Josh Myers will miss Bengals game with finger injury

The rookie center had been playing through the injury for the last few weeks.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur indicated during his Friday press conference that rookie center Josh Myers will miss Sunday's game with the Bengals due to a lingering finger injury.

LaFleur said Myers had been playing through the injury, and indeed he was a listed on the injury report last week as a limited participant.

However, the Packers medical staff apparently stepped in and drew a hard line on the rookie's participation, and Myers has not participated in practice this week.

LaFleur would not give any details on what the team would being doing at center on Sunday, but two possibilities are Elgton Jenkins, who will be listed as Questionable with an ankle injury, or Lucas Patrick, who has played center several times in the past when Corey Linsley went down.

Bummer. Just when this line started to gel with all the newbies another change on the line is immediate. Now let’s see what Steno can cook up? I wonder who is next on the plate?

Jenkins plays every snap yet has a ankle injury sustained in the game , why did he play every snap ?, Z Smith limited practice , back issues yet plays then aggravates it and may be out for the season , Alexander we still don’t know , now Myers ? Who is the team doctor , Dr Fauci ?

Why didn’t zadarius smith have back surgery during the off season when injury happened?? Was he that mad with front office he decided to screw over team and season this year??

It's his last season in GB and he can now collect his paycheck without playing.

Let's put on our "thinking caps" for just a couple minutes. No one is going to pay "Z" big money after not playing for a "whole year" due to a back injury that required surgery. Just is not going to happen. Please, stop saying BS just to be provocative...it's getting very tiring.

Think! "Z" really wants to play! That's how he show is VALUE! Don't be surprised if he finds his way back to the Packers.....unless he doesn't heal from his back surgery...well see.

I believe they restructured his contract so releasing him after this season is easier, and a good reason for him to play invisibly in week one and then decide to have surgery two weeks later fits the thinking he is collecting a year pay knowing he will be gone and free to sign elsewhere with a healed and rested body.

Many times the pain is not intense and most players will try to play through it. It can be bothersome but doesn't inhibit movement or restrict play. Then it gets worse and its comes down to surgery or try to work through the pain. Surgery is often season ending, and most players don't want to lose those months and spend the effort rehabbing after a major injury. Often times the surgery is not as good as the body was prior to the operation.

Exactly. Especially if the operation will be on a very or extremely important part to perform the necessary moves that the player must make.

How many more blows can the O-line sustain before it has major problems? I think Patrick plays at center and Jenkins is kept in reserve for any more injuries, but the risk of getting QB1 seriously damaged just keeps increasing. Hopefully Steno has another miracle up his sleeve.

If the drop off is so steep it's going to risk the health of QB1.... Wouldn't it be fortunate if the Packers were so lucky as to have a running back capable of putting the load on his shoulders?

..Now, imagine if you will, if we had TWO running backs capable of doing that. I wouldn't dare to dream it.

It would be down-right crazy if we might even have a 3rd RB who loks explosive to chip in, too.

Come to think of it, that would help our depleted defense as well. Minimal pass rush + banged up secondary = recipe for disaster. I think Sunday could be a shootout.

Dare to dream, Oppy.

I’d like to see us run more and pass less, but in our last three games we’ve averaged 30ppg doing what we do, and we’ve won all three. I don’t think that we’re going to change much unless we’re forced to. I would like to see us go old school on short yardage, by putting Dillon behind a pile driver lead blocker, but that wouldn’t be consistent with the illusion of complexity, the motion and misdirection. So I don’t expect to see that either.

I'm with ya. Who is our pile driving lead blocker? Maybe Deguara? Dafney?

Myers and Kelly are born on a 7 days and will have above average injury risk as will Turner being in his enemy year (ditto Bahk)>>

All in is becoming all injured. This is the frustrating part about being a football fan. I wish all these guys speedy recoveries.

I would consider Myers injury a relatively minor one. He’ll be back soon, rested and healthy, along with Jenkins and Bakhtiari.

This is the problem with mortgaging the future to go all in and win now. As my Uncle Murphy (rest his soul), always said, “Whatever can go wrong will, at the worst possible time.” Or as my son frequently says, “ You have to plan on stuff going wrong because stuff ALWAYS goes wrong.”

Injuries considered, I still think we have a very good chance of winning the division.
