Packers Family Night Tickets Sold Out

The decision not to hold a scrimmage at Lambeau Field appears to have had little impact on ticket sales.

The annual Green Bay Packers Family Night sold out on Monday, the team announced, with nearly 73,000 tickets accounted for.

Fans appear not have been deterred by the organization's choice not to have a scrimmage in 2014. Instead, the evening will feature a full practice, which will include 11-on-11 sessions with live contact.

Tickets had been on sale for almost exactly a week.

The Packers struggled to sell out the last playoff game at Lambeau Field, a wildcard contest against the San Francisco 49ers this past January, however the circumstances were drastically different.

The price, weather and level of optimism are all factors in contrast to the playoff game, not to mention the team's policy not to offer refunds for playoff tickets had the team not qualified.

This year's edition marks the eighth time Family Night has sold out in the past 14 years.

Held on Saturday Aug. 2, the yearly training camp staple will also include a game-llke atmosphere with the use of video boards, music and a fireworks display to cap off the evening.

For fans not attending the event, WLUK-TV FOX 11 again will originate a statewide telecast. In addition to Green Bay, the event will be televised on WITI-TV in Milwaukee, WMSN-TV in Madison, WFXS-TV in Wausau, WLAX-TV in La Crosse and WEUX-TV in Eau Claire.

Hosted by Drew Smith and other members of the Fox 11 sports and news staffs, the live broadcast will start at 7 p.m.
