Lambeau Field to host exhibition between Man City and Bayern Munich

Expect tickets to go on sale in early April for the July event.

Per The Mayor:

The Packers have hosted college football games and major concerts in the recent past but haven't been able to book any major offseason events the last few years due to the pandemic.

Getting two of the worlds biggest football clubs to play an exhibition in Lambeau will only help solidify Green Bay as a year round destination, not just a place to visit during football season.

This news comes on the heels of Green Bay losing out on hosting the 2024 NFL draft to downtown Detroit. Expect the Packers to continue to pursue that possibility and to use events like Man City vs Bayern Munich to showcase Lambeau and Titletown as a premiere event space.

Yeah , living in the midwest you could always just watch the grass grow or, better yet, the paint dry.

Wow, these are two of the world's biggest clubs. I remember watching Bayern in the 90s go up against Manchester United. City has really come a long way since the new owners took over and bumped Man United aside as the best club in Manchester.

If you like soccer, then you'll get your money's worth. If you're just curious, check it out (assuming ticket prices aren't insane). If soccer isn't your thing, then just focus on training camp since it'll be starting right around this time anyway.

“Exhibition” game is the equivalent of Pre-season NFL Football. Let’s hope the ticket price reflects that reality.

Well, I expect that @AaronNagler will be making a trip to Lambeau Field.

I really wonder how this will draw. There are a lot of soccer dads and soccer moms in the area, but will they pay to see the real thing? I hope so.

Probably sell out. UW-Green Bay is a strong soccer school for Women and Men. Soccer is played all over Wisconsin now. There will be Fans road tripping from Chicagoland and the land of Purple Shipwrecks.

I spent several months in London in 1976. I was staying in Acton and nearby was the home of the Queens Park Rangers club. I had never attended a 'football' match before but it was a blast. One match a guy did the 'bicycle kick' for a goal and the crowd went berserk. A really, really old guy in front of me(drunk) turned around and said, "We'll get those *****!" then he passed out.

A national sports writer said people from all over the U.S. Canada, England and Germany are expected to come to Green Bay. He thought it would be a sellout with many in the stands from other countries.
