Does It Matter That Aaron Rodgers Isn’t at OTAs?

Should you be concerned about Aaron Rodgers missing voluntary OTAs?

As you probably heard, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not report to the start of voluntary OTAs on Monday. It’s the first time in Rodgers’ illustrious 16-year career that he has been a no-show. However, does it really matter if Rodgers isn’t in Green Bay this week? The answer may be a simple no.

The only person Rodgers is hurting by not showing up is himself, as he forfeits a $500,000 bonus tied into participating in offseason workouts. Maybe Rodgers doesn’t care about half a million dollars, or maybe this is his first public stance on not wanting to return to the Packers. Or maybe there’s a third option in which he has better things to do than attend a workout that some veterans view as a meaningless offseason incentive.

Everyone is well-aware of the swirling trade speculation that surrounds the future Hall of Fame quarterback. And yes, it is somewhat noteworthy that Rodgers has never missed OTAs in his career. However, this is also the first time he’s prepared to be married.

If there is one positive Packer fans can take away from Rodgers’ engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, it’s that her fans seem extremely dedicated to the intricacies of her whereabouts. Over the last couple of weeks, fan accounts for Woodley on Twitter have shared videos and pictures of Woodley and Rodgers during their vacation in Hawaii.

Rodgers has always enjoyed traveling in the offseason, which he didn’t get to do last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This offseason, it appears Rodgers is taking some extra time to enjoy his passion for travel. Also, not to be forgotten, Rodgers is a known advocate for eliminating all offseason activities prior to August--something he argued for during the last CBA. That’s not necessarily Rodgers’ reasoning in this instance, but it is something to keep in mind.

Would it be nice for Rodgers to be in Green Bay to get acquainted with his new teammates? Would it also help extinguish potential trade rumors? The answer to both questions might be yes, but Rodgers is in no way shape, or form required to participate in voluntary OTAs.

All things considered, it appears he’s enjoying the lifted restrictions pertaining to the pandemic as he dances, sings, and plays the guitar while on vacation with his soon-to-be bride. So, when someone asks why is Rodgers not at OTAs, the appropriate response is, “Who cares?”

It may not matter if he shows up to OTAs but it does matter who the Packets will have standing behind their center on September 12th. He's not being fair to the Packers, to the Packer fans, to the city of Green Bay. Hey Aaron , either shit or get off the pot!

Murphy, choosing intransigence over common sense, refuses to trade Rodgers, which leaves Rodgers only one option - retire. No need to attend OTAs if he's going to move on, so I don't understand the Packers fans' temper tantrum that he no longer wants to chase SB futility in Green Bay. Been there, done that. He's moving on, so why can't you. And you can bet that he's earned every dollar he's made as a Packer, unlike so many other Packers busts over the years. Get over it, and move on. Go Pack Go!

"And you can bet that he's earned every dollar he's made as a Packer,..."

Maybe not -- The Packers paid him a CASH bonus of $57,500,000 (Fifty Seven Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars) in 2018 to extend his stay in Green Bay through 2023. The extension basically guaranteed the team would have cap hell for all those years, but they did it for him. In return, they got one poor year, one decent year, one MVP year, no Super Bowl, and a potentially franchise altering mess.

It's just hard for me to see how he's earned every dollar when he leaves with the money for futures in his pocket and the Packers are stuck with the cap hit.

But I still hope it gets reconciled.

"refuses to trade Rodgers" we have no idea. Either way there is no way he can trade Rodgers until June or he'd need to cut other players too to get under the cap.

Rodgers was never going to be traded before June 1 if he is going to be at all. The dead money hit on amortized bonus already paid would all hit the cap this year which would force other restructures and releases. If they do it after June 1 it gets spread over 2 years which gives them the ability to maneuver a bit more.

Such a "beautiful mystery" that all 5 WRs skipping the voluntary OTAs are in the final year of their K in GB.

This was a coordinated snub to the Packers. And I think Rodgers helped orchestrate it.

But that's ok because Love is getting a lot of work with the TEs and RBs and the other Mr. Rodgers and the young WRs. Good to see the OL is in attendance.

I doubt it, LambeauPlain.

They were held out by the team per the pending trade. Those players wouldn't do that. Snub the team that signs their paychecks? No way.

Do you think Davante Adams was willing to sacrifice a half million dollars over this for AR? Hell no. I'm sure all of those players with workout bonuses were paid by the team to sit tight.

So the beautiful mystery is now a beautiful conspiracy? I have no understanding why last years top WRs would skip voluntary OTAs to avoid playing catch and running plays half speed in Jerseys and shorts...unless they are showing solidarity to their QB.

And if what you say is true, coach Matt is a bald faced liar. He seemed genuinely unsure why the WRs skipped, even after talking with each.

And showing solidarity to AR by the skip also is a message "we have your back, so get this done and let's get to work in GB."

GG, my man... Something I can disagree with you on.....

IMO for sure it was orchestrated. TBO i'm not sure how i feel about it. In one way I like the bond between WR and QB. DA was willing to put money where his mouth is. It is voluntary so IMO its unfair to get too upset.
On the other hand.... Guys like EQ and Funchess are not assured spots and should be looking out for themselves instead of getting into the drama. I'd love to see them cut funchess and EQ if they don't see them as being more than 4-5 WRs. Not for cutting off your nose to spite your face moves, plus maybe they had good reason.

If AR was about his teammates (the people) he would of encouraged them to be there both for the players own good, his teammates and fans. once again IDK but can only speculate.

Awesome love gets all the snaps

It's pretty funny really. However, we do disagree. Completely here.

What I look for in all of these situations is 1. What makes sense?

There are all kinds of factors in play, like in the AR scenario. Multiple levels. Then you kind of work your way down a checklist, does it still make sense? Does this seem logical? If there is a point where it doesn't, then it is out. The scenario doesn't work.

First off, a guy like EQ and a guy like Devin Funchess may have different motivations. My guess is Funchess has his own home he is concerned with, being a family member is immunosuppressed. So, we can logically remove him from scrutiny. Another reason to remove him from scrutiny is he really has no relationship with, nor allegiance to AR to make such a stance against the team.

It is possible, since the Packers own his rights, that they asked him to sit tight with the rest of the starting WR group from last year.

EQ, otoh, has history with AR, yet, not a ton. He likely has more history with Jordan Love, being the two trained together this offseason.

Now, why would a guy like EQ join in on a statement stance against the team, orchestrated for AR's benefit, when AR likely will never return? Even if he did, or does return, what would this collective absence do to benefit a guy who is fighting tooth & nail for his roster spot this year? Is AR deciding who makes the final 53 or 55 or whatever? Hell no. I mean, unless my world flips on me and they turn over all the reigns of team control to Aaron freaking Rodgers this next week...

Did Rodgers throw some kind of gauntlet down? No. What's he going to say? "I'm not going to throw the ball to you?" Hell no.

It is most likely, the team held all of the WRs back while GB and DEN hash out the final workings of the trade that is about 1 week away in closing.

That, to me, seems to make the most sense, especially when you look west and see the Broncos did exactly the same thing.

For every receiver not named Adams it’s a mistake not to attend IMO. They could have been held out by the team but I don’t know if a team can do that. If the OTA is voluntary it means you can voluntarily attend as well as not.

It could be a scenario of the WRs saying they know that in the final year of their contract they are going to get a reduction in targets since, if Love is the QB, the team will run more than in recent seasons. I can see MLF trying to limit Love to about 20 attempts per game or less especially early in the season. This would mean much less opportunities for WRs to show they deserve big second contracts.

Adams has nothing to prove but for Lazard, MVS and ESB it’s a make or break season.

As for Rodgers not being there he would probably take very few snaps even if he attended. Love would be taking most of the snaps either way. Thanks, Since ‘61

Right.

The team pays their salaries. If they tell a player: "sit tight, we'll pay your workout bonus, but just stay home this week, you might be part of a trade," they would probably sit at home.

You're right. Lazard, MVS and ESB all have something to prove being it is a make or break season for them, so this notion that they are making some collective stance is not logical, makes no sense, and is likely not the case.

Of course they are trying to make a point. Why in God's name would they sit out in this "situation" (potential new QB and on the tail end of your contracts?). They as a group have no clot...none...zip....nada! Unless they know something we don't? Maybe they want to stay in good graces with their QB....Hmmm?

You’re in pretty deep with the multiple players trade theory, and you’ve explained why, but I’m still not sold.

It seems to me that we’re living in a time where people like to signal how they FEEL about things, whether it’s on Facebook or the football field. If this is what the receivers are doing, then is duly noted. Let’s get to work now.

I really, really am, Leatherhead.

The thing I always go back to with this stuff is my number 1 rule: DOES IT MAKE SENSE?

If it doesn't, then the theory is garbage. However, think about DEN's perspective. They want to hit the ground running on all cylinders with an AR trade.

1. Do they want him? YES
2. Can they afford him? YES
3. Is a possible Super Bowl for DEN with an MVP HOF QB worth the players/picks? YES
4. Are there players GB might part with as well that will make this trade more effective/optimal? YES
5. Does DEN have players readily available in trade that fits GB needs? YES
6. Does GB benefit by trading AR now? YES
7. Could GB suffer if they do not make this trade? YES
8. Is holding prospective players in trade out of practice beneficial? YES
9. Does GB still have a legitimate chance of winning a SB after making this trade? YES

I'm not seeing a "NO." Anywhere.

DEN knows the clock is ticking with AR. If they are going to make the trade, they might also want to include some players Aaron is comfortable playing with that would benefit the ultimate goal of AFC West supremacy and a legit shot at winning another SB.

A trade has to work for both sides. Always.

That's why, to me, a multiple player scenario works in an AR trade. GB is in a position where virtually every WR is going to be new to the heir apparent, Jordan Love. Any building of new WR/QB relationships is really starting all over at this point. The only disadvantage is any new WR coming in will not know MLF's system. The price for a Davante/Lazard combo added to an AR trade could be significant. Maybe Jeudy and a pick. ??? Who knows?

Samson, should the trade happen there is going to be at least one player from the Chubb, Surtain, Jeudy, Cortland, or Fant that will be included. Regardless if it is Bridgewater, or Lock (please Lock) they are just essentially a throw in, however Packer fans and the FO NEED a starting level player on the field for the GBP's this year. I would actually think there would be two starting players for the Packers from Denver. With Rodgers starting for Denver and lighting up the scoreboard if the Packers have nothing but a backup QB that doesn't see the field and only future draft choices fans will be looking for blood in GB.

Nope, doesn’t matter.

In fact it’s good for Love to get as much time with the 1’s as possible (excluding the WR’s)

Rodgers holdout will last until the 2nd pre-season game I imagine.

By then the Packers should have some kind of idea whether Love can play or not.

Love will presumably be the starter in 2022 so get him all the reps you can now.

If Rodgers wants to sit, let him sit

That's the rub: you don't usually play your starting QB much in the preseason. You don't want him getting killed, you want him playing just enough so he doesn't look like he hasn't played at all when the season opens.

So what do you do? Just how much do you play Love in the preseason if Rodgers and the Packers are still waiting for someone to blink? I think Blake Bortles and Love both play, but not as much as we'd expect them to when you want to either showcase a guy for trade or fast-track them to the starting spot.

Scull, Don't stereotype now, though it may well be true it's more old people than young bashing Rodgers.

IMO the narrative that this doesn't fit is the media narrative: create as much controversy as possible. If AR and GBP are on great terms and he missed I think most would be fine with it. He doesn't need it and he is getting married so if ever there was a reason to miss.
One can argue the leadership aspect but its still not a big deal, IMO. It sells - Money

IMO, Us older people still put an emphasis on character to a higher degree than the younger generation, I'd say the generation before us had even higher standards but also had an issue with the money the players were making and resented that. IMO since the Clintons and Wall Street Movie (very, very, very much over simplified) it has become a world of "the ends always justify the means if your best interest". If you can do it and get away with it your stupid not to.

personally, I want every athlete to get as much money as they can, it's a short career window, dangerous sport, the money is there, it's just coming out of a bunch of super rich peoples profits. sure the prices are crazy but it's still televised so accessible.

The issue with AR is character. In this thread there is/are references to Unions. Something I am very familiar with and though it destroys efficiencies, jobs and relationships it is necessary as those in power would most often just walk all over those w/o as we have all seen through the years/history.

Ar, has a contract, in line with the players Union CBA. He was paid top dollar for his services throughout his career. Setting record deals. He has 3 years left on the contract that he agreed on.

Now, he has every right to TRY to renegotiate but in this case the leverage just isn't on his side. So what's he do, well there's a list of things that we all know, those actions in my opinion show a real lack of "character".

The latest, statements that its about the "people" just irks me. It's not about people who are your teammates, Coaches, team or fans or you wouldn't do it. It's about you and your desire for more money and control. Who doesn't want that, your not special in that regard, get over yourself.

older people have had to suck it up their whole lives for "people" namely their spouse and kids / family. So, it's hard to buy that from a guy who's made more money in the NFL than any active player. people young and old have had to "suck it up" so many times so no one is hearing it from poor little AR. That's the biggest reason I agree with your age premise though may temper the stereotype drawn..

The other behavioral age gap i've noticed. the older you are the more likely you are a fan first and foremost of a team, not nearly as much as a player as they come and go and no matter if its Bart Starr, Brett favre, reggie White etc they are just a small part of it. the Team/Org is what its about. IMO its why the older you are the more likely to just say fine, move on, let's go with the new guy and get on board. AR will be nothing but a bust in Canton and a section in Green Bay HOF in 25 years and even less in 50 to 100. the teams already 100 plus years old. Younger fans get caught up in players and all the hype they are given through the media, not because they are such great people or in many cases great players, but because it sells. Every week, and I mean every week the announcers talk about the best ever, special, haven't seen it before, generational. It can't be true every week but it's said every week. It's called hype, promotion, marketing etc.. The announcers are PAID to do it. Young people get caught up in that and think somehow they are special for being able to witness it. it plays on thy ego and naivety. old folk most likely fell for some of the same stuff but after 30 years of it you just come to realize whats up. Some may call that cynicism, I just call that experience.

No one is bigger than the game or team, period. Sure these guys are super athletes, super rich, Elite in their field (just to make an NFL Roster) so 99.9% of us can't relate or share those experience. But Character is universal. We are all equal, no one is "better" than someone else so when it comes to character we can all relate.

So ya, IMO the older one is the more likely, due to the lack of character issue, one is to be ready to move on and isn't upset about AR feelings being hurt be it for legit or legitimate reasons in their opinion.

Well, you might not have a pitchfork but most do. And mostl they seem to be older, as. Stated in a previous comment, I think the packers front office bumbled this badly, but they can still come out smelling good by selling Rodgers high. They will get a ton back, both Rodgers and the packers actually could benefit, there really might not be a reason to take a side, everyone new what would happen when love was drafted, everyone except apparently our gm and president. Well, now they have what they wanted, plus Rodgers played like a superstar last year so they get bonus picks, so sell already.... time will tell if it was the correct decision, Rodgers is just using his leverage to make a decision for hisself, not the let packers make it for him. I won’t fault him for that.

scully,
I voted you a thumbs up on this, but, I don’t think you understand. Myself, I love the guy, have been a staunch supporter, want him to move on and build his new life, with his new team. I just see where he could have been more about the team than his own stats, his own desires to be seen as the hero, the savior.

It’s over. The time has passed for him to continue here. For him. I get it. He wants out. I wish more fans would take that at face value, rather than jump all over those who are simply listening, paying attention, respecting his wishes. People who understand, yeah, he wants to be traded, regardless of how well set up we are, or how much money fans want to throw at him.

Get it?

Great passer. No doubt. He will forever be part of Packers legacy. It is simply time for him to move on.

Personally, I could care less where Aaron Rodgers is or what he’s doing. OTAs aren’t the issue. If I felt he were still a part of our team, he’s been around long enough to skip them. I believe he’s earned that if he chooses to not attend.

I’m not even sore at him for wanting out of GB to start a new life and play for a different team. He deserves to live his life.

But, don’t play us truly loyal fans for fools, Aaron Rodgers. I don’t like the snarky, underhanded BS... no. None of that with our Packers. It is not conducive to a winning culture, and it is disrespectful. The Packers organization & us fans, season ticket holders, 12 jersey owners, etc. (I’m all of that) deserve much better. Enough is enough.

AND, IF YOU WANT A TRADE, HAVE THE FUCKING STONES TO COME OUT AND ASK FOR ONE. FFS. ALL THIS GODDAM BULLSHIT YOU PUT US THROUGH.

Or....Maybe there are players whose careers are on the line and they know it is to their benefit that their ass is in camp (maybe players like ESB and Funchess should think about this). Maybe some of the players at OTA's 'are' professional men who are able to think out of the box knowing they do not need the NFLPA to tell them what they should or shouldn't do. Early in my career I was in a couple of Union's and will not expound other than to say thank God that was a few life times ago.

I also am finding that many professional sports writers are getting lazy and only want to further speculate from their key board, or doing a short video about the Rodger's and Packers flexing of muscles. Pretty easy to constantly speculate and opine regarding the same old opinion vs actually having to get out and research and interview players, etc. Getting old!

Doesn't say much for Character...just about the money. It's too bad, sure it is a business and money certainly plays its role but if that's all its about, no common goal, support for your brothers, love for fans/community the players are really missing out on so many of the benefits of their positions. Food for the soul. Money can't buy you that.

I'm still encouraged by the players that say its the comradery, competition, common goal amongst their brothers that they miss the most or fear losing the most of losing. Now I sure hope they made their money first as I'm not naive, It's life changing and a small window in the NFL. There's no reason they can't have both....

So many fans sucked into the drama. None of the parties involved give a shit. The bottom line is always money, yours and mine. One way or the other we pay all of their freight. We are simply consumers in their eyes. This whole “Fan” thing is overrated. Fan$ pay all of their salaries, from Murphy to the last guy on the practice squad. Life’s too short for all the frustration generated by these fools, all of them.

Are these pampered narcissistic boys really MEN?

Some most certainly are, but a Union represents ALL, not just some.

Rules have to cover even the weakest or slowest or stupidest of the group. Welcome to group think and unionized policy.

Don't throw a rule away because it shouldn't apply to all, sometimes the whole benefits even when a few are outside the intended outcome, and it is dangerous to attempt to make exceptions and partial applications. Two sides (at least) to everything.

Unions of all kinds are structured around seniority. They function to protect the established not the new. In this case, I think they did a disservice to any younger and more marginal players on any team that stayed away as a result of the Union pronouncements. The Union won’t care if they are cut: they cease to be members and someone else takes their place.

What Union pronouncement. I still would like to see that quote and source. It’s in the Union’s best interest to have players opt out. Both Union and Management want what’s best for themselves. This is simply business. We can throw all sorts of ethical and moral stances we want, but each player must decide what’s best for them. In a perfect world we’d all get our way and it isn’t always us against them.

Win-win for the Packers. Jordan love doesn’t need to defer to Aaron for snaps with the first team, So the Packers get another good look at him. Plus they gain half a mill on next year’s cap.

But anyone who thinks Aaron is actually losing money by not attending ought to think twice. Officially, yes, but when they restructure his contract he’ll gain it right back.

Yeah, johnblood, that’s for his new team to deal with, for sure. Rodgers will be a Bronco in about 1 week. I think it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Likely, Chubb plus 3 R1s. Add other Packers players and it gets even more interesting.

I’m guessing to get an initial set of terms agreed upon, DEN offered Chubb plus the 3 1s, maybe an R2 was something Gutekunst could say yes to before the draft, allowing DEN to take Surtain ll at #9. IMO, Denver had to make an offer good enough to get that “YES,” from the Packers before passing on Fields.

Still think we get Baron Browning too. He just seemed like a perfect addition for GB from R3, and I could see Gutekunst asking for that R3 to seal the deal, and DEN thinking it was a fair deal closer.

Probably wind up taking QB Drew Lock off their hands as well.

If that is the haul for GB to trade AR to DEN, it is solid.

Johnblood, interesting that you say that. DEN did not practice OT/OG Dalton Risner this week. Listed COVID, but, they have all of the players they held out with a variety of reasons.

I liked Risner to the Packers in the 2020 draft - A LOT! He’s an instant starter at either position. 34” arms, just like Bakhtiari.

Moving high priced core players, knowing AR is not returning, makes a lot of sense for the Packers. I love Bak & Davante, but, what kind of return is GB looking at with those two? Is that even possible for DEN? Guessing it could be one or the other. Bak and Lazard? Or Davante & MVS? Pure speculation but the possibilities make sense for both sides.

Now, looking at the number of players on both sides who did not practice this week, and how they fit on the other teams? Yeah, looks very much like this could be a gigantic trade between the two teams.

I also don't care if he's at the OTAs (and beyond). Rodgers reminds me of the guy who gets a shiny new girlfriend - that he becomes infatuated with her to the point that he stops seeing his pals, dresses differently and grows a man bun. This also may be a pre-midlife crisis for him; as a guy approaching middle age - engaged to a younger, alluring woman - who may be pregnant with his child (little "Aaron" or "Erin"). If Ms. Woodley is indeed pregnant, she has probably started to nest - which includes her support network of family and friends. And if she lives in Boulder, Colorado, it's highly unlikely that she will be willing to uproot and settle in Green Bay, Wisconsin. So, "If the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain."

Of course it would be a real dick move for Rodgers to suddenly ditch his team mates and adoring fans. Also imprudent to breach his contract. Rodgers is smart enough to know that such an exit would irrevocably damage his reputation - so he has concocted an artificial conflict - which has attempted to vilify the Packers in a way that it would be no longer possible for him and management to co-exist. Of course it's all B.S. He has yet to definitively state what his exact complaints are with management.

Come the start of this season, I expect that Rodgers will be the starting QB for the Denver Broncos. If so, there may be some short term pain for Packers fans but also a massive long term gain. One day we may even come to thank Rodgers for his egocentric ways.

Long live Love!

Woodley lives part-time in Boulder and she is also a Hollywood actor, producer, and environmental activist. In her circles, she is the star - not so much Rodgers. I very much doubt that she is following him around like a lost puppy dog. If anything. it's the other way around.

P.s. - there is no imaginable way that she is re-locating to Green Bay - with all the work and projects that she has on the go.

I understand. But players often reside with their families during the season in Green Bay. My assertion is that I highly doubt a pregnant Woodley is content in becoming a house frau in Green Bay during the season. So if she stays back in California or Colorado - where do you think Rodgers would rather be? Ergo this faux fight - which he intentionally started.

nbcsportsedge.com just reported that Dean Lowry's contract just got restructured. Ho hum. But, a little mention in the small article says something to the effect that money needs to be moved around if the Packers want to sign Julio Jones. WHAT?!?! First I heard of that speculation. More rumors for the mill.

It's not Lowry's contract that needed to be re-structured - It's Lowry himself - as a better DE.

I give no credence to the Julio rumors. The Packers still need salary space for their own players.

I think Rodgers has already moved on. He is becoming invested with a new group of people with his fiance leading the way. He is completely absorbed in his new surroundings which will most likely affect the way he plays this coming season. Distractions do not help one stay focused. He has the talent to still play well but with his mind elsewhere (marriage, offspring, new celebrity friends, activism, etc.) he isn't leading anyone to a championship. Hopefully some folks are right and a trade has already been worked out with Denver. If not then please work out a trade as quickly as possible when June 1st rolls around.

As far as the receivers skipping OTAs, I don't get it. EQ is fighting for a job, Funchess hasn't played in about two years and although Lazard and MVS are pretty much locks to make the team they are missing out on time with Love who is our potential starting QB and all this during a contract year. I am sure they realize that if they don't have a good year it will affect future earnings. Adams is the only receiver that can't be easily replaced.

If an individual is immunocompromised the vaccine may not have the intended effect. The details of the immunocompromise would have to be known, which I do not know.

I don't think it's massive no. If anything it is actually a good thing Jordan Love gets more needed reps to prep for the starting role either this year or next. I certainly do not expect Rodgers at mini camp either and likely not the beginning of training camp. August could get interesting. Rodgers may have well played his last down for the Packers so bring on the Love era.

A couple short comments: As others have said, nothing is happening till June 1st. At that point, how Rodgers exits will be shaped. (With the Cap as flat as it is, there are only a few teams in the league who have the Cap space. It could be harder to move Rodgers with the current Cap) Combo of salary demands and age could be a real problem in any would-be deal. And how much is Rodgers really worth on the field. Frankly, I'm wondering if the Packers simply release him and let him work his own deal. That's what he might be aiming for. Still Brian Gutekunst has proven to be one of the smartest, most cold blooded GMs in the league. There is no way Rodgers gets off that easy, after all the cheap crap he's pulled this off-season.

People like Chris Simms and Todd McShay were actively reporting last year 'Jordan Love is the outlier, the QB with the most upside to any in the 2020 NFL draft. Being the QB most likely to be Mahomes like'. With that being said, I am not sure I have seen this but what if.......

Anyone who has been an ex-athlete know within minutes of playing with or against another player if they were talented. Period! Doesn't take a year to figure out if the talent is there. Simply minutes of being with a talented player. Rodger's who practiced every day last year with Jordan Love saw A LOT OF TALENT! Rodger's more than anyone would recognize talent even if it is raw and inexperienced. Rodger's has a massive ego as we all know and might it just be possible with the MVP season aside Rodger's knows with Love entering year 2, having a full camp and lots of snaps in pre-season that there just might be significantly more competition in 2021 than anyone else might anticipate? Think about the female WI Olympic runner (Favor Hamilton) some years ago who couldn't keep up in the race and intentionally fell prior to the finish line because she knew she wouldn't win, so she faked an injury. Crazy? Maybe but I do believe Love is going to surprise many of us fans in just how talented he is. Rodgers trying to get out of GB pushing false narratives just might have something to do with where Love is in his development. I'm specifically talking about pure raw talent. Rodgers would still have the field general advantage going into 2021 season with 16+ seasons in the league and having seen every defense possible. What if....Love was to light up camp this summer and have a great pre-season even if Rodgers were to come back? This would justify Gutey's selection of Love and the QB controversy would be gale like winds in GB and out in the public. Remember.....massive massive ego and with Rodger's disdain and hatred towards Gutey it would be unbearable to Rodger's!

Far fetched? Possibly! Out of the realm of possibility absolutely not! I believe there is at least a kernal of truth to the above. It is a young man's game! I also believe LF's offense and the talent around Rodger's significantly helped Rodger's have the MVP season. I believe Love at this point in Rodger's career has more physical talent than Rodger's. Not much question about that! The only difference separating the two of them right now is Rodger's experience and being as cerebral as he is. Each and every rep Love takes that difference or separation of talent dissipates and Rodger's knows it. Time waits for no man!

June 1st cannot come soon enough! Make the damn trade Gutey and fleece Denver or whoever is on the other end of the trade. Go Love and the Green Bay Packers!
