Cobb was a solid returner early in his career.

Speed has always been important, but it’s only one factor. I’m a fan of tall WRs and always have been, but staying healthy, and catching, and being able to block. You can scheme a guy open if you want to, or need to.

It is apparent that Gute likes big WRs.

I think our #2 WR spot is like a fullback.....somebody who doesn’t see the ball a lot but helps in other ways.

Pitch and catch with Adams and get the ball to the RBs. I think that’s about 75% of our offense right there.

If there is an opening day, yeah. And assuming there is, how do you think rookie's will do with less of an offseason? Even with a weak/expensive crop of FA WRs, we needed one who fit the WR2 bill. I don't think Funchess does that. I don't think he will mesh well with ARod (no speed, drops, inconsistent routes, mental errors). I don't think he's any better than Lazard. So... he removes Kumerow? Great. Really aiming high there...

I hear that many teams are inserting language that voids parts of the payment, notably signing bonuses, if a player can’t pass a physical with the team doctors at an unspecified future date.

This could be an issue for players coming off certain injuries. Probably contributes to Snacks being unsigned. It may also mean some contracts may not come together now.

They burned him last year during his tryout, he signed with KC the next day and he ended up with a SB ring. Spagnola knew how to use him in his flex 4-3/. He performed well during the playoffs and was a Big Play guy the second half of the KC comeback SB Win. He had zero motivation to be back in Green Bay.

At the very least, he's an option that can check in and out of various spots. Adds a lot of versatility when the Packers go to their 2-back looks to be able to keep the same players on the field and limit defensive substitutions.

The DT position is unlikely to see another Clark due to where we draft and the DT class. So we are presumably not talking about the rare beast, a truly disruptive DT.

If that is the case, there are still some FAs available, as well as later round draft candidates. Pure run pluggers don’t fly off the board.

So we may draft or sign, but I don’t expect anything more than a new Lancaster if we do. Great if we upgrade the position, but I don’t see an obvious high pick that will do more than block the middle and likely to fall to us.

There is also the possibility that they know something impeded Lancaster late in the season and see most of those talked about as merely more costly equivalents.

The good news is that there are usually big but one dimensional DTs in UDFA (Lancaster was one) and in later FA at a low price.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Gute took either or both of those approaches if the draft doesn’t drop something more in his lap.

I’m not sure a player like Raglan holds any interest. It seems plausible that run stuffing ILBs only survived in GB the last two yeasts as the result of injury necessity.

I like Summers from the beginning but as bad as the Packers were he did not get 1 single defensive snap so I doubt we see him this season much more or enough to make a difference. A rookie linebacker from the draft is not gonna come in and take command of a complex nfl defense from the get go. Gute dropped the ball this season.

They will draft two, he can haggle over them.

Based on the last couple of years, if we don’t bring in a Raglan type it will probably be a good sign that we have upgraded, since it’s pretty clear that’s option c at best in the view of the team.
