The Packers' inactive players were David Bakhtiari, Sean Rhyan, Caleb Jones, Samori Toure, and Jonathan Ford.  Only Bahktiari was inactive due to injury.  The Packers elevated just one player from the practice squad, Patrick Taylor, who played on special teams.  Rasheed Walker, Zach Tom, and Jordan Love were active but did not play.

The offensive line was much better this week.  Other than giving up a sack on a speed rush to Robert Quinn early in the game, Yosh Nijman was pretty solid blocking at the point of attack and he was able to get downfield on occasion.  After a rough outing last week, Runyan remembered how to block and was fine.  Josh Myers had some problems snapping the ball.  One snap was low and wide, and he had a false start for moving the ball.  Another snap hit Watson who was running in motion behind the line.  Newman at guard was an upgrade from Hanson.  Jenkins had some rust but was still an upgrade from Newman at right tackle.  Jenkins probably could have been called for a couple of holds, and he had some problems with Trevis Gipson, who had 3 of the Bears' 4 quarterback hits, 2 of their 3 sacks, and 2 of their 8 tackles for loss.  The pass protection was much better.

Aaron Jones powered the team.  He gained 54 yards in the first half on 7 carries, including a touchdown run, and added 78 more yards on 8 carries in the second half to finish with 132 yards on 15 carries, a 8.8-yard average per attempt.  He added 3 receptions for 38 yards with a touchdown, though the touchdown reception looked a lot like a jet motion running play.  A. J. Dillon finished with 61 yards on 18 attempts, a 3.4 yard average.  He added 6 yards on one reception.  That is 37 touches for the two running backs.  The most impressive series was in the fourth quarter after the defense stopped Fields inches short of the goal line (if indeed they did) and the Packers ran Dillon up the middle for 4 yards, then Jones for another 4 yards, and got the first down when Aaron Rodgers ran for another four yards.  

Aaron Rodgers was efficient and accurate, other than one attempt to Dillon, who was open.  It may be that Dillon slipped and Rodgers tried to reload, but threw it into the dirt.  Rodgers was 19 of 25 for 234 yards and two touchdowns.  His passer rating was 131.1.  Sammy Watkins had 93 yards on 3 receptions, and Cobb chipped in 37 yards.  Romeo Doubs caught two passes for 27 yards, including a wide receiver screen that he turned into 20 yards.  That screen helped convert a 2nd and 28 when Rodgers hit Cobb for 9 on 3rd and 8.  

Marcedes Lewis increased his snap percentage from 38% to 46% and on special teams from one snap to 5.  Tyler Davis also increased his snap percentages a little but he played 91% of special teams snaps.  Dillon and Jones played a combined 79 snaps even though the Packers only had 68 plays.  That suggests they were on the field together on 11 plays.  Sometimes the Packers motioned Jones out of the backfield, and I remember Dillon throwing some blocks for Jones as well, including the final block on Jones touchdown scamper off motion.  I do not remember seeing the Packers run a zone stretch running play.  The Bears played 4.69 defensive backs on average per play, and 6.31 players on their front 7, including a couple of nose tackle types in Armon Watts and Mike Pennel on 72% of their plays.

The defense only gave up 10 points.  Despite Justin Fields only attempting 11 passes, Pro Football Focus credited the Packers with 10 pressures.  Fields did have 8 rushing attempts, some of which were designed, like the sneak, with others being scrambles, but that would result in a very high pressure rate.  Preston Smith had 3 of the Packers' 5 quarterback hits, including 2 sacks, while adding 2 tackles for loss.  Smith added 7 tackles (4 solo) and was a force on the field.  Rashan Gary had one quarterback hit (a sack), and Kenny Clark added a quarterback hit.

The Bears are going to be a run-heavy team, and they lived up to that billing.  The Bears gained 180 yards on 27 carries, a 6.7-yard average.  If one excludes the quarterback's scrambles/rushing attempts, it would be 160 yards on 19 carries, an 8.4-yard average.  That seems a little too good, even though the Bears were running despite being behind by two and sometimes three scores.  The Packers did play 2.63 true defensive linemen on average per play, an extremely high number for the Packers.  I thought Dean Lowry (who had 5 tackles, 4 solo), and to a lesser extent, Jarran Reed, were on skates a little too much.  It also seemed to me that the Packers moved Kenny Clark out to defensive end and inserted Tederall Slaton at nose some in the second half.  Reed had 3 tackles (2 solo), while Slaton and Wyatt had no statistics.  Clark had one assisted tackle, so perhaps the Bears avoided him.  

Equanimeous St. Brown got loose for a 30-yard reception but otherwise had just one more reception for another 9 yards.  The Packers throttled Darnell Mooney who played 90% of the snaps but caught just one pass for a negative four yards.  The run support was another issue.  Darnell Savage had 6 solo tackles, while Adrian Amos had 5 (3 solo).  That is not all that many until one realizes that the Bears only ran 41 plays.  The Bears did a good job of getting offensive linemen out on the linebackers.  DeVondre Campbell had just 4 tackles (2 solo) while Quay Walker had 5 tackles and a nice pass breakup.  Walker made some errors but one can see the speed and the talent.  The percentage of snaps for Campbell/Walker is higher than for Campbell/Barnes last year, though that should be no surprise.  

Preston Smith played 90% of possible snaps followed closely by Gary and Clark, each at 88%.  Those are high percentages, but since the Packers' time of possession was 37 minutes to the Bears' TOP of 23 minutes, the number of snaps played by these players were not excessive.  The defense had a very tight rotation in general, with the "big five" in the secondary playing every snap and the backups at other positions seeing few or no snaps.  The Packers took Preston Smith and Gary off of some special teams units, thereby reducing their ST snap counts.
