think NFL CBs aren't all very grabby. Refs could call holding on every play. Igbinosun could start Day 1 in GB. If you can start as a DB and excel at Ohio State, then you can play in the NFL. Ohio State is known for putting players in the NFL, but especially at DB and WR. He cleaned up his penalties big time in 2025.

As an OSU fan growing up smack dab in central Ohio Igbinosun was very frustrating in 2024 often getting 2-3 pass interference penalties 2 - 3 plays in a row . I wondered isn’t there anyone better than this to play corner . But he proved me wrong in 25 with physical play and aggressive tackling . Love to see him in a Packers uniform . Got my fingers crossed .

Off topic, but since we are approaching the draft and the inevitable discussion about "arm length" for offensive lineman is surely going to come up, I found this tidbit from former Packer coach McCarthy about the arm length question when evaluating Josh Sitton to be interesting*, "Coming out of college, one of Sitton's drawbacks in the eyes of scouts was his short arms. They were measured at 31¼ inches. But McCarthy said that was never an issue for Sitton because of his wide shoulders. In fact, McCarthy said after hitting the jackpot with Sitton, the Packers decided to prioritize wingspan over arm length in their scouting evaluations."

"WINGSPAN" discussions can now be had! :)
