Love Adams but this is a big NO! Not only can we not afford 25 mil for a WR but if I remember correctly we have won every game he has missed the last two years. Couple that with the number of times AR has ignored wide open people to force the ball to DA and I say as awesome as Adams is let him walk. You could sign MVS and Lazard with money left over.

Hmmm. Pairing arguably the #1 WR in the NFL with Jordan Love at QB? For the next 4 years??? I don't see a problem there, should Aaron Rodgers be playing elsewhere.
wildbill, I am torn on the idea. Part of me wants to trade him away while his value is high. The other half of me wants to keep him on the team throughout the remainder of another contract extension. The 30 year old marker, IMO, isn't going to apply too much with Davante, as I don't see him dropping off in his play, much, if at all. He could actually be better... under the right circumstances here.

It is a remarkable insight into who Jordan Love is, and a stunningly good interview with him by Mark Sanchez. They talk about his film and particular plays, they way Love saw them happen, his decision making, etc. All that nuanced, but super important stuff none of us ever really get to see. Hope you dig this.

I’m with you in I would love to keep him but I read we are around 25-30 million over the cap already next year. The cap may rise 10-15 million but his contract would really make us have some tough decisions on some really good players. Love could use a go to guy but just think the long term negatives outweigh the positives. Now if they work their money magic and spread his contract out with the voidable years so we aren’t taking a big up front hit, then keep him.
But I don’t want to end up like the Saints when all that pushed money comes due at once. Also the offense we run gets even average people open so that makes me think that crazy money is too much for us

I know what you're saying, but, if we don't have AR on the books for whatever reason, or, if Russ Ball can work some cap magic for after AR is off the books, it could work out really well for the Packers and our chances at winning more Lombardi Trophies.
Take Davante Adams off this team, and it becomes a very, very different WR corps.
We've talked trade enough, but hard to say what the future holds for the Packers. Personally, I think Love will surprise the hell out of the rest of the NFL with LaFleur guiding him. WATCH THAT TAPE! You'll know what I've been talking about.
btw, that interview/film review with Love and Sanchez is not all daisies. Mark Sanchez did a great job of showing him areas where Jordan needs to improve, and helped him understand how he can improve. It is a must see for any Packer fan at this time.
Surrounding him with the best weapons we can will be paramount. Love will be the one throwing to him anyway should he extend for another 4 years. Why not give him the best of the best?
Davante is the best in my book.

I enjoyed it because it shows a lot about Love the person. What a quality young man! Packers look like they may have gotten a hell of a steal with Love! Super excited about him and his future.

Furthermore, if Rodgers does get traded include Adam's in a mega deal. We dont need Adam's if Rodgers goes. Plus, he will leave next year anyway if Rodgers leave, so let's get something for him.

How many here have been screaming about the cap space Rodgers eats into and now are willing to let a WR do the same. It shouldn't matter that it's doable if Rodgers is restructured, putting the team in the same position going forward (salary cap) isn't going forward. Many want Rodgers gone because of money and will then be OK with paying Adams money that crosses the line of overpaid by unfathomable lengths.

I don't know about that. Thinking it is more predicated on AR being gone from our cap. If that is the case, that is a nut we should gladly be able to afford to keep the NFL's #1 WR in a Green Bay uniform, especially with Jordan Love throwing to him.
It is without a doubt a unique set of circumstances the Packers have in front of them, and the situation can play out in any number of ways.
Jordan Love will be the QB1 in GB for the foreseeable future. Whether that happens now or a year from now. Surrounding him with the very best talent we possibly can will only help us to reach our goals.
You just reminded me of a pet peeve of mine with Ted Thompson. The goal is not to win the cap. The goal is to win Lombardi Trophies.
Check out the video I posted here in response to wildbill earlier. It is a very cool window into how Jordan Love sees the field, and how he sets up his WRs with looking off Safeties, throwing back shoulder, etc. All that decision making. It is really cool stuff. The magic of the film study happens around the 13:50 mark - after the first 1/3 of the video. Remarkable insights many of us had not seen before, I would imagine. I found this today and thought I'd share it.
The stuff Jordan Love is able to do, especially seeing him wait out some wheel routes for max gains is really something. Very encouraging to see as we move forward into this season. The kid can literally make every throw. Every throw.

For me, the person doing the interview or film breakdown, especially the QB position and if being done by a QB, needs to have at least been an above-average QB. Mark Sanchez does not fit the qualifications and simply having played the position in the NFL doesn't warrant a free pass or make him one to accept as a reputable source of QB grading.
These types of production are created with the sole intent of making the player, any player being exalted, appear the 'golden child' of the team associated. Highlight reels do exactly that, highlight the good or best of the player, what is hardly ever the mindset of such productions is a focus on the bad and how he explained that reel which is much, much more to offer.
The "Tell me what he can do not what he can't do' mindset believes knowing the negative hurts the positive. I disagree, as his opponents will surely try to place him in those situations, and his coach to prevent it needs to know what the negatives are.
Highlight reels and these types of productions raise the optimism, but more often have the optimist questioning what went wrong, why is playing bad. The answer lies in what you refused to see and ignored, but allowed below-average players to tell you how great someone is before they play a game.

Now, you're just nit picking.
Do you somehow think I don't know who Mark Sanchez is? Did you think that maybe I put some trust in my friends here to look past the fact that it is Mark Sanchez, and listen to both he and Love talk about the plays? Listen to Jordan Love talking about what he was seeing and thinking as defensive alignments changed, or what happened within his progressions, with his play fakes, etc?
Really, that's all I wanted to share. Don't know if anyone had seen this before. I hadn't. But, I found it really well done altogether to get a sense of who Jordan Love is, and to get a glimpse of HIS THOUGHTS in some film review. We never get to see that.
Not only that, but it is kind of a good piece to share with the work Andy Herman is doing with his. 2018 and 2019 Jordan Love Deep Dives.
You don't have to like it if you don't want to. I do, and maybe others here will too. Not a whole lot else to do for the next 5 weeks as far as the Packers are concerned.

It isn't nitpicking. You put an obscure interview/breakdown video as a must-see about Love done by a below-average QB who became a laughing-stock of the NFL and fans everywhere. You have a different bar as to who you trust in this type of evaluator, and my disagreement isn't nitpicking, but being more discerning of the trust and value I look for.

No. Not at all. I'm putting nothing towards Sanchez as an evaluator. I merely wanted to hear what Jordan Love was thinking with regards to each of the plays reviewed. What he saw. What he did to adjust. What was successful. What was not.
I was impressed with Sanchez in doing this, and talking through the plays with him. Didn't put any weight behind it. Just thought it was well done. You didn't.
There is no point in getting your undies in a twist over something as simple as this. FFS.

It is a simple discussion of the plays he made, and you won't let it be just that.
If you really want to get into it, what in the fuck is this?:

TarynsEyes, I've watched every game tape, not just highlights, every game tape of his that is available. All the way through. I've seen the good and the bad with Jordan Love. I've seen every throw, every shuffle pass, the "Uncle Irvs," every free play he got with hard counts (yes, there were plenty of them before he even knew Aaron Rodgers), every rush he made to extend drives, every INT, every TD that was available. I don't need those kinds of attacks.
The true ignorance - and bias - I'm seeing here is both stunning and disappointing. I just wanted to share the video of a player who is possibly our starting QB, under trying circumstances where fans don't have a lot of info, explaining plays that he ran.
To get this kind of response from what I thought was a simple PSA share, one that I thought other Packer fans who wanted to know more about Jordan Love might find interesting... during the depths of nothingness... wow.
Let's face it. This guy we drafted last year, and never once saw play for us, just might be our starting QB in 5 weeks or so. I found his descriptions of what he was seeing to be enlightening, and encouraging. I'll leave it at that.

Typical response. You can kneel before every player that played in the NFL and announce them to be as knowledgeable as you desire. Just because they reached it doesn't mean they knew all, but there were many who knew more but didn't have the talent. The game was created by the mind, the talent to perform came after and from that.

Do not need Adam's and his cap hit, particularly since with Love the Packers wont be utilizing Adam's as they did with Rodger's. I would surmise Adam's would at best see 50% of the number of attempts.
Remember Favre did not grow at QB until Sharpe was gone. Then he was forced to spread it around. Why pay such money to a soon to be 30 year old WR?

Look at how old Adams will be in the second, third, or fourth of any new deal and then spend a few minutes looking at what WRs that age are doing.
The most productive WRs in the league are under 30. Few exceptions.

Davante Adams is only 28 right now. Might be worth it if he has 1 or 2 or 3 Super Bowl rings before his 32nd Birthday...
I mean, I get the trade value stuff. Not sure that I like the idea of moving him in trade though. I'd rather part with other WRs if DEN wants AR to have familiar faces. If there is a trade at all. And, if DEN and the Packers do make a trade, and they do include Adams, I'm going to want the Packers to get a BOATLOAD of picks/players for sending that combo West.
