Knowing how anal AR is about WRs running crisp, accurate routes, and knowing that ABJ does NOT run crisp, accurate routes, I would think this would not work at all.

I’m with you Rebecca. If he signs for vet min (seeing that he’s already got a settlement from Cleveland) then absolutely.

Re cancer concerns - there’s no way that his ego or ability outshines Rodgers (ego) and Adams’ ability. This is purely a play about getting a ring…… this year.

All that said, he’s not a known willing blocker, so I don’t know how the team dynamic works out.

What about as a return man?

it's more than that. it's also about showing the NFL that he still has it, and is not a cancer. i hope he comes, and helps us win, while helping himself sign a fat contract next year (not with us, we cant afford him...)

On second thought maybe his Dad will increase OBJ's weekly salary making him affordable after all ! I am not worried about the diva stuff. One of the problems over the years with the Packers is worrying so much about the team's character ect. Ron Wolf changed that to some extent and we have had renewed success ever since (like the Patriots ever cared about that shite!) . Rodgers would have another asset and it could help keep AR around for the foreseeable future . Rodgers generally has less patience with rookies which is why recruiting a number 1 Wr pick in lieu of Love IMO would have made no difference at this point. Even Adams took several years to succeed . He has done ok with some of the vets brought in over the years . Beckham would help more than hurt in the short run
The Packers do have perhaps higher needs though than receiver e.g. cs and dl for example and Beckham wouldn't come without a fairly high price tag .

Bad Moon Risen ,I remember his girlfriend burnt down his house. I don't like the idiot , but what the hell for the veteran minimum it's worth the shot. If Brady can find value in that other idiot savant, Brown, so can we. However, it would hurt the development of Lazard and MVS.

Absolutely! Regardless of who we have at wr OBJ automatically makes double teaming Adams every play really hard to do considering. I believe the Browns still owe him 7.5 mil so he may be willing to take a small deal for a chance to win a super bowl. Having OBJ will open up the field for everyone and if Antonio Brown can be tamed so can OBJ.

Balance of this season yes. More than welcome to use GB as a springboard for his next contract. Like 'Tae, he is also a Monkey sign and enemy year (of the Tiger) begins Feb 1st, so pass on the re-up. Success unfortunately makes the sum of the parts greater than the whole and a lot Grade A talent on this roster will be asking for top dollar.

I was there too early on this year & last. But, now? What really is the downside? Drama? LOL

Totally get where you’re coming from, Alberta, but if it is for what GB can afford, and it might be a drop in the bucket at this stage, I’m struggling to see the downside. OBJ + Adams would be lights out.

The $$ could be minimal.

GG….two thumbs up! It makes no sense for him to create drama….want a ring, YES. Want another contract in the NFL, YES. Well if you help the team win without drama there’s a good chance you get that. If not, your probably done in the NFL. I don’t understand the folks who think he will be a head case. He will also come at probably a Vet Minimum for the remainder of the year.

It is one thing whether he falls to the Packers. Second thing whether he is willing to sign with the Packers. Third, can Packers free enough cap? Possibly even most importantly and difficult would Rodgers actually throw to him consistently?

Rodgers does not throw to the guy who is open, but follows his reads. If OBJ is angry that he does not get the ball enough, he will be angry in GB.

Yes. High reward, low risk, low cost signing. He’s an upgrade over WR4/5 and returns punts. Antonio Brown settled down in the Bay. Maybe taking passes from a future HOF QB will have the same effect. If he’s a disruption you hand him his walking papers. WWBD (What would Belichek Do). Something just like this

Packers currently have 7 receivers, and the bottom two (St. Brown and Taylor) are playing special teams. Who gets cut and will OBJ play ST? I say sign OBJ, cut St. Brown, and make Cobb return punts and Amari Rodgers be a gunner.

What could possibly go wrong?

Seems a lot like the Rison signing by Wolf. Adding that level of talent at this stage of the game could be the difference maker. Without him, that huge game breaker add at WR we’ve needed, and I question whether we can close the deal. With OBJ in a Packers uniform opposite Devante? Wow.

To finish out this season? Yes. Why not?

Nonetheless, I’d be shocked if they pulled that off, week 10.

GG,
My initial reaction to signing OBJ was yes, (with my aforementioned joking aside).

For years the majority of Packer fans along with ARod has complained about not drafting, or going after a top WR in FA. I say if available and if the Pack can work out the the contract dollars let's go for it. Like you and a few others have stated what is the downside?

The following is the speculation part:

We all know Rodgers holds grudges like no one else right? He has to be so extraordinarly pissed right now at the world with all his detractors. He is smart enough to know that the one way he can change the narrative about him is by winning a SB. I would bet certain body parts Rodgers is making a push behind the scenes for OBJ. Rodgers like never before wants to win a SB. If he can bring a Lombardi Trophy home he not only can be Brady like, but it will be his way of holding his middle finger up to his detractors. In fact, with Rodgers wanting more than ever to win the SB might he actually modify his contract just to help bring OBJ aboard? LOL!

I say do it! Go all in and win the damn SB!!!

Next year, will likely be a semi train wreck with the cap casualties but so be it.

Not getting my hopes up but if he wants a ring there's probably no better place to chase one than here.

He may not be up to speed with the playbook for a couple weeks but if hes willing to return punts and work his way into the offense than why the heck not.

Is it possible GB can get a 3rd veteran guy to accept the league minimum while being paid by his former team. That alone makes me want to see them sign him.

1.) He's a cancer (mostly Giants not as bad with Cleveland though)
2.) He can't play in the cold (watch the Packers vs Giants last playoff game again you'll see).
3.) Not known as the greatest route runner
4.) Back end of his career (not completely washed but this isn't prime OBJ anymore.

Could he help? Sure but I think there's 2 WR's better than him another with an insane connection with Rodgers in Cobb and another that's much more of a deep threat than him. Overall would he be happy getting 2-3 targets a game or would he get upset and start crying and make a scene? IDK it could be Randy Moss 2.0 when he went to the Patriots or it could be Chad OChostinko when he went to the Pasties.

He witnessed their collective collapse. It will be Rodgers or Brady for the incentive to win the Big Game. Stafford is falling apart. Seattle living on fumes. jameis Winston? Murray may be out longer than expected and he's seen his clone with Mayfield. Vegas odds. I would make the deal and let this offense take off a' la Air Coryell.

Other than Davante, Packers wide receivers haven't been getting many opportunities to catch the ball.
Is OBJ good with that? Am I wrong in thinking of him as a diva who has been a terrible headache for his past two teams?
I like the wide receivers that the Packers already have, and hope that the likes of Lazard and MVS get more targets.

Been going over this since yesterday. The Packers signed Reggie and won a SB. They signed Charles and won another SB. They were team leaders and respected. Odel is different, but he can still be a great WR. Signing him would definitely say were all in now and put this offense over the top. I say do it, get it done gute.

Well if Gute truly has an offer on the table for OBJ then the ball is now in assistant GM Aaron Rodger's hands. If he wants him on the team it's time to start recruiting the guy and get him to sign the dang contract.

A call or tweet from some other notable Packers might help as well. Mercilus or Rasul Douglas could offer some insight to OBJ about what's it's like here in GB, being recent additions themselves.
