Packers Calendar: Defense on Display at Washington Pro Day

Danny Shelton, Marcus Peters, Shaq Thompson and Hau'oli Kikaha will work out for NFL scouts on Thursday.

Considering the all the elite talent available for perusal at Washington's pro day on Thursday, it would be suprising if the Green Bay Packers were not in attendance.

The Huskies had four players invited to the NFL Combine, and all four of them are potential first round draft picks, albeit probably a longshot for outside linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha.

Kikaha joins defensive lineman Danny Shelton, cornerback Marcus Peters and jack of all trades Shaq Thompson, who will all work out in front of NFL scouts.

Yes, despite being kicked off the team mid-season, Peters—one of the top-rated cornerbacks in this year's draft class—will take part.

“I recently went up there a couple of weeks ago and had a real good conversation with Coach (Chris) Petersen," said Peters at the Combine. "We sat down and we talked about everything that happened. I sincerely apologized to him again for what I put him and the team through throughout this year. But it was a good conversation and he welcomed me into the pro day.’’

The Packers should also be interested in seeing Thompson, who would prefer to play linebacker in the NFL, although both safety and running back can't be ruled out either.

Other pro day events being held on Thursday include those at Maryland and Florida Atlantic.

Maryland is notable for a pair of wide receivers—Stefon Diggs and Deon Long—both of whom have a chance to hear their name called in the NFL Draft.

Defensive backs, meanwhile, will be the stars of the show at Florida Atlantic, where cornerback D'Joun Smith and safety Damian Parms will participate.
