Parsons Injures Knee in 34-26 Loss to Denver
Watson to hospital with chest injury; Tom, Williams, and Hobbs also injured as season teeters.

The Green Bay Packers held a 23-14 lead early in the second half against the Denver Broncos. The Packers, playing on the road against the team with the best record in the NFL, looked every bit like the true Super Bowl contender General Manager Brian Gutekunst envisioned.
Jordan Love was dicing up one of the league’s best defenses with 215 first-half passing yards. Micah Parsons forced a fumble on the game’s first possession, and constantly harassed quarterback Bo Nix, as he had done to all passers this season. Josh Jacobs just ripped a 40-yard touchdown run behind dominant run blocking. The defense, fast and aggressive as ever, forced a three-and-out after the Jacobs run.
Then, in the matter of 12 game minutes and seemingly 12 hours in real time, the trajectory for the game, and the season, turned drastically for the worse.
Love, seeking an early knockout, launched a one-on-one deep shot to the team’s most important receiver, Christian Watson. Love challenged reigning Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II on the play, and the cornerback proved his merit with an impressive diving interception. In doing so, Surtain II landed on Watson which knocked him out of the game with a chest injury, and reportedly sent him to the hospital.
Mercilessly, the X/Twitter medical reports were only just beginning.
With less than a minute to go in the quarter, Parsons generated an instant pressure on Nix to flush him from the pocket. The premier pass rusher then planted his left foot out in front as he tried to change direction. He hobbled, grabbed his left knee, and crumpled to the ground. Non-contact. Immediate wave for help to the Green Bay sideline. Players from both teams gave him a head tap before he limped into the locker room. The reported “fear” of an ACL tear felt all but confirmed after the game.
The injuries nearly bookended a third quarter from Hell, which saw the Broncos erase the nine-point deficit en route to a 34-26 win.
“Yea it doesn’t look good,” coach Matt LaFleur said via packers.com when asked about an ACL tear. “That’s obviously a really tough night in a lot of ways in regards to losing the football game . . . it was also a double-whammy for us losing pieces that are critical for our success.”
Zach Tom and Evan Williams filled out the injury reports with knee injuries of their own, though LaFleur said he didn’t think they would be long-term. Nate Hobbs also left the game late, but official word was not provided regarding his injury.
The game matched its inter-conference, powerhouse build-up in the first half as the teams traded scores in a surprisingly offensive affair. The Packers scored on all four of their first-half drives, but settled for field goals on two of them. The Broncos scored twice, both touchdowns, for a 16-14 halftime score. Green Bay scored on its first second-half drive – five straight scoring drives to start the game – to jump out to the 23-14 lead.
The injuries understandably impacted Packers’ play – the Broncos outscored them 20-3 after Watson went down. Nix found continued success attacking Packer cornerbacks Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine to retake a lead. With a new gamescript and banged up offense, the vaunted Denver pass rush cranked up the heat on Love and sacked him three times in the second half.
“We knew this was one of the best pass rushes in the league, and you could feel that at the end of the game,” LaFleur said. “Whether it was their ability to get Jordan off the spot or get to him, we had plenty of opportunities and didn’t get it done.”
Green Bay’s offense had three chances to tie the game in the fourth quarter, trailing by eight. First, Love left a pass to an open Dontayvion Wicks high and slightly behind. Wicks got his hands on the ball, but couldn’t catch it reaching back. He tipped the ball up for a second Broncos interception. A fourth-down sack ended the Packers’ next attempt, and their last series consisted of four incompletions and a false start penalty. Green Bay committed 10 penalties for 72 yards.
Nix finished 23-of-34 passing for 302 yards, and four touchdowns to four different receivers. Courtland Sutton racked up 113 yards receiving and a touchdown on seven catches; Troy Franklin tallied six catches for 85 yards and a score.
Jacobs was the brightest spot for the Packers Sunday. Despite his own knee injury keeping him out for much of practice this week, he gained 73 yards on 12 carries and the score. Jacobs also added a terrific touchdown catch over Dre’ Greenlaw in the first half.
Love completed 17-of-22 passing for 215 yards and a touchdown in the first half, but finished a mere 24-of-40 for 276 with two interceptions and just the one touchdown.
Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Luke Musgrave, tallied 55, 55, and 52 yards receiving, respectively.
The loss moves Green Bay back to second place in the division behind Chicago. The Packers will face the Bears for the second time in as many weeks Saturday night at Soldier Field.

Guess we'll find out how good Hafley is. If the defense falls apart without Parson then we'll have the answer.I thought Bo wasn't supposed to be a good QB sure looked like it against our D.

Our secondary has been suspect all year long but no team game planned to attack them like Sean Payton did and it paid off.
Second half was embarrassing as the defense collectively shit the bed and once again Jordan Love was exposed as not an elite quarterback when under pressure.

Oh please. You lose your top O lineman. Then you lose the guy you make your game plan around and the other team has to game plan around then you lose the guy you build your season's defense around. Get a grip. That is not shitting the bed.

Love did miss badly on 4-5 open receivers in the second half. He wasn't good in the 2nd half, but there's plenty of blame, including the injuries.

The defense played bad even when Parsons was on the field.

Love is average, far from elite status…he’s no leader like Allen, Stafford, players who seem to thrive when shit hits fan…

Who gave you a thumbs up? Dude you can watch the sport, even people like you deserve some football. But stop posting on forum. "Love was exposed......" is that a joke? Do you even watch the games? Love is one of the best passers under pressure I have seen in years.
You can point out lots of stuff from that game but to say any blame goes to Love because he cant handle pressure is a joke.

These people have been terminally brain poisoned by Madden. There's literally no quarterback in the league who has been better under pressure this year than Jordan Love.

Sean Payton also knows how to attack the zone. Maybe Hafley doesn’t think the current defensive personnel can’t play man. Until it does, great offensive play callers will thrive against the zone.

Nix is similar to Caleb Williams imo. He shud have had three INTs this afternoon.

Our CBs made Nix look like the next coming of Matthew Stafford all game. Worst game I've ever seen Valentine play and Nixon was a pylon as well. McKinney couldn't cover everyone. Hobbs "supposedly" played but, true to form, he's injured again. Nix throws short to medium passes and we still played soft zone? This defensive failure is totally on Hafley for a change...

If Watson is out for the rest of this season then I'm glad they only signed him to one year cause it's getting to the point of I've seen this movie too many times

Yea, he seems like he's an injury just waiting to happen.
It's really too bad, he turned himself into a good receiver....when healthy.

A Tale of Two Halves:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
How did the Packers go from a two score lead to an 8 point defeat? Altitude, attitude, coaching?
Stupid plays, ineffective red zone play, and penalties limited the first half lead; Wilson's brain went dead on the KO that should have been a touchback, and inopportune penalties helped the Donkeys, Keisan Nixon brings back memories of Elvis Patterson, call him Toast 2.0.
The worst thing is losing Micah......2025 Season R.I.P.
Our spring of hope is now the winter of despair.

The root of the Packers' problems is Gutekunst and the day he became GM in January 2018.
I like Jordan Love as a person and root for him each week.
But Let's Face it, Jordan Love is just what he was in college:
1) does not see the field, consequently missing open receiver opportunities and causing Jordan to make bad decisions
2) is slow to release the ball, consequently missing open receiver opportunities and causing Jordan to make bad decisions. Even when Jordan does complete the pass, it is after the defender has closed any gap between defender and receiver reducing the big play possibility. This is a BIG reason why the Packers have had only 1 offensive touchdown from beyond the red zone/opponent 20 yard line.
3) Jordan is inaccurate with the ball. The ball - which is already being released late and after the defender has closed their gap with the Packers receiver - is often thrown behind the receiver, too high for the receiver (a hospital ball), too low for the receiver, too far out in front of the receiver, or underthrown. Jordan's inablity to hit the Packers receive IN STRIDE and in the hands is another BIG REASON why the Packers have had only 1 offensive touchdown that's distance from line of scrimmage was beyond the red zone/opponent 20 yard line
4) is lumbering and clumsy and unaware of where he is in the pocket relative to both pass rushers and his own lineman
5) lacks the agility that enables a quarterback to be elusive and move laterally in the pocket
6) lacks the agility and balance to be a consistently reliable weapon as a running quarterback or in a more limited scenario of called read option running plays
7) fundamental footwork is terrible as is throwing mechanics
8) Jordan does not seem to know:
a) the score
b) the down
c) the quarter
d) time left on the clock
and how each of a, b, c, and d should influence his decision making and risk taking
9) when Jordan loses confidence Jordan can go through a long string of PANIC AND POOR DECISION MAKING - fumbles and interceptions and just poor choices of what to do on any particular play
That's why Jordan has had the melt downs we have seen in the biggest more important games as well as at other times.
Jordan was at best worthy of a 5th round draft pick and should be at best a backup quarterback.
Packer Fans should be calling for Gutekunst FIRING IMMEDIATELY and replacement with an Elliot Wolf (if he can be pried from the Patriots) who as a young teenager was at his father's side building the Super Bowl Packers and whose father always showed respect for the players - or a former NFL player that has been in the arena and can therefore respect the player - a John Lynch type
Lafleur is not the problem, nor is it the offensive line, nor is it the defense, nor it is Jacobs, nor it is the kicker, not is it the wide receivers.
Lafleur with Rodgers
2019-20 13 wins 3 losses
2020-21 13 wins 3 losses
2021-22 13 wins 3 losses (1 loss with Jordan Love as starter vs. KC)
Jordan Love is not the Packers franchise QB.
But Jordan is not the root problem, Gutekunst is the root problem

I'll stick up for Love a bit, for something no one is talking about.
It's hard to be effective when you get hit....15 times
Yep, that's right, 15 times.
I doubt that's an NFL record, but damn....that's getting your ass kicked back there.

According to Pro football reference "Advanced Passing" numbers Jordan Love is pressured less than most quarterbacks.
Jordan's problem is not the Packers offensive line, Jordan's problem is his lateral movement sucks, his pocket presence sucks, he holds the ball too long.
These are the Pressure percentages per pass attempt for a few quarterbacks on the season (just google Football reference advanced passing 2025)
The League average is 21.4%
Baker Mayfield 14.6%
Aaron Rodgers 17.2%
Josh Allen 18.0%
Matthew Stafford 18.4%
Jordan Love 19.1% (12th out of 32 quarterbacks - i.e. 12th least pressured)
Daniel Jones 20.3%
Jalen Hurts 21.0%
Dak Prescott 21.6%
Drake Maye 21.9%
C. J. Stroud 21.9%
Lamar Jackson 22.6%
Patrick Mahomes 23.5%
Justin Herbert 28.3%
JJ McCarthy 29.4% (34th of 34 quarterbacks listed)

Think about this: the Packers were up and coming and beat the Cowboys in a wildcard game when the Broncos hired Sean Payton.
The right coach means everything in the NFL. The Packers better hope Ben Johnson is more like Matt La Fleur than Sean Payton.

I didn't even know Hobbs was in the game? However, seeing how bad the pass D was, now I see some of the reason. But no worries, the $12M man is injured again so all is normal.

This is why you do not trade two first round picks and a good player for one guy and put your team in salary cap death.

You are not wrong Cheeze, but it's a move Gute had to make. Can you imagine what this teams record would be without Parsons. They'd be challenging the Vikings for bottom of the division. We get the next three games to see how this defense plays without it's best player.
