#PackersDaily: Assistants in demand

Aaron chats with Packers fans worldwide as teams begin to request interviews of Green Bay's assistants for their head coaching openings.

Earlier today, I held my Packers chat over on our YouTube channel talking all things Green and Gold.

The Broncos want to talk to our offensive coordinator about a head coaching position. Hmmmmm.... And these are the same Broncos who traded away Von Miller for extra draft picks.

Doesn't prove anything, but it's pretty clear which way the wind is blowing.

Leatherhead--I had the same thought. They also want to talk to Luke Getsy, QUARTERBACKS coach about the HC position.

My beliefs are that Aaron agreed to one more year with the Packers(Last Dance-All in). Mark Schlereth said last summer a deal was in place with the Broncos. Schlereth is the ultimate Bronco insider. Whatever happened to change the deal, I don't know, but I think that is where things are headed.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a Bronco WR in the deal as Adams is almost certain to sign elsewhere.

Too much to see from asking two Packers coaches to apply for a job?

We'll see.

"I also wouldn't be surprised to see a Bronco WR in the deal as Adams is almost certain to sign elsewhere. "

Adams can be tagged, which I think the Pack would most certainly do, esp if AR leaves. If AR stays, Adams prob signs an extension.

Adams ain't goin nowhere....

Adams would make $20 million on a tag instead of market value of $30 million. They could sign a long term contract, but he or Rodgers would be gone. Last week Adams didn't want to answer a franchise question, and most players do not want that. My guess is Rodgers plays at least one more year and Adams plays elsewhere next year.

Last week Adams didn't want to answer a franchise question. Exactly! Why couldn't he just say if they do, they do. He's a great WR now. But he still needs a QB that will throw him the ball.

Somebody smarter than me would have to put the pencil to it, but if we tagged and traded Adams to the same team that acquired Rodgers in trade.........

Would Denver like to have Rodgers and Adams next year? Of course. Would they give us Jeudy for Adams? Maybe. Depends on what they'd have to give up for Rodgers.

From my perspective, I'd want Denvers #1 and a player who could start for us as a minimum. Then if we could swap Adams for Jeudy, I'd call it a good deal. Jeudy, young and on a rookie contract.

The "tag and trade" for Adams has some timing (2021 versus 2022 fiscal year) problems that TGR outlined in a comment in a previous thread. Might be hard to pull off.

I doubt any team will trade existing players for Rodgers. If they are trading for a 38 year old QB, it is because they believe they have a shot at a Super Bowl. They won't want to give up any of the players that make them think they are SB contenders. I believe GB would have to settle for draft choices only. Denver does have a bunch of draft choices however....... (all their own plus LAR's second and third round choices).

The only problem with trading Rodgers for draft choices is that only a team with a very good lineup and thinking they will win it all will trade for him. That means those draft choices can end up very late first round, really more like early second rounders

Denver already gave up Von Miller to get those picks. They might be persuaded to part with another good starter.

Clearing the money deck to make a run at Rodgers. It's Denver's MO too. They got "Omaha" Manning and won a superbowl. Meanwhile, Packers will have some interesting decisions to make given their salary cap.

Manning was a free agent. They didn't have to give up anything for him other than what they agreed to pay him to sign. No draft picks/players to give up. Totally different situation.

I wasn't clear what I meant by MO. Just that they like the older elite QBs, although Rodgers is playing at a much higher level than Manning. Plus, Rodgers requires a big chunk of the salary cap.

Also, I didn't thumbs down you. I only do that for political posts. I am fine with someone disagreeing with me.

No worries. I agree that Elway wouldn't be afraid to go to that well a 2nd time. We'll see.

Yep—agree.
The Broncos are the team I loathe the most; I won’t bore folks with the details.
If ARod (or our coaches) go anywhere, I hopes it’s not with the Broncos—did I mention I loathe that team…

Over the years the list has grown quite large for me. It's easier for me to list out the teams that i don't hate in the NFC.

Lions: I just feel sorry for the fans at this point.

Now that I think about it, that's the list for NFC.

No need for elaboration for me: Denver has Elway. I don't even remember precisely why I dislike Elway, but there it is.

That’s a good list wildbill—I like it.
I don’t know if I mentioned how much I despise the Broncos?
The Vikings can’t be far off the #1 position on most peoples list.
I have to be somewhat clandestine concerning my dislike for the Vikings; my best friend, a few others, including my brother, are diehard Viking fans—so I have to be diplomatic when around them.

I live in a few hours from Denver. Today on local radio station, a beat writer for the Broncos gave his take on the Broncos search for a head coach. According to him, the Broncos have enlisted the interviews of 10 different coaches. He says it appears to be a scattered process without a a number one candidate. He also said he was previously a writer for the Jags during Hackett’s period as the OC. He called Hackett a genius. He believed the Broncos would do well to hire Hackett but did not believe the hire would be wired to ARod, Adams, etc. . He said that because of the ownership situation, a coach will be hired and only then will additional players and potential trade or other moves be considered.
In any case, I hope Hackett does not go to the Broncos.

Would you rather he end up in Chicago or Minnesota?

That’s a difficult question for me Leatherhead—my dislike for the Donkeys clouds my decision making.
