One Last Impact: Rodgers’ Steelers and Love’s Packers Can Help One Another

Have you ever heard the old expression “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”? The phrase is an ancient proverb meaning two competitors can team up against a common foe. In weeks 16 and 17 of the NFL Season this year, former Packers future hall of fame Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and current Packers quarterback Jordan Love have the chance to live out this quote en route to a playoff berth and division title.

Here's how. Green Bay plays the Chicago Bears this week, while the Pittsburgh Steelers play at the Detroit Lions. If Green Bay can come away victorious Saturday Night at Soldier Field, coincided with a Steelers win in Detroit, the Packers will have clinched a playoff spot.

Looking ahead to week 17, Green Bay will be taking on the Ravens at home. With Pittsburgh already holding the tiebreaker over the Ravens as of right now. If the Steelers can take care of their own business in either week 16 vs Detroit or week 17 vs the Browns, and the Packers handle Baltimore, Green Bay will have helped their former leader of the huddle likely secure a trip to his 12th career postseason via an AFC North crown.

With lots of hypotheticals being made of these games being won by both the Packers and Steelers, each ones’ track record shines positively on the potential of these happening.

Rodgers has had a dominant career record vs the Lions. An 18-8 all-time record marching to the beat of a .720 winning percentage, with 54 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. If anyone is up for the task of taking on a depleted Detroit Lions team in late December, its Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers.

The Packers have been nearly unstoppable in Chicago. 8-1 in Chicago for the last 10 years, Green Bay will make the trip for this Saturday Night to Soldier Field. With a 4-1 record vs the Bears in his career, Jordan Love has renewed the so called “Ownership” of the Bears following suit of former owner Aaron Rodgers (24-5 vs Bears).

Green Bay will host the Baltimore Ravens in week 17 in what seems to be a team fighting for their playoff life. The Packers have protected home field advantage well in the regular season since Love’s taking over (16-8). In what will be Green Bay’s final regular season home game of the season, if the same level of play as all other games at Lambeau is replicated the Packers will have a great chance.

Seemingly every year the NFL faces the classic joke of following a script for viewer engagement. From former Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford going back to Detroit for their first playoff game in 32 years. Or Peyton Manning facing off against the Colts in the 2015 divisional playoff game in Denver. This year, Packers fans get to experience their own plot that is as nostalgic as you could possibly imagine.

For each side to help one another, the play from those who once shared the same quarterback room will be vastly important. In what may be the final time Aaron Rodgers squares off against an NFC North opponent, although not being a member of the Green Bay Packers, it is only right for it to still be helping the team he will go into football immortality with.

As for Jordan Love, he holds the power of helping his predecessor return to the stage he himself may have embarked on his ability of being so cool, calm, and collected in bigger moments. The power of watching.

"If Green Bay can come away ......"

"If the Steelers can take care of their own business in either week 16 vs Detroit or week 17 vs the Browns, and the Packers handle Baltimore......."

Well....lets just see what happens.
******************

BUT...lets imagine if you will, that it was Favre playing the Lions after he left the Packers instead of Rodgers.
Does Favre not 'try' real hard to beat the Lions, hoping to stick it to the Packers?

Stranger things have happened, but i just don't see the Steelers beating the Lions at Ford Field

Well, thanks very much Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. That was a crazy one at the finish.

Old Aaron looked pretty good in that game as well.

At this point, any little bit helps.
