Expectations coming into the season:  Perillo missed part of the preseason with a concussion and ended up on the practice squad for the second straight year. His role has yet to be made clear - he's not a good blocker, isn't fast, isn't an exceptional pass-catcher and doesn't have great size. Mostly it appears as if he is just a warm body on occasion.

Player’s highlights/low-lights: Week 10 against the Detroit Lions, Perillo caught what could have been the game-tying touchdown if the Packers had converted the two-point conversion. On the play, Perillo was able to get behind the defense on a deep route and Aaron Rodgers easily got the ball to him for a score. Overall during the game, Perillo was on the field for a career high 17 snaps and caught five of six targets.

His low point would be any time he was asked to block, particularly on run plays where he was especially brutal.

Level of Expectations met:  There were few expectations of Perillo, so that bar is pretty low. He cleared it, but didn't do anything to really excite or impress.

Grade: C+

Player’s contributions to team success:  Perillo really had no impact on the season, save for that Week 10 effort.

Grade: D-

Player’s contributions in the playoffs:  Perillo was inactive for the Wild Card game against Washington and played just 11 snaps total - six on offense, five on special teams - against Arizona. In other words, he had virtually no impact.

Grade: F

Intangibles/misc: Perillo appears to be a hard worker and is clearly persistent given he has hung around and been promoted off the practice squad two years in a row.

Grade: C+

Overall Grade:  D+

Exceeded expectations since there were none... I don't think he will be on the roster next season.

They should have re-signed TE Colt Lyerla if they wanted a real impact TE.

Arena football wide receiver for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. He also played prop for AS Carcassonne in the Elite One Championship rugby league. Clearly would be better than anyone in the NFL, except Gronk maybe.
I think we have all seen who he was when he was in training camp with the Packers. Even Perillo is better...

There's no emoji or acronym that I could use to accurately describe the amount of laughing I'm doing right now

Well, unless Perillo turned into a cold-blooded reptilian, he met the author's expectation of being an available warm body. I don't remember anything drastically terrible about his play when he did manage to get on the field. Grade C+.

He played in 9 games only, and had 115 snaps. He caught 11 passes on 13 targets (85%) with no drops, for a 9.3 yd/catch average (versus RR's 8.8 yd. average) and 1 TD, but in a very small sample size. Sounds like Perillo was a reliable target to me. No penalties were called on Perillo.

If asked about his blocking, I'd have to say that I don't know, that I have no particular opinion. I don't recall any brutally bad blocking, or any particularly good blocks either for that matter. Looking for stats is difficult. McGinn assigned to Perillo 0.5 bad runs, zero sacks allowed, and zero pressures allowed in those 115 snaps, whereas RR was assigned 16.5 bad runs, 1 sack and 4 pressures in 799 snaps. IDK, maybe McGinn missed all those brutally bad blocks, or they didn't fit his definitions of a pressure allowed or of a bad run.

I do agree that Perillo has no real outstanding physical characteristic. At only 6' 2.7", he is not tall. At 250 lbs, he is not large. He ran a 4.76 second forty at his pro day, which is faster than RR ran at his pro day or the combine, but nothing to write home about. He was reputed to have good hands and to run pretty well in scouting reports. The author notes he was able to get deep against Detroit, but that is just a single instance. He was targeted 13 times in his 115 snaps (11.3%) whereas RR was targeted 85 times in his 799 snaps (10.64%). A player can only contribute as much as the coaching staff allows. Per snap, he did okay as a receiver. I'd give him a C+ per snap. His aggregate stats show a minor contribution at best to the team. I'd agree with the author and give him a D- in the overall contribution to the team.
Overall Grade: D+

Perillo made some nice catches this year.

But lets be honest. If he is on our Roster again in 2016 that means that Thompson did a horrible job at getting a TE to help this team out.

They have to get an upgrade at the position.

Agreed. Playing him over Quarless after he returned tells you a lot about Quarless. The most opportune position for a job in 2016 is at TE but unfortunately (if the so called experts are right for once) the TE talent level in the upcoming draft is marginal at best.

10-6 with him, 10-6 without him. Get a real TE and chuck him. Thanks, Since '61

He's the kind of player that every team has on their roster, but nobody wants to have to use.
