Packers Question of the Day: Expectations for Sunday

The most important pair of games on the Packers' schedule begins this Sunday at Lambeau Field and ends next Sunday in Cleveland.

It's the slate of games between now and when quarterback Aaron Rodgers is eligible to return, which would be Dec. 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

Right now, however, it all starts with getting that second win under their belts with Brett Hundley at the helm.

What're your expectations for Sunday?

Since Hundley has taken over I honestly have had no expectations. I really don't know what to expect.

I think the Packers can win this game. But they need Hundley to play like the Steelers and not like the Ravens games.

If Jones can come back he will give the offense a boost. I actually really like the 1-2 punch of Jones and Williams. They compliment each other well.

I am looking forward to Sunday's game.
If they win, there are still playoff hopes, and the possibility of Rodgers returning. if they lose, those hopes pretty much are 100% gone.

My expectations...

absolutely none.

I have absolutely no faith that MPM (Mashed Potato Mike) can devise a game plan that takes advantage of the offensive strengths of this roster and even less faith that DC can consistently get 10 men on the field with a plan to stop an nfl offense.

I wont mention Zook and his cast of rejects. oops, I guess I just did.

Linsley is no longer a "must sign" either, he is below ordinary, time for another center in the draft.

It is the 70's again.

This could be a huge ray of hope or the end of the season. If our defense can't get off the field on third downs we will be in a shoot-out with a talented offense. I still remember the Bucs handing us a loss when we were so much better. Are they our kryptonite? I hope not - I'm not ready for the season to end.

I haven't watched TB play in a long time. Just looking at stats, I've tried to deduce what they're about.

Rushing: 34.8% of snaps. Few big plays, just 3 runs over 20 yards. Poor 3.5 yd average. I'd suggest we should be able to stop their run w/o having to focus on it, especially if Clark plays. I believe they recently put two starting OL on IR, so this likely is worse for them going forward.

Passing: Two mediocrities at QB, but both are better than BH. Both will throw TDs, but Winston in particular tosses too many INTs. They throw more with Fitzpatrick at QB than with Winston. If Fitz was 23 like Winston instead of 35, he'd be the starter. TB has only allowed 20 sacks (GB has allowed 40 sacks). Pass pro has been very good, but they lost 2 starting OL (OC Marpat and RT Demar Dotson - both OK starters) just last Wednesday to IR.

Receivers: Two fine WRs in Mike Evans and Desean Jackson. Two good looking TEs in Cam Brate and OJ Howard. [Strongly consider starting Brate if you're a fantasy guy - Winston loves him, Fitz hates him. Brate averages 1 Rec for 9 yds with Fitz, and 4 Recs for 52 yds/game and 4 TDs in 8 games with Winston.] Their top 2 RBs (Doug Martin, Jaquizz Rodgers don't catch passes, with 7 recs each. RB Charlie Sims does (26 Rec) but does little with them (6.8 yd average).

Run D: 110 yds allowed per game isn't good. Have to wonder if some of that is due to losing a lot. 4.1 yds per carry allowed is okay though.

Pass D: Below average anyway. They have just 15 sacks. Not good on PDs or INTs.

Very winnable game. I'll probably take GB in my weekly pick 'em.

Play with a lead early and I think they win. Fall behind early and go clean the garage.

I live in Florida so I get to see them every week.. They have a great offense, but know how beat themselves.. Just like our pack does at times, especially with average at best coach calling the plays.. When they played the Vikings early in the year their offense moved the ball effortlessly in the first half.. But Winston threw two back breaking ints in the end zone that were questionable decisions at best.. Iirc one of them was to Evans that was at least double if not triple covered..I wouldn’t want Winston as my qb, he should give us at least 1 int in this game.. O.J Howard is a beast if they actually get him involved, but he disappears in some games.. I think the games he’s dominated they have won, along with Evans.. Many injuries this year to their secondary has really hurt their d, that over the years has gotten weaker.. Their running game is average, so it’s their big strong receivers/ tes we have to worry about.. Jackson has been relatively quite this year, but I think Evans is going to destroy us in this game.. The Bucs aren’t a great team, but seem to be able to play up to better teams at times.. I think the pack should win, but I’d call this a coin flip.. Especially with how inconsistent Hundley is.. The two teams are almost identical, but right now Tampa has a better qb.. I hope we can win this and keep our season afloat.. GO PACK !!

Prediction - disappointment. That's the team motto for the last few years. Either play well enough to stay in the game only to give it away at the end or to get blown out.

I've been saying for the last few years that it is "superbowl or bust" with AR. Some are thinking MAYBE we get to playoffs and then anything can happen. But management has left D drift so much downward without any gain in the O (which is very good with AR but not as good as it could be) that there is little hope for this team.

My biggest fear remains that BH plays good enough to get the pressure off management in GB to make changes.

I expect to see which pass offense and defense show up. I think there is a good chance we get good Hundley, but also a good chance the Pass D gets Pwned big time.

Capers said he was surprised how good the Bucs pass offense was once they started preparing. Welcome to 2017, Dom. You don't have assistants watching the successful pass offenses in the league? It's a copy cat league. Willful ignorance will get you beat.

I expect a return to the"Bay of Pigs" games from the 70s and 80s. The Bucs are only one game behind GB and neither team's QB has been very effective. Packers defense is a sieve once again. So many of the elements of the "Bay of Pigs" days has returned.

I'm expecting to get an answer to my theory about Hundley playing better on the road than at home. I'm hoping that I'm wrong and that he plays well at Lambeau this week.

I'm expecting a ground and pound from the Packers offense. From the defense I expect that anything will happen. They might play great or they may look like a Chinese fire drill.

In the end, as usual I expect victory. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

I wish it wasn't a balmy day.
I miss the Dreamcycle uniforms.
I dislike the battle of the bay references.
I like a long overdue home victory. 6-6.

No expectations here either it changes from week to week offense scores but defense let's the other team score more or offense doesn't score anything and defense holds the team a little bit..but we still lose either way you just never know with this team. I Just Want a high draft pick

The only good thing I can say about last week is Hundley finally went to the left side scrambling and when he rolled out to the right he cut inside like Aaron Rodgers did but he still held on to the ball a little bit too long once again he can't seem to break that habit and he can't seem to get into a rhythm with Jordy Nelson.. because Devonte will be in double coverage this week

The game is in GB. -- Tampa Bay is not an elite team by any definition. --Winston may be rusty coming back and doesn't protect the ball all that well.
Even with Hundley at QB, there's no reason GB should not win this game going away. -- However, I was wrong about the Ravens game also. (picking GB to win would be easier if the "D" had an impact player or two again - a la N. Collins and C. Woodson)
