Former Packers LB George Koonce Counsels Chris Borland on Retirement Decision

Koonce joined ESPN's Outside the Lines on Tuesday to discuss Borland's decision.

When news of Chris Borland's surprise retirement surfaced on Monday, it sent ripples through the NFL with people wondering about its impact on the future of the game.

Borland discussed his decision in an interview on on ESPN's Outside the Lines Tuesday. Before the episode aired, reporter T.J. Quinn promoted the show social media, sharing a connection to the Green Bay Packers:

Koonce played for the Packers from 1992 to 1999 and more recenty authored the book Is There Life After Football? Surviving the NFL.

ESPN has yet to share video from Koonce on its website, but the media outlet did post an interview with Koonce on its OTL Extra segment via its ESPN3 platform.

Koonce talked about rule changes in the NFL and did express hoped that the game would become safer and it could trickle down to the lower levels of football.

Just what the Packers (didn't) need, another team, ahead of them in the draft order, desperate for ILB help. No disrespect to Chris, but damn.
