Marquez Valdes-Scantling returns to practice

Chandon Sullivan also returned while David Bakhtiari did not practice.

The Packers are not only getting guys back from long term injuries at just the right time, the week off due to having the only bye week in the NFC playoffs seems to be helping get guys with short term ailments back on the practice field as well.

Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling and cornerback Chandon Sullivan, who both missed last week's practice sessions, were back on the practice field on Tuesday afternoon as the team starts to prepare for Saturday night's Divisional showdown with the San Francisco 49ers.

The team also saw both Za'Darius Smith and Jaire Alexander on the practice field and head coach Matt LaFleur indicated the team is hopeful that both will play on Saturday night.

One major absence from the practice field on Tuesday was left tackle David Bakhtiari, who played in the Week 18 game against the Detroit Lions. It was his first game action since tearing his ACL in practice toward the end of last year.

LaFleur would not commit to Bakhtiari being available on Saturday against the 49ers, saying only they are continuing to take things day by day with their All Pro offensive lineman.

I hope they are just giving Bakh some time to rest it, and not because there's a problem. Thank God for Yosh being available.

Hope so too - and thought he would be back mid season - I think that he is going to under go another procedure and that he will this offseason to be really back. This is dragging on way too long to have confidence in his recovery.

I would not bother with Bak coming in. He is not conditioned for a full game and it will probably show at the wrong time. He's been out over a year and is not fully back. Poor rehab setback is to blame probably too much too soon. I'm good with Yosh and the rest. If JA can't start...what are we doing wrong. Guys that start need to be able to go the whole game or they are not helping. If they can't practice they will not be conditioned for a slugfest game we are expecting. Possibly a sub for a series or 2 at best. It's too bad. GPG

This is certainly not encouraging about Bahk. The fact that he needed second procedure and is having a slow return from that means that something is not right. He might be able to "fill in" but playing a whole game maybe another issue. More importantly, his future may be in doubt. He's not young, he's taking a long time to return, he hasn't really played in a year and who knows if he'll need additional surgery? Lastly, it usually takes a year to back back to playing comfortably. There's a lot of questions here and a lot of long term concerns.
