Former Packers General Manager Ron Wolf Joins Pro Football Hall of Fame

Former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, announced Saturday night at the NFL Honors awards show.

Wolf, who worked for the Packers from 1991 to 2001, was the architect of the team's Super Bowl XXXI team.

One of eight members of the 2015 class, Wolf will be enshrined along with running back Jerome Bettis, wide receiver Tim Brown, defensive end Charles Haley, executive Bill Polian, linebacker Junior Seau, offensive linemenn Will Shields and Mick Tinglehoff.

“More or less, my induction is a result of a lot of people that made this all happen," said Wolf. "I’m just one person and had a lot of good people around me. It’s more of a team thing, I think, than anything else. Like Bill (Polian), I’m completely overwhelmed. It’s an honor that one never thinks about or ever thinks capable of going to be able to achieve when you are where I was. Again, like Bill, you owe a lot to the players and the coaches that helped you get to where you are.”

The enshrinement ceremony will take place Saturday Aug. 8 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Oh.

Congratulations to Ron Wolf, an much the embodiment of "old time NFL guy" as is possible. In addition to his well-documented success in GB, he brought in many of the players that took the Bucs to the NFC CG just a few years after they "born".

Wilde & Homer were discussing his candidacy on the radio on Friday. They were both making the point that few people have the kind of appreciation for the history of pro football that Wolf has. Now, he takes his rightful place among those greats.

I hope he has a great time at the induction proceedings!
