They won. By more than a score. Moving on.
Looks like Dallas gave the blueprint to defeat the defense. Haf is going to Haf to adjust.
Quick throws negating the pass rush. Running up the middle. And an accurate and cool QB who can deliver down the field.
The Lions have that. The Steelers maybe. But Flacco was excellent today. Just like Dak last week. Not too many will be.
Good game by Love after the stupid pick. He’s got to stop that one head scratching throw per game. Otherwise very good.
Offensive line got better as the game went on. Hopefully as health improves that will accelerate.
Special teams were. Tolerable?
This team needs a DT in the worst way. Without Wyatt in there. The cupboard is bare. That’s what really concerns me most.

Packers should trade for Calais Campbell.

Packers D is good, but they need more sacks and turnovers. Offense is so close to being awesome. I think the end around is overused and teams know when it's coming. Special teams was good today, the new kicker did great.

Feel really good about Jordan love and the offense.
What happened to that ferocious pass rush from the first 3 weeks? Feels like haffley had to blitz the last few weeks.
They really miss devante Wyatt. Alot.
If golden stays in bounds and love dives for first down, green bay couldve potentially run the clock out.
Valentine should not be sitting while Hobbs plays poorly down in down out.

Hafley got out coached in the 2nd half. A big drop by Cincinnati and missed FG sealed it.

Whew—I feel guilty for the uneasy feeling I had about this game. My hope was—just get a win.
I thot like Dak, Flacco played out of his mind.
I’m not sure why we can’t sack these QBs—I know they are getting the ball out —but c’mon.
If this entire team could somehow seize the gritty- never-stop attitude of Jacobs and Kraft, we’d be unstoppable.
We won—whew!
Go Packers!!!

Nixon has problems controlling his hands resulting in TDs or penalties.

Not too many CBs would hold up in 1-1 coverage against Jamar Chase. Maybe none. On several of those plays, Nixon had good coverage and was beaten by an excellent throw and an excellent catch.

Nixon was playing the best receiver in the game and was right on his hip all game. I thought he did well. But ah yes, these are Packer fans, the D is going to give up 18 points and the fans are going to wonder what's wrong with the D.

The team just survived the Joe Flacco led Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, it's a win but is that a Superbowl contender? A Superbowl contender would have routed the Bengals without repeating the same mistakes they've made before. The good news is that there's a lot of the season left to correct the problems that point to "no". The bad news is, they just survived the Cincinnati Bengals. What have we seen from the coaching staff that says they can turn it around? Not nearly enough.

"The good news is that there's a lot of the season left to correct the problems that point to "no"."
And that's the key.
Nobody wins a SB in September or October...but they can fritter away their chance to play for one. 3-1-1...win and move on. Get better next week and each of the following.

I'll give Joe Flacco his due. To come into a new team with just a few days to learn their playbook he managed a pretty decent second half. The guy was tossing some pretty good passes out there. Cincy needed someone to stop the hemorrhaging of interceptions and they apparently got him.
Green Bay got the win and I'm still concerned.

Another game that should be a reality check, but, previous commenters seem undaunted in their denial. Do they actually put Cin high on the ladder, or simply happy the Packers can squeeze out wins against the lowest rung occupiers?

"Lowest rung occupiers" reminded me of a song by the late great John Hartford:
The Lowest Pair
Much further off than inevitable
Halloween's they game
Sky King is come, and Wilma's done
Uncertain, as it is uneven
Give us this day hors d'oeuvres in bed
As we forgive those who have dressed up against us
And need us not enter inflation
But a liver, onions, and tomatoes
For wine on a shingle, and a mower
And a story for your father
All right

Have you noticed the league this season? Nobody is breezing to easy wins. The usual suspects are not playing like top teams the first half of the season. Offense finally got the starting lineup on the line and Jacoba took off. But still missing their 2 top WRs. The rookie WR looked good. The offense has a good chance to improve with the return of Watson and Reed. And the starting lineup gets some time playing together.
Flacco is a smart veteran and Chase is an all-world WR. Defense held them to 18 points. No they don’t look like Super Bowl level right now but who does? Lots to be hopeful for though.

"Game was never in doubt" ??
Were we watching the same game ? They could just not stop Bengals in second half, only Fg was becasu of bad drop by Iosivas. I had a very Cleveland like feeling before great 3rd down conversion to Golden. Had it failed, who would stop Flacco ?
Besides that , Golden and Jacobs looked today fastest this season.
But a win is a win, that is great.

I am all onboard with a win is a win. Lots of good things to point to.
Of course, I just don’t feel we put foot to ass to finish the opposition off. I feel like we are more afraid of “losing” than “winning” the game. Defense became worried about containment and running out the clock. Jordan Love slides two yards short when if he dives the game is over. Played for a FG (with a waiver wire guy!) I don’t know maybe they are playing it smart.

Say what you want about Joe Flacco (and I did!), but that dude played so well today. And, he sure doesn't need this sh*t! Why on God's gray earth would a 40 year-old QB play in Cleveland and then Cincy for any other reason than love of the game. Hat's off to him.
As for the Packers? Jeepers this team is, how do you say it, not fun to watch. So many talented players and so many inexplicable plays. Was the OL better? Maybe. Special teams? Sure. D? Sometimes swarming, sometimes unswarming. MLF in-game shenanigans? I suppose we should give him a belly rub for not tripping on his dick.
Are the Packers right where they wan to be? Probably. Are they a good football team? I'm not sure.
I heard there's another game next week! GPG

Not dominant and had a little drama, but it took care of business. It's tough to draw any conclusions about where we are headed going forward given the state of the opponent. The Bengals probably played as well as they could have with a new QB.
Our defense giving up a 10-minute, 17-play drive is unacceptable.
See what happens when you get the ball to Golden? Jacobs. Doubs, Golden, and Kraft--here are our playmakers, so there shouldn't be any excessive wading through the myriad of options.
Love has the habit of sliding too early that he needs to correct. Also that INT...jeez, just throw it away.
The new kicker did a good job.
I think I'm getting tired of football. When I see Hopper flagged for "unnecessary roughness", it makes me wonder why I am watching such nonsense. Maybe I missed something?

The other huge one for me is that's it's too easy to draw to defensive PI; you always hear that "the defender didn't get his head turned around in time", but that's often hard to do when chasing the receiver down a vertical line.
TheKanataThrilla

Sad thing is that the Hopper "unnecessary roughness" penalty was better than the terrible taunting penalty on Skattebo on Thursday. It seems the league gives way too much power to the refs to influence the game.

The Bengals were more Lucky then good.
Pushing the pile at the right Time.
Great catches by great WRs.
And a veteran Qb who didn't panic.
His Quick release made him look like a gunslinger.
Something more teams are going to go too.
And the packers must adjust to it.
I never thought we'd lose the game.
If Love stays on target.
The Packers will continue to win.

I'm concerned. OL did not look good either pass blocking or run blocking. Continued mistakes and clock management issues at critical times. Why does the defense looked gassed again before the first half is over. Lack of sacks and turnovers by our elite defense is worrying. Offense still doesn't look consistent.

Another game with no turnovers by the defense created a slim margin of error. The offense got it done in the second half, as they should have against a Bengals defense without Trey Hendrickson.
I give Hafley credit for calling more blitzes in the second half, but unfortunately they did not work well.
Another nice drive by Jordan Love at the end. This one iced the game. He had what should have been game-wining drives against the Browns and Cowboys, but the special teams and defense couldn't close those games out. This time the lead was nine points, so it was in the bag.

October 13, 2025 at 10:07 am
He cannot bring Nixon from the slot any longer as he is the "lockdown guy"The cross blitzing may come back with Wyatt. Quay is not an instinctive guy and leaves guys open too easily in the short zones. The opposition attacks those areas. McKinney is playing a bit too conservatively and had a few chances for bust ups but held back on the launch. Maybe Hobbs goes to slot as Bullard deals with concussion issues? They need another CB. Harper was a good claim by Detroit. Maybe Asante Samuel,Jr clears recovery protocol and they can bid for his services?

The nixon hate is excessive. He was right there on Jamar chase's ass on every play. Chase just made some awesome plays. Haffley was blitzing and left nixon alone with Jamar chase who is arguably the most talented wr in the nfl. Calm down guys. If you actually watch the games, Hobbs is the problem.

GregC
October 12, 2025 at 08:53 pm
Why was the coaching an issue? I'd love to hear your analysis based on not having watched the game.
Really, I think the main reason this game was fairly close was that the Packers committed a turnover and the Bengals did not. The Bengals crept to within six points but never had the ball with a chance to take the lead. The Packer offense closed it out easily with a drive for a field goal at the end.

Packer fans need to hear this over and over. The NFL is a week to week league. You are only as good as your gameplan in a given week. At their best, this team made the Lions look like a joke. At their worst, they made the Browns look like a good team. The Packers are neither as good as they looked against the Lions, or as bad as they looked against the Browns. Y'all got to stop taking every week and making season-long pronouncements out of it. Take the win. Move on.
Oh. And enjoy it. Sports are supposed to be fun.

October 12, 2025 at 09:10 pm
I listened to Ross Uglem's post-game show (he was sitting in for Andy H).
I appreciated his matter-of-fact style and he calmly said that none of the Packer's CB's were ranked above level 64. He said they cannot often contest 50-50 balls nor do they have starting-caliber CB ball-handling skills. They can bat balls away, tackle and be 'sticky' but none of them are on the level of the best CB's. So, we cannot expect them to cover the way a starting caliber CB would. GB has invested in Pass Rush and Safeties in FA and the Draft
so far, but we have known the CB room was thin.

The Packer's Defense is missing Devante Wyatt and this is exposing the less talented Wooden, Stackhouse and Brooks. The Loss of run-blockers Kenny Clark and TJ Slaton is noticeable as well.

Watching one guy double and triple teamed all game and van ness gets one sack for the packers is embarrassing. Gary makes 20 mill a year and still can’t find the qb. And Joe Flacco just got there. The d pass rush is embarrassing just like Dallas when every replay shows one guy double or tripled team. Not understanding what the rest of the line is doing and wait till you play a real offense. It’s getting old when you see this the last two weeks.

So far they're the same team they were last year, which is not the team that beat the brakes off the cowboys in the playoffs, and came a couple dumb throws away from the nfc championship game at least. 1-1-1 against inferior teams.

Packers defense gave up less than 20 points on less than 220 passing yards and less than 60 rushing yards.
I know the long drive didn't feel good, but at the end of the day, that defense did its job.
Packers defense haven't lost their pass rush, you're seeing the results of having a dominant pass rush. OC's are not chancing the QB staying in the pocket, they're getting the ball out of the QBs hand immediately.
Opening up competition at RG (rotation of Rhyan and Morgan) seems to have paid early dividends, still need to see more improvement from this group.
Love went 9 regular season games without a pick heading into 2025, but now with his horrible ball protection on display so far this year... he's on pace for a 30 TD / 7 INT season. The horror, the horror.
It wouldn't be a Packers season with Packers fans if the sky wasn't always falling.
Honestly, I'm getting tired of it.
It's a win. Enjoy it.

Flacco got the ball out in lightening speed, faster than 90% of Pass Rushers can run. That's all the Bengals can do-
Lightening-fast, often-accurate passes to world-class WR's. GB's secondary cannot keep up.
Defense is struggling w/o Wyatt.
barutanseijin
October 13, 2025 at 10:33 am
So in other words, you’re not satisfied with the amount of style points the defense is scoring.
In a game where the Packers were scoring on every possession, a 10min drive from the other team only shortens the game and reduces their chances of winning. It might have been a problem if the Packers had not dominated the Bengals and TOP in the first half. But that’s not the what happened, and the Bengals dink dunk game wasn’t nearly enough to win the game.
NFLfan
October 13, 2025 at 10:49 am
The Bengals clearly adjusted in the second half to what they diagnosed as GB weaknesses.
GB fans don't want to admit that they have a very weak Secondary and if the opposing QB gets the ball out fast, it neutralizes the Pass Rush, leaving the Secondary out-gunned.. GB also does not have an answer for the loss of Wyatt, Clark and Slaton. Wooden and Brooks are not as capable.
