Cory's Corner: Davante Adams Tells Everyone To 'Calm Down'

Adams shows loyalty and common sense.

It seems every time we look around, there’s another whisper, another report or another trade rumor.

It was refreshing to hear Davante Adams go to bat for his quarterback. “I defend my guys on everything man,” Adams said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” “We all know it’s a pretty dense business. There’s a lot that happens, there’s a lot that goes on here. Once you have gained that respect, you want to be treated with that type of respect. I can’t speak on specifics, but there’s certain things that he wants, maybe the club wasn’t so excited about living up to right away. That can affect a guy who’s done so much for an organization. He’s put his body and he’s really laid his life on the line out there for that team, for his teammates and everything. I’ve been behind him 100 percent through the whole thing. Obviously, I’m praying everything works out and that we get him back and we can continue to go out there and do stuff that you see on the screen there, because it’s a lot of fun doing that.”

Of course, the skeptic is easy to point out that of course Adams is going to say those things. He has led the Packers with 25.4 percent of the receiving targets in the last four years.

Even still, if Adams was having an issue with Rodgers, there’s nothing to say that he wouldn’t have said something. However, that doesn’t mean that it made tremble a little when he heard the news.

“It scared me a little bit, but (there’s) a lot of things that go into this,” Adams said.

Now Adams has vaulted himself into being the best receiver alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs. However, Adams only had one drop last year compared with two for Hopkins and eight for Diggs. Adams also had 18 touchdowns last season. Diggs (8) and Hopkins (6) couldn’t even combine forces to beat Adams out.

But even after all that production, Adams still knows that it took until the middle of 2016 before Rodgers really trusted him. That's a far cry from his two years in the league when his catch percentage was just 57.6 and 53.2 in 2014 and 2015. That put Adams in the lower half of all recievers and many Packers were seething at the second round draft choice.

“It took time, I’m not going to lie,” Adams said. “It took time before I can honestly personally say we were in that spot and he trusted me for sure. There’s been times throughout my first year, he came to me in some critical moments in  a playoff game against Dallas. But we hadn’t developed that true trust at that point. I wasn’t really sold that we had this crazy bond that was going to turn into something undeniably special.”

Adams has grown so close with Rodgers that he is starting to resemble Rodgers’ popular, “R-E-L-A-X,” even though Adams becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.

“Let’s just calm down, let’s see what’s going on,” said Adams, who has been selected to the Pro Bowl four straight years. “We’ll talk to him and ultimately try to figure out what’s going on with this thing.”

This is just soooo much bullshit.

“I defend my guys on everything man,” Adams said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” “We all know it’s a pretty dense business. There’s a lot that happens, there’s a lot that goes on here. Once you have gained that respect, you want to be treated with that type of respect. He’s put his body and he’s really laid his life on the line out there for that team, for his teammates and everything. "

Life on the line? Really? Bullshit.

Treated with respect? Really? Bullshit.

The players ALL cried through their union that the only way to respect them was to give them half of all revenues. Money equals respect. That happened. Rodgers receives more than any other player in the NFL. Cry me a freakin' river. Rodgers gets every bit of respect he has earned, every little bit. Mr. 4 time NFLCG loser.

Adams should have just reviewed his degree from STFU on this one, I thought he went to Fresno State.

Everyone's entitle to there opinion, in fact I agree with most of what JB27 said. The point I was making is all of us here have no control over the outcome of the AR storyline, that includes DA......so don't let it upset you, just watch and enjoy it for what its worth.

Then please take your own advice by not coming here and telling everyone to just watch and enjoy the ride. Surely, if you practiced your preach, you'd just read the article and not comment, and just let it play out while you watch and enjoy. However, if you insist on commenting, please allow others to do the same without the preachings of what you don't follow yourself.

On the other hand, as there is chance Aaron will be back, you have to understand Davante. He do not want to lose this relationship and trust from Aaron. It is understandable and he did not say nothing bad or ugly regarding Packers organization.

But I agree with your observation "He’s put his body and he’s really laid his life on the line out there for that team, for his teammates and everything. "...

When we are talking why professional football players have that astronomic salary (even the minimum contract per year is larger than what many of workers earn in one year!) the main argument is that their professional life is short. OK, I understand that. But if they are scared because of possible body harm and life alteration injury, than why they are not do what Chris Borland did on March 16, 2015. Borland announced his retirement from the NFL . He said that it is to dangerous to play professional football and he retired and he turn back more than 450,000.00 USD to SF 49 for that decision.

It looks nice when you sign the new contract for a lot of money, but I believe that players should be (or would be) aware that professional football is dangerous, especially looking for long term injuries that may show in later age of any of them. Because of that they get large amount of money. Also, I'm connecting that with professional solders. They have even more dangerous job - more chance to lose their lives or to be heavy injured (life changing type) than football players, but they do not comes even close to the money professional football players get. It come also for policemen, firefighters and similar professions.

I also understand that popular players brings money to the organization on several ways, most common through sponsorships and selling T-shirts, mugs, panties etc. than soldiers, policemen, firefighters... But, football players are not helping you against any kind of threat, while mentioned professionals do that as the basic principles of their duty!

Think about that, too.

If Rodger's gets traded and 'it's Adam's becomes part of the problem than trade them both as a packaged deal to enhance the fleecing of our trading partner.

By the way....thought Holmgren's comments were totally out of line. Dont understand why someone as irrelevant as Holmgren from the outside feels he should opine injecting himself into the conversation.

Here's a core question: who runs the show?

Are you loyal to the employer that pays you, or are you loyal to another player only?

If Adams wants to pout, there are other teams for him. The Packers will find another receiver and life goes on as it always has.

Remember: Aaron Rodgers has or will make $240 million dollars during his years as a Packer. He's a minority owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. He forced the firing of Mike McCarthy. Is he in charge of the Packers?

There's no way Rodgers returns now under any circumstances. This was all brought on by Aaron Rodgers.
All he had to do was keep playing and he was on his way to victory. Now all that's left are hard feelings.

All this angst and ill-feelings started by a bullshit, paparazzi, CBS Sports hack. All this drama flamed and manipulated by media, players and agents. And all this crap consumed by the fans. I hope some adults show up and tell us to cleanup and get to the table.

Maybe we should be pleased that Aaron Rodgers has kept his mouth shut and allowed private conversations to stay private and the negotiations to happen. The Packers should have done the same and questioned Schefter's knowledge/motivation. Ted would have answered with questions and there wouldn't be a story. I miss him.

uh-HUH!!!! You know it, Razer. It really is funny thinking back to how he handled pressers. He was like Obi One or something...

I met him in front of the Pfister Hotel. Saw the ghost standing outside against the building in a white running suit on a sunny morning. I whipped a shitty in my Xterra at the time, pulled up, and congratulated him on his most recent draft. I honestly can't recall which one it was. Rolled down the window and gave him a "Hey, Ted!!!" He walks over.

Hilarious, him reaching that big paw through the window to shake hands. He sat there leaning at the passenger window for a while talking about it in generalities. "Yeahhhh. Wellll. We'll see. I like what we were able to do... Like him a lot. He's a good player..." Gigantic drawl. Just super genuine.

Pretty funny.

I think what Adam's says is fine, Rodgers is his friend, he did not disrespect the Packers. That said, Rodgers signed his deal to play QB, he got paid a bunch of upfront money and now that the Rodgers friendly part of the deal is over and the Packers friendly part of the deal begins it's a problem for him. Sorry Aaron, your the QB. Feel free to apply for GM jobs around the league if you want to be the GM.

'member when wondering if Favre retiring was the biggest off-season story in Green Bay?

That may turn out to be nothing compared to this. At least Favre didn't have a pouty meltdown when the Packers drafted Rodgers.

Man the hell up, Aaron, and make the whole saga of the Packers drafting Love nothing more than a tale of a wasted pick.

One need look no further than Sherrod, Jones or Randall for evidence drafting a different position player would have ensured you the player you thought should have been drafted to be that rookie-year difference maker.

Actually if you read Andrew Brandt's column at SI.com, he said Favre did indeed have a meltdown and was seething at the time. Brandt was in the FO as a VP and he said Camp Favre and Camp Rodgers were constantly complaining to Mgmt....the two players were ice cold to each other.

Camp Favre would say "how would you like going to work everyday and there is your replacement in front of you?"

Camp Rodgers would say "come on! Are you going to play Aaron or no? If not trade him already!"

I recall Favre was asked if he if was mentoring Rodgers and he snapped "Its not my job to coach him!"

What did not happen is neither QB sent surrogates running to the press to leak. Buss Cook, for example had too much class and Irv Favre would have kicked Brett with his size 13 boot.

"Man the hell up, Aaron, and make the whole saga of the Packers drafting Love nothing more than a tale of a wasted pick."

Too late. It put a chip on Rodgers shoulder to produce a MVP performance. Rodgers thrives on that shoulder chip. I think it is highly likely the trend from 2017-2019 would have continues to 2020 without the chip. But with the chip, he re-focused. And played the kind of brilliant football very few people believe he still could on this day one year ago.

That 1st round pick produced a MVP season from the Packers QB in 2020, without the benefit of the actual player dressing for a single game. It can never be considered a total waste even if that never changes.

Adams has not signed an extension with the Packers, as of yet. So, he could go, if not re-signed. If Rodgers doesn't return, will Adams stay? Without an extension? Would Adams do that to this team? I think he gets extended this summer. Then we'll see where things are at with Rodgers and Gute. I hate this drama. Whatever happens, I will be rooting for the Packers! GO PACK, GO!!!

No receiver is worth 20 million a season which is what it will take to keep Adams. And if Rodgers gets an extension...that money will price Adams out anyway. So keeping Rodgers prevents us from keeping Adams. Adams shouldn’t take a hometown discount but that is the only way packers should keep him.

Adams comments were masterful in supporting his close friend while not calling out the organization. I see hyperbole (putting his life on line) in sports commentary everyday so I take that with a grain of salt. The most telling comment was when asked if Rodgers departure would influence his future with the team and he responded, “potentially.” That should be of some concern. During the interim between great QB play, Green Bay was viewed as an unattractive place to go for many NFL players. Great QB play by Favre and Rodgers helped to change that perception. I heard on a broadcast yesterday that Green Bay isn’t just the smallest city to host an NFL franchise, but to host any professional sports team.
In response to HarryHodag’s comment, I don’t know if Rodgers was behind McCarthy’s ouster or not. But if he was, we should be thankful because it was clearly the right thing to do for the team.

I think it was pretty clear to a lot of people that MM’s time had passed. Rodgers likely no more than many others. As to the Packers, they aren’t and must not be dependent on anyone. These days the Packers are financially secure. The waiting list won’t evaporate and the biggest obstacle to recruitment is cap. Rodgers won’t be with us forever whatever happens.

This spat is about when not if, and what state the roster will be in after versus the hope that Rodgers can do this year what he did last but with a better result.

Personally, I think that this obscures the real questions. Can Rodgers match last year and can our coaches not be out coached heavily in critical games? Both are far from guaranteed.

Cold: Good points. If Rodgers is back and plays like he did last year, will the coaches adjust to the other team? Will Rodgers prove he is really the MVP and win the big game? I am torn between wanting Rodgers back with yet another chance to get to the Super Bowl and trading him for some 1st rounders and a top player or two. I would not want to make that call.

You could also read Adams' "potentially" as "If AR is comes back and is signed to an extension, then there wouldn't be enough salary cap room to sign/extend me, so I'd be done as a Packer, but if AR is traded, then there would be enough money to extend me and I'll be back."

I think if Adams wants to remain a Packer, he has to support an AR trade.

Bigger question is will we get a chance to pay Davante Adams if Aaron Rodgers is in DEN? Will Davante want to stay? Maybe halfway through this season we should have those questions answered, if he isn't traded in a package deal with AR.

What if this Packers team, minus AR, starts out the season 8-0 or 7-1...? Davante might want to stick around. This could be super fun. Jordan Love was touted as a combination of AR and Mahomes...

I wouldn't put it past Matt LaFleur to pull that off with JL at QB. This Packers team is loaded with talent. All of a sudden it won't be just one guy. There will be a lot of players who might be assuming new leadership roles.

What happened after Reggie White, Charles Woodson, Brett Favre left the team? Did that cripple sales? Have the Packers won a Super Bowl since 2010? The Packers have had plenty of lean seasons since their sell-out streak began in the 60s. I don't know how long it takes between entering the waiting list and exiting it but it was measured in multiple decades not too long ago. This isn't about "business." It's not an Ace Hardware on the corner of 1st and Main. It's the Packers. Stars comes and go. The fans stay put.

Anyone that is above 40 years old knows this. Or should know it anyways. That's long enough to have seen enough crap football and how it was consumed. At the end of the day, Rodgers, Adams and everyone else are just the bodies that populate the uniform. It's the uniform that is the real draw.

A couple of factors about Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers:
(1) Both have to be willing to make a sacrifice in allowing other players on our offense to take a greater role.
(2) Both are getting to the age where it doesn't make sense to sign them to long-term contracts. It's sad when players get older, but they have to be willing to sacrifice some salary and security for the good of the team.
***
In keeping with the comment of another fan here at CHTV recently, I'm impressed with what Aaron Jones did to stay with the Packers in being willing to sign for less money for less years.
That's taking care of the team, while also still doing really well for oneself.
I want guys like Aaron Jones on the Packers. I hope his sacrifice to stay with the team will endear him to us as fans in a special way for all of his days. I hope a guy like that would be offered a good job by the Packers after his playing days.
I'd like Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams to stay with the Packers at least another season or two, but the question is whether they are willing to give up something significant for the team.
Both would still make a ton of money with the Packers, but it's not good for the team that they get long- term contracts for top money.
That's just the reality of the situation, as I see it, as sad as it is to see our guys move on eventually.
They have the right to seek what they want; the Packers have the right to go in a different direction for the good of all the players, and also the fans who provide all the income.
***
As I put out there yesterday -- if Rodgers and Adams decide they'd rather move on than to sacrifice for the team -- I'd trade them to the Broncos in return for Jeudy, Chubb or Surtain, Bridgewater, and a first-round pick.
I hope that would be good for all concerned, including us as fans. We're important, too.

Aaron Jones didn't willingly take lesser money for the good of the team, as is the spin that some/many Packer fans want to be spin, but his market wasn't near what was expected/hoped and he then took the path where the money was really good and secured his position on the teams' offense. Don't be fooled, if the market for Jones was as expected, he wouldn't be in GB today.

Yes, the Covid effect on the salary cap hurt, but many teams were flush with money and could have paid Jones more, they simply wouldn't pay what was he asked/believed/hoped his assumed value.

With what certainty do we know about other offers to Aaron Jones as a free agent?
It seemed he signed with the Packers rather quickly, so perhaps he didn't really explore the possible offers from other teams all that thoroughly.
I thought Miami might be a good place for him.
I don't know what happened overall.
Perhaps there wasn't much interest around the NFL for giving a running back a long-term contract.
I'm glad we got him. It seems like a good deal for both sides.

I believe his agent came out and said the market didn't seem to be what was hoped, and Jones decided it would be best for him to take the Packer deal. Naturally, it will be spun that Jones had no intention of leaving, but the truth is that no team wanted to pay him above that of GB. This was not a hometown discount, it was all he was getting. I wonder if the FO over-valued his cost and now feel they could have given less.

Only 1 team has ever won a Superbowl with the QB making just barely over 13% of the salary. Brady knows this. Pretty sure Gute and Ball know it too. If these numbers hold true the best chance for GB to win a Super Bowl looks like it is to trade Rodgers for picks and players and surround Love with a kickass team through the Draft and FA while he's in a rookie deal.

I'm not saying I want that, but based on this it doesn't look so awful.

At its core, this has always been a Cap issue. The Packers pushed out the Cap hit for one year with what amounted to a club option for a second year. Reasonable, with the number of young core players contracts become due. With the Covid-19 hit, the Rodgers contract talks became a hit the club could no longer handle under the Cap. That was clear as far back as two years ago. TGR's work has pointed out how bleak the Packers Cap was even before the pandemic. Either way, this Packers team will be very different in 2023. Cap Man wins. Cap Man always wins....

Now that it has been reported the two sides are talking, it takes away some of the drama and the rumored intransigence of Rodgers demanding to be traded or he will sit out/retire.

And I can hear Adams telling Rodgers "you know the new kids just drafted look pretty good...especially that Rodgers kid. I think we have a good shot this season with you. We need ya."

Ya rodgers just made the Packers org not only break the bank but costs the team the ability to retain other talent and free agents need not apply. This is a complete mess and I blame Rodgers for being greedy and saying you must make me the highest paid person in football or else.
Pack should have taken their lumps, traded him for picks and sucked it up that until they replace him, they may have a couple of tough years ahead.

RELAX! We're not going to have a resolution until June. Even if Rodgers signs an extension he could still be traded.

I think what Adams is talking about is either a guarantee from the Packers through 2022, possibly longer and/or a no trade clause. It's not about the money because reportedly Rodgers has already turned down a contract to make him the highest paid QB in the league.

If the trade happens include Adams and Bak. At least then we get a return on Adams who will leave in FA to follow Rodgers. By trading those 3 players we free up plenty of cap space plus we should get Surtain, Jeudy, Chubb and 2#1s back. By the 2023 season A. Jones, the Smiths, Amos, Clark and probably Alexander will all be gone as well. Some of this will happen even if Rodgers stays with the Packers. Some will be cap casualties. Others will go to the highest bidders. Others will not be resigned due to age. By 2023 even Gary may have moved on. Time will tell but this team will look vastly different in 2 seasons one way or the other.

As for Adams, he understands that Rodgers is his money maker for his next and probably final contract whether it's in Green Bay or elsewhere with Rodgers.

The only certain thing about this current situation is that the media has done a terrible job in covering this and has been a complete disservice to the fans. They have basically made up a story that no one would have even been aware of if Schefter had not decided he had "accumulated information" from unnamed sources about Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay. None of which has been confirmed to this day by anyone. In the meantime the media has been scrambling around for bits, pieces and sound bites around the edges of parties involved and the talking airheads have nothing else to drone on about at this time of the year.

Either way we have about 3 weeks to go. Thanks, Since '61

I see no way the Packers would trade 3 of their best players from one of the best offenses in the NFL.

I agree the team will look different in the future, all teams do, but you propose radically breaking down a well oiled machine for future draft picks and players that would have to learn a new system?

Way too much fixing of what isn't broken at LT and WR1.

Adams will probably want to follow Rodgers. Trade him while we can get some return value rather than nothing if he leaves via FA. As for Bak, he and Rodgers are very tight. He also wants to play with AR. He also knows that playing with AR gives him his best remaining chance at winning an SB since he is probably on his last contract. For all the Packers or us know at this point Bak will likely miss at least half of the 2021 season anyway.

Also moving Adams and Bak out frees up tons of cap space which will allow the Packers to replace both with younger versions of Adams and Bak. In fact if the packers can get Jeudy as part deal from the Broncos they will have replaced Adams. For Bak we can hopefully get Chubb in return who is a solid DL that we desperately need.
For Rodgers we get back Surtain, and 2#1s.

The deal makes the Broncos an instant SB contender and moves out AR and his guys with all their baggage. The Packers get 3 #1 picks counting Surtain, a talented, young WR and a solid DL, plus plenty of cap space. All of which will help Love succeed sooner rather than later, assuming Love can evolve into a good NFL QB.

Seems to work out for both teams. But who knows. June will tell. Thanks, Since '61

The moment Adams says he wants to go with Rodgers, it says two things: 1) Adams believes he will be significantly less relevant without Rodgers 2) Love is not a QB that can keep Adams relevant as a player or statistically.

The FO being willing to trade Adams speaks to their acknowledgement that Adams needs Rodgers and he, Adams, can't cover the warts of Love.

Absolutely correct Taryn. Also why leave behind a player who might start complaining about not getting enough targets in a contract year? That's not fair to MLF, who may end up dealing with an unhappy Bak, A. Jones, Smiths, Amos and Clark all who either remained with GB or signed with GB with the expectation that they would be playing with Rodgers for their current contract period.

If Rodgers goes their chances for an SB are gone in Green Bay at least for the remaining term of their contracts. Love may evolve into a good/great QB but not during the next 2-3 seasons which is what those guys have signed up for. Jones will be a cap casualty after 2022. The Smiths probably after 2021. IIRC Amos and Clark contracts are up in 2022. Alexander will probably test FA after '21 or'22 as well. Gary's rookie contract ends in 2022. He could also look elsewhere for an SB opportunity. These guys and FAs available from other teams have no reason to play in Green Bay without a Rodgers/HOF QB on board. Maybe Love will become that guy but then again, maybe not.

Plenty of people are unhappy with Rodgers but as you and I know he has covered numerous warts on this team for a long time. How many pop up after he's gone is anyone's guess. Thanks, Since '61

I think that is reading too much into it. Could be DEN and AR would see value in having Davante part of the deal and would make another big piece available to GB as a result.

These are difficult trades to pull off. While I've shown probably too much confidence the deal is essentially done, there are all kinds of factors involved for the other team.

DEN is 0-11 against KC since Mahomes. LV is in their division too, and they might still toss an unbelievable offer GB's way. DEN is sick of losing all the time, and being unable to score points, and they don't want the Raiders jumping them on this.

PLUS, they have 3 QBs, and essentially no QBs to get the job done of challenging for the division.

Adams, while he has an insanely tight relationship with AR, which is an asset, has none with JL. Could simply be a smart trade piece to share with the other side to get another player or pick added to an AR deal.

Agree greengold. It's also a way of getting a return for Adams rather than losing him through FA. That's my thinking on including him in the deal. Also he could be unhappy with getting less targets from Love than he would from Rodgers during a contract year. It would be unfair to leave MLF to deal with that during the season.

Thanks, Since '61

Probably true but I wouldn't want an owner like Jerry Jones or the nut case in DC either. Sometimes the Devil we know is better than the one we don't know.

Besides I have always liked the idea of a publicly owned team. Even though in reality as fans we don't own anything. Even those of us who have shares of stock. They are really just very sophisticated thank you cards for our donations to the team which I would be happy to do with or without the shares.

However, the concept of public ownership has always made the Packers special for me. it is one of the reasons that I have remained a long distance fan all of these years. It has also allowed the team to remain in Green Bay. If we had an owner driven by profits he/she would have probably moved the team to a larger and more lucrative market a long time ago. Fans have no idea the number of crazy loons there are in the league as owners. Thank goodness for the Executive Committee. With all their flaws, as a group they have taken their responsibility as 'owners' seriously.

Some Packers fans may want to take the time to review the credentials of the Executive Committee and even the Board of Directors. There are no 'nepotism' or 'buddy' appointments on each. Both executive bodies are comprised of many smart, talented and accomplished individuals. Moreover, they understand that they are a community-based, non profit organization and conduct themselves as such - ensuring the franchise's health and wealth - above all else.

The Packers have always been a profitable team and have never relied upon the NFL pool money to stay afloat. That alone would prevent the NFL from voting in favor of moving the Packers from GB, regardless of ownership. It's in the best interest of the league to maintain some rural-based teams among those of the big cities. As long as the residents buy out the tickets and the Lambeau Disneyland remains appealing for visitors, and add-in the possible or already agreed holding of the Draft, IDK if is set or not, will make it even harder to move the team.

Personally, I don't know if private ownership is the answer, but I do know in my mind that better decisions need to come about in GB regardless of how or who owns them.

I am also a long-distance fan of the Green Bay Packers. Why? Because the Packers are an anomaly - they are one of the few community owned teams (in the world) - of a major sports franchise - who have established a standard of excellence that few sports organizations can rival. On the other hand, I'm not so much a fan of the NFL - who is all about brand, big business and hype. I relate much better to the Packers, who in several ways, is the antithesis of the NFL. And I like that!

Really!!! How exactly do you force Rodgers to retire without taking the cap hit for the next 3 seasons. And if you do release him, then he is free to sign with any other team in the league and the Packers lose an HOF/MVP player for literally no return. That should get someone fired if they were stupid enough to allow that to happen.

Then players would still be able to follow him because when a player becomes a free agent, as Adams will after the 2021 season, how do you prevent them from signing with any other team. Not to mention the numerous cap casualties the Packers will need to release after the 2021 season.

You may want to think through your next post before actually posting it. Thanks, Since ‘61

I never called you a name I said that the FO would be stupid to lose Rodgers without getting a return for him. I'm sorry if you misunderstood my comment.

Rodgers would only need to pay back the $23 million if he choses to retire. If the Packers release him they are on the hook for the cap hits for the next 3 seasons and I don't think that Rodgers would need to pay anything back in that situation. However, I defer to TGR or another poster who are more familiar with the details of what releasing Rodgers would mean for the Packers salary cap. And again releasing Rodgers would free him to sign with any team he chooses to sign with and the Packers would get nothing for him. Not to mention still responsible for the cap hits.

You still haven't answered how the Packers can force him to retire or how they could prevent Free Agents signing with any other team that they choose. I'll answer for you. The Packers can't force Rodgers to retire and they can't stop a free agent from signing with another team whether they follow Rodgers or not.

Think it through. Thanks, Since '61

Your post says "make him retire" not if he retired. What you're calling BS are the reality of the situation. If they let him go they are on the hook for the cap hits. You may disagree but that is how his contract works.

Finally, my post specifically says that losing Rodgers without getting a return should get someone fired if they would be stupid enough to allow that to happen. I don't see how that has anything to do with you unless you are directly involved with the decision making in the Packers front office. But again I will apologize if that is how you received the comment. I had no intention to insult you.

You're taking this personally, which I regret, and I won't continue from here. If you think I'm good at insulting people please take the time to go back through my posts and find one where I have insulted someone.

It doesn't matter what the Packers do. Rodgers and his Passive Aggressive Personality will always feel slighted. Don't bankrupt the team to keep him happy for a season. Tyler Dunne was correct when he said notifying Rodgers of the Love pick wouldn't of mattered. He still would have been put out by it. It is what makes him a great competitor. That is why he has 5 Super Bowl rings! Oh...wait, I guess that big personality has to be backed up by big performances in big games. As great as he is, he is pedestrian when it matters at the end of the season.

I love the guy. I named my dog after him. But it is time to move on. Trade him to an AFC team on the west coast to make him happy, wish him the best of luck. Get everything you can for him, and ride with Jordan Love (personally I want Jeudy from the Broncos so he still doesn't have a 1st rounder to throw to). I fanned through the 70's and 80's, so I do know what I'm asking for. I root for the team, not the player. Go Pack Go.
