Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy met with the media on Wednesday, following the first practice of the week in advance of the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The following are select comments from McCarthy's press conference:

• On injuries to linebackers Clay Matthews (groin) and Nick Perry (shoulder): Just some things that bothered them during the game. Nick might get some limited work tomorrow.
• On the groin injury to Jarrett Bush: Jarrett is a tremendous worker, so I think sometimes we have to protect him from himself. … We're going to be smart with him tomorrow.
• On Matthews practicing on a limited basis: Just speaking with him, he doesn't have high concern. We'll see how he feels tomorrow.
• On Josh Sitton's toe injury: I think Josh, he's played very well. There's some subtle differences. I think any time a player goes through a changes, there's adjustments that have to be made.
• On playing outside at Minnesota: I liked the Metrodome. I thought it was a great environment. … I thought really it beats you up by the end of the day, but the environment in there was incredible. … I definitely enjoyed it. I thought it was unique. … I'm not going to say I missed it, but I enjoyed playing there.
• On anticipated crowd noise: It's an outdoor game. I think any time the Vikings and the Packers get together, it's going to be spirited and the fan interaction is going to be high.
• On guarding against over-confidence: The message of handling success is something we've talked about since Day 1. I think you always try to give the same message differently. Today, we tried to pay attention to the Packers and the Vikings.
• On Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater: Talented, gets the ball out of his hand, can throw it. I think he's a young, improving quarterback. I like the way he plays.
• On the race between the Packers and the Lions: No, I don't think you race against anybody. I think the race you have to run is your own. … The importance of winning your fourth division game is extremely high. Statistics will tell you that. … We're developing a style of play that's consistent of play of late. Our quality of play has improved. … It's as clear as that. … They're a first-year program that's building. … These division games are always the hardest of the year.
• On whether he paid attention to Adrian Peterson: I did not. I really just stayed focused on the film and particularly what they've done since our game.
• On the Vikings defense: I think the Vikings defense, is definitely … I think you're seeing the path of a first-year defense, a very well-coordinated defense. … I think their pass rush, they're very talented. They've always had good players.
• On the impact of Nick Perry's injury: Nick's working through his situation, but you have to get your whole team ready. We don't just rep our 53, we rep all 63 of them to a point. … If you're going about it the right way, and we definitely are pushing as hard as we can this week … your week may change.
• On the team's run-pass balance: I think whatever the numbers are, you have to look at the numbers. Approach, intent are things that don't show up on a statistics sheet. … I don't really think it's important, because at the end of the day, it's about scoring points.
• On the Packers defense: We feel good about a number of things we're doing situationally. … Our guys are comfortable in what we're doing down there. They play fast. It's all about playing fast, fits, pursuit. … Our defense, that's been a strength this year.
• On Micah Hyde: To me Micah Hyde is a football player, he's a four-down football player. Whether he's the starting nickel or not, that's not the way we approach it. … Micah is just a good, young player that's made a big jump in his second year. … We have great competition, particularly in the secondary.
• On Mike Neal: Mike Neal is doing very well. His availably has been excellent. … I think he's more comfortable in what's being asked of him, and how he's doing it. And I think he's clearly more comfortable than he was last year.
