Shockingly, Thompson Stands Pat

The NFL trading deadline has come and gone. Several teams pulled off trades, including one trade for running back Michael Bennett, a position of seeming dire need for the Packers. Yet Ted Thompson, as we knew he would, stuck to his steadfast belief of building through the draft.

As Thompson has stated, if this team were one single player away from contending, he might swing a trade. But when you're 5-1, and you've already sent a 6th round pick to the Giants for a running back, there's zero reason to trade for someone like Bennett. Does anyone out there really think Michael Bennett would miraculously resurrect the Packers moribund rushing attack? The backs, while not All-Pros, are not the problem. The offensive line is the problem.

Now, if only Thompson could have traded for a guard...
