Packers waive CB Derrick Jones after failed physical

-- After acquiring him off of waivers from the New York Jets on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers are waiving cornerback Derrick Jones.

Jones is being waived with a failed physical designation, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Jones, a sixth-round pick of the Jets in 2017, was supposed to add another body to the defensive backfield for the Packers and presumably with the intention fueling competition for the remaining three preseason games.

Jones has played in just four career games in his two seasons in the league, accumulating three total tackles in that span -- all three of which came in 2018.

The Packers still lack Kevin King, who remains sidelined from practicing with a hamstring injury. They just had 2018 second-round pick Josh Jackson practice for the first time this year over the weekend after entering the summer with a foot injury.

It looks like he may have aggravated it playing in preseason one for the Jets. Drop like a stone before we inherit liability.

Wonder who is next up.

Sucks for the man. Tough business. I know how it is working in a field that has way more supply than demand. Employers are looking for a reason not to hire you.
