The Letter Is In

We knew it was coming, but it is now official. Favre's request for reinstatement was faxed to the league today.
Your move Ted.

A player threatening a team with reporting to camp. Wow.

McCarthy's comments were interesting. Could it be that the Packers FO just took a hardline stance to save face with Rodgers?

Imagine if Favre ended up the starting QB after all this?

I think it's interesting that McCarthy used the word "asset" to refer to Favre. An asset is something of value that can be exchanged for other "assets," like a 6th round draft pick. :-(

Ugh. Has it really come to this?

Ooohhh, Keith, that's a good one. Me likey.

I hope AR's okay if this all plays Brett's way. I like him too, honest.

Don't look now, but there's a flight en route from Green Bay to Hattiesburg, MS right now.

It could be nothing, but things could be set to get REALLY interesting!

Or the Packers have sent a hitman. :-)

Think about this for a minute. What were MM and TT supposed to say about this mess? They couldn't just say, "What? Brett wants to come back!?!?!? YEEEEESSSSS!!! BREAK OUT THE PBR!!!" We've been made privy to information that revealed Brett "changed his mind" in March, only to reverse course yet again. How dumb would they look, and how pissed would Rodgers be, if MM and TT had come out supporting and encouraging Brett to come back after they spent an entire off season telling Rodgers they had 100% faith in him as their starting QB.

However, this is a different story. If Brett files for reinstatement (which he has), and if he shows up to camp (which seems likely), then the Packers "have no choice" but to give him reps. Next thing you know there is a QB competition, Brett Favre is slinging rockets all over the field, and he wins the starting QB position.

All of this talk about trades, releases, and backup roles could just be a bunch of BS because the Packers didn't really believe Favre would un-retire. Now that he has and is (seemingly) headed to camp, I think they could spin their past comments.
