Packers Question of the day - Expectations Through November?

So far, the Packers are 0-1 in November this year.

However, they'll have a chance to right the ship with three upcoming road games in Tennessee, Washington and Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. After the discouraging loss to the Colts on Sunday, what are your expectations for this team through the three-game road stretch.

Is the season doomed to consistent mediocrity - the only real consistency out of Green Bay at the moment, or did the road stretch come at the perfect time for an angry Packers team?

Personally I think all three QB's we will face next, while not super hero's, have the ability to pass over the middle to wide open receivers. All three teams have adequate running attack as well.

The packers only hope is that Rogers can light it up for four quarters. If these teams play man coverage that negates Rogers a lot.

My EXPECTATION is that we'll see a sense of urgency in this team that we haven't seen recently.

Now...what will we ACTUALLY see?

I thought I knew what to expect going into the Colts game. The previous 2 weeks the offense was finally catching fire. They changed the offense to best use its personnel.
Then the colts game comes and they changed what they had been doing which was working, and it clearly didn't work.

Now I have no idea what to expect.

The only expectation I have had since November 2015 is that hey will lose, and if we lose enough maybe TT and MM will go with some of the other over rated players like Mattews, Rodgers, Starks, and, I am sorry to say it, Nelson

I expect to go 1-2 these road games and even a 2-1 may not be enough to get this team on track...3-0 or another wasted, yes wasted, season.
Many have pinned hopes on Cook, well he better have the half season if his career, if only to get that other Rodgers off the field, or another excuse readily available.

It's easy to have a hail-mary kind of hope that Cook's presence will help to open things up, but there was no real indication that MM had any particular plan to take advantage of his speed and ability to generate mismatches before he got hurt...why would we expect anything different when he comes back?

Well just the fact that Cook would be on the field and Rodgers would be off the field would be a bonus.

The last game before Cook got hurt we started to see McCarthy move Cook around and take advantage of his size/speed. So there is hope that McCarthy was starting to figure things out.

But with McCarthy who knows...

Exactly dobber. Richard Rodgers was starting before Cook was hurt. Maybe one game he was on the field the first series and they threw him a pass, but McCarthy didn't really seem to have a plan. Christ use him as a decoy for others like Cobb to work underneath, but that wasn't the case either. I'd imagine when he does come back Rodgers will have to build trust first and then Cook needs to get used to the timing of the Offense. Sooo, by the time all of that happens Cook may finally be used by week 17.

Which is why I have no positive expectations. I do not see MM adjusting to the degree he needs to, because he does not acknowledge things need to change big time. He will not acknowledge anything more than we need to clean a few things up after LAST week. Granted it is his typical no info press conference but do we really expect the team wide attitude adjustments necessary, that must start with him.

He won't PUBLICLY do that. My guess is the $#it hit the fan this week after they sleepwalked through three quarters on Sunday. Not to take anything away from the Colts: they came out and outplayed the Packers until the 4th quarter. But MM has never been anyone to lay his cards out in public in any way.

Most likely scenario is that we will go 3-0. I really don't think it will be worse than 2-1. Nah, I got nothing to back that up.

I'm the eternal optimist. Even when my fantasy team was down 20 points last night with just a kicker to go, I was still hoping to pull that one out. I'm optimistic that they'll win this week. I feel pretty good about their chances against Tennessee. I would even say I like their chances against Philly given their recent turn. Washington is the one I worry about. I think 2-1 is a real possibility. Get things rolling again and get the defense straightened out and the COULD win all 3.

WHAT happened to the Joique Bell workout? Certainly MM and TT couldn't actually believe Don Jackson is a better option could they? I haven't saw or heard a word so was that BS too?

Bell's workout is today.

Jackson needs an opportunity to know what they have in him. Its hard to get a true feel for how good a player is when they run the ball 4 times in a game.

Starks started practicing last week, too, so I don't know that TT will feel much of a sense of urgency in signing another back, but knowing what Starks looked like pre-injury, having another back on the roster would not be a bad idea.

Sounds like Bell left town. So a good chance they won't sign him. No idea on the other 2 RBs they worked out.

If the coaches left Monty out of gameplan last week due to his illness, then it explains why they reverted to the two TE and offense that hasn't worked for 1.5 years. Without your two slot receivers/best RB (Monty) limited my guess MM thought lets ride the TEs to victory.
Well, next week is different and dare say this year isn't like 2010. That year the team was scratching and clawing to keep their opponents out of the endzone. This years team is either too young/not motivated/too arrogant to care. That part needs to change quickly if they stand a chance to get to the playoffs....

I expect more losses tbh. I mean the Colts suck....plus it was a home game so yeah. I say 1-2 next 3 games. Happy we don't play thanksgiving day because that could ruin a good day.

UGH.

I will continue watching and supporting my team - but it is getting increasingly harder to hope they "figure it out" on a weekly basis.

UGH.

If it hasn't happened by now, with a solution right in thier hands I really doubt it. Best case is they waffle between what worked and McCarthy's weird fixation on Run and Shoot.

For whatever reason, recent Packer teams seem to play better on the road. Thus, I think they finish out November 2-1 (losing to Philly on MNF).

That would put them at 6-5 and probably tied with DET and MN in a bad NFC North division; essentially putting GB on pace to once again sneak into the playoffs, only to be ran out early by a superior opponent (probably on the last play of the game for the n'teenth time)...

I don't know...I figure the Packers need to go at least 10-6 to have a reasonable chance at a playoff bid. That would mean that they would be at least 6-2 over their last 8 which would give me some reason for being too optimistic going into the playoffs.

I'm expecting to see some energy and a sense of urgency from this team. They need to play like a desperate team because that is where they are. Except for 2015, MMs teams have played better during the 2nd half of the season. If that happens again we'll be OK, if not, it's wait 'til next year. I would like to say that we'll go 3-0 but winning 2 road games in a row is extremely difficult in the NFL, 3 is probably close to impossible, so I'm going with 2-1. For now the only game we need to win is the next one against the Titans. One game at a time. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

I'd like to believe that the second half will be like previous years but I have an eerie feeling this year is different. Team has had a bad vibe to it, culminating with a putrid, emotionless home loss. Sure hope I'm wrong.

No, you are not. There is obvious that Packers are not team, and in football only team is winning. So, not so much hope there...

Why expect anything different than what we've gotten? We can hope that pride and sense of urgency will change the attitude of this team, but isn't that more of a momentum thing? I haven't seen a lot of positive momentum for a season and a half. This team could win one and lose two on this road trip. Or win two and lose one. With the easy schedule we have and the best qb ever, we should run the board and finish 12-4.

I hope they suddenly wake up, get healthy, get a TE on the field that is good, get a RB that can pose a legitimate threat to opposing defenses, and the head coach pulls his head out of his arse.

That being said, I am not expecting miracles. This "What team shows up today" drives me crazy.

I'd sure like to see them run the table, right on through the Super Bowl. However, there was a time when I believed in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny too.

Good news and bad news, Donster. Good news is you should get (most of) what you want. Bad news is that it is likely to be the start of the 2017 season before you get it.

This team is so erratic I don't know what to expect anymore. Each week a different Packers team shows up. Just get healthy and get into the playoffs is all I want at this point. McCarthy needs to fix himself and this team fast or we'll be subject to more droning speeches about fundamentals.

On a separate note, Packers fans can help by lifting this team up. We can give them energy. Lambeau is too damn quiet. You should search "best European soccer chants" on YouTube and you'll see how a crowd can electrify you and lift up a team.

I am fine with Starks as the lead back. I think (minority view I concede) that Starks is an NFL average starting RB.

Many thought my report card on RR was too harsh after last season. Bottom line on RR is that he can be a perfectly decent player in the NFL if he learns to be a plus blocker. Right now he is a finesse player who is slow.

I do think the return of Cook will salvage our season, if he comes back in time - that means soon. Yes, I think he can upgrade our TE position, making it dynamic, with okayish blocking. I think he can split out wide and be our #2 WR.

2-1 at least. Better if we get Cook, Starks, Tretter, and CM3 (or some of them) back in time for Washington, all of them for Philly. Hyde is always useful to have, too.

As for the playoffs, though I think less of our team than I did at the beginning of the season, I also think less of the other NFC teams. I think we have at least a 40% or better chance of beating every other NFC team, and quite a few I think we'd be the favorite. Getting Shields or Lacy back would help. Overall, I'd prefer to get Shields back, though Lacy is more likely.
