Packers to play Giants in London

The teams will meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 9th.

From Corey

The full NFL schedule release is set for May 12th.

As has been well covered, the Packers are the lone team yet to play a regular season game in London. They have avoided playing abroad in general under Mark Murphy, though they did play a preseason game in Winnipeg, Manitoba three years ago against the Raiders on a modified 80-yard field due to safety concerns.

Now they're set to take on the Giants at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 9th.

We'll see everyone at the pub that weekend.

The bigger they are, the harder they will fall (in London)...

It's tea time for Packer fans who can afford and are able to make the trip over the pond. I fully expect GB to beat the Giants and believe the Packers are the real calling card for this game.
Who is going to predict GB plays SF, Seattle and the Chefs again this year??? Its time for SF in GB during the regular season this next time around. What AFC & NFC division are next for GB in 2022, anyone remember? I truthfully wonder how the significant new changes to coaching staff will effect their success. 13-3 two times running and 13-4 last year is going to be tough to beat.

I know it can’t be avoided but it doesn’t mean that I can’t hate these overseas games anyway. This and TNF are just unnecessary money grabs for the league which add additional travel to the schedule and added injury risks to our roster. Thanks, Since ‘61

The NFL does a good job of bullshi—- fans that this is some kind of exciting good thing. In reality, it is nothing more than a cold blooded money grab. That’s fine but don’t spit on me and tell me it’s raining. If you looked at the NFL Network this morning you would think everyone was looking forward with anticipation at the International schedule.

What I don’t understand is why the season needs to be so condensed. Go ahead, play Thursday night games, but give the teams the week before and after off. Yes it’s a physically demanding game, that’s why having only one bye week per season is ridiculous. There are plenty of simultaneous games played every Sunday that I’m sure us fans can find some football to watch when our boys are taking breaks.

Longer seasons, more bye weeks, seems like a no brainer to me.

Since '61, I agree with you. I am not, and never have been, a fan of these overseas games. That being said, I get why the NFL does it. Hopefully the NFL greed doesn't allow the same influence as China has on the NBA. That would be a very undesirable outcome IMHO.

I love it - it's a big deal for European Packers fans. Although it may be a long shot to actually get a ticket.

And - even just having beers at the pub with the folks from cheeseheadtv will be worth the trip.

Yeah, well...but then I would have to dispense my knowledge on the nuisances of the NFL real slowww like and keep it to 2 syllable words for the Cheese Head folk... :D

Actually, this year was the most fun I had with the build up to the draft and all the folks out there are wicked good with their research and memory.

Finally Packers in Europe. If they played in Munich I would go 90%, can go there by car.
But London, October, who knows how travelling restrictions will be., tickets will probably be quicky sold. Somehow I would rather go to Lambeau for first PAckers game

My daughter is getting married at the end of the September and we are heading elsewhere at the end of October. Would have been nice to attend a CHTV meetup in London. I was all pumped for this trip but the timing is all wrong. To all who can afford to go - have fun. As for the loss of the home revenue, they are still getting 8 games in Green Bay as in the past. I think that was part of the point of adding the 17th game. So I get it, but such is life. Besides, the best thing for Green Bay is to diversify its economy. Football may not always be king. In fact, it probably won't be in 50 years or less.

Great excuse for a trip to Europe!! Tickets are always available just depends how much you wanna pay. I’m not really excited about the NFL expansion plans but you can’t stop progress I’ve learned that long ago.

I figure they won't have team in Europe until they perfect hypersonic flight, or transporter beams or some-such nonsense...

Hmm...Well I don't like it for similar reason as everyone else, BUT, I also don't care for it because it usually means the Packers will probably get screwed on the Bye Week.

Not only do we lose a Home Game and will have to play 8 home and 9 away for 3 seasons in a row, but I have a sneaky feeling the Bye Week will follow the London Game. If it's an October 9th game that's what. week 6 maybe? To early IMO for a bye but that's just me.

"play 8 home and 9 away for 3 seasons in a row"

This is the odd part for me. Perfecty sensible that small market GB would resist giving up a home game and that big draw GB means nobody wants to give up a game with the visiting Pack so... when they went to 17 games the door opened for an overseas game with no harm done to any US host stadium. But the NFL missed this opportunity.

And now GB has yet to get the benefit of the 9th home game?! Doesn't look like Murphy's negotiated this one very well.

Sending our most coveted and successful sports product overseas is STUPID!! 10 zillion fans are begging to watch the Packers in the USA. Let’s appease our own fans.
