Report: Packers Deny Washington's Request to Interview Alonzo Highsmith

There's been no shortage of candidates from within the Green Bay Packers organization up for positions with other NFL teams this offseason, but the Packers are taking a hands-off approach.

The latest is senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith, who was under consideration by Washington, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports:

Such a denial of access should come as no surprise in light of other reports claiming the Packers did the same for quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, who was prevented from interviewing with the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars for their open offensive coordinator positions.

Like Van Pelt, presumbly Highsmith remains under contract with the Packers, which would appear to be in contrast to assistant Steve Marshall, who is reportedly joining the staff of the New York Jets.

The Eagles also requested to interview director of player personnnel Eliot Wolf earlier this month.
