Three Packers named first team All-Pro
De'Vondre Campbell becomes the first Packers inside linebacker to make first-team All-Pro since Ray Nitschke in 1966.

Three Green Bay Packers were named to the annual All Pro team by the Associated Press.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver Davante Adams and linebacker De'Vondre Campbell all received enough votes to be named starters on the 2021 All-Pro team.
Campbell becomes the first Packers inside linebacker to make AP first-team All-Pro since Ray Nitschke in 1966.

I think Kenny Clark gets too little credit. Douglas too deserved a vote, as did Amos.
I think Jefferson was under voted and Andrews should have got all 50.

Well, the media member would have had to think Douglas was one of the two top CBs in the NFL. He wasn't, and thus did not deserve any votes. Ditto for Clark. Adams was probably the best WR in the NFL and I think it is hard to vote for anyone other than Kupp and his 1947 receiving yards. I am a little surprised Adams and Kupp weren't both unanimous. I agree that Anderson should have gotten 50 votes. A few homers.

Yes. It was a dead lock. Myers was the better FIT for GB. (Pass protection! ) So it was logical. The True surprise was Myers started. I still believed that Patrick could do the job. Which he has done.

I was trembling with aaaanticipa-tion when Creed Humphrey was still on the board for Green Bay. It never occurred to me that they might select a different center until they did. Humphrey was the #4 interior offensive lineman in CHTV's draft guide. #2 Vera-Tucker is a guard or tackle. Wyatt Davis of Ohio State was #3, but he was a guard only unless one envisioned him as a project to center. Humprhey was #4. Vera-Tucker and Davis were off the board when GB drafted. Landon Dickerson (CHTV's #1 prospect) might have been the best one but had an extensive history of injuries. Josh Myers (also of Ohio State) was CHTV's #9 interior offensive lineman prospect. Quinn Meinerz (pick 99) was CHTV's #5 interior rated prospect.
GB needed a draft and start center. Dickerson, Humphrey, Meinerz and Myers were considered plug and play centers. I would have run to the podium to select Humphrey because I did not think the choice was close. Dickerson played pretty well at guard (13 starts, 67 PFF grade). Humphrey was PFF's all rookie center with an elite 91.4 grade.
IDK: so far it looks like a missed opportunity, but Gute and Milt Hendrickson have been pretty savvy with their OL picks for the most part. Meinerz played well and was higher rated by PFF. Myers has been meh so far, but he looked pretty good in the first two games before sustaining a finger injury in week 2. A knee injury in week 6 against the bears landed him on IR. The draft guide suggests that Myers' run blocking was his strong suit.

I had Humphrey ahead of Myers. But Figured Gutey would take Myers. (per big Ten) Like I said earlier. I wish he'd follow Cheezeheads draft guide. Some players really jumped. Stokes was rated higher by Draft Ace. Ahead of Newsome.

Top 3 at LB are considered first team as it's based off a 4-3 defensive alignment.

While it's great to have three All-Pros, question: how did the Packers have the best record in football with only three All-Pros? How did Aaron Rodgers align for another MVP award with no offensive linemen named?
Kenny Clark gets dissed again.
Part of the problem is the voters routinely see the coastal teams and the larger markets.
Perhaps the all-knowing sports media types can explain how a team can get the number one seed and only have three All-Pros.

Isn't Tennessee the number one seed in the AFC? They have four names on the list, and only one starter.
In contrast, TB has six players on the list, with one starter.

I think a lot had to do with injuries, Harry, especially on the O-line. To me, that points to a great job of coaching. The team that had the best record in football was a team, not a collection of all-stars. I'm with you on Kenny Clark, but who else would you include?
As far as the media, well, they would have had to work extra hard this season to avoid seeing the Packers play. Green Bay will always be the smallest market, but the Packers enjoyed prime time national TV time slots for 12 of 18 games.

Justice was served by Campbell being selected All-Pro after he was snubbed by the consensus for the Pro Bowl.
We would have still made the playoffs without him, but I don't know about the #1 seed given how close some of our victories were.
Big thumbs up to Gute for signing this player and Barry & Company for coaching him.
Gone should be the days where this position is not considered a high priority....

Campbell had a good year, but was it really one of the top 200 seasons in linebacker history? Shows how weak the competition was this year.

Rodgers and Adams were pretty much locks. Great for Campbell. Says a lot about him and the quality of our ILBs since Nitschke. the last time Nitschke was named a first team All-Pro was 1966 (55 seasons ago). The last time he was named a 2nd team All-Pro was 1969 (52 seasons ago).
All told Nitschke was named All-Pro 7 times, 2x 1st team and 5x 2nd team.
He was named to the NFLs 1960s All- Decade Team, the NFLs 50th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time. He is the only NFL linebacker to be named to both the 50th and 75th Anniversary teams.
He was enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame in 1978. His #66 is retired and he is among the Packers Ring of Honor at Lambeau Field.
He was a feared hitter and a ferocious linebacker and his 25 career interceptions (2 pick sixes) prove that he excelled in pass coverage. They did not record sacks as a statistic during Nitschke's era so we'll never know how many sacks he had during his career but it would be high number for an ILB. Dave Robinson said that he made it to the NFL HOF because of Nitschke and all of the ball carries who ran his way trying to avoid being hit by Nitschke.
Hornung and Nitschke became my co-favorite Packers during the earlier Lombardi years and then Nitschke and Starr were my co-favorite Packers from 1966 until 1971. IMO, Nitschke was the leader of the finest defensive unit of all time and he was the bedrock upon which the Lombardi dynasty stood for all those championship seasons. My avatar says it all; "Didn't have a nickname, didn't need one."

Really nice tribute, '61. I had the opportunity to hear Ray's wife, Jackie, speak in the early 1990s at a banquet/fundraiser for an AODA treatment facility. She spoke openly of her challenges with addiction, and his support of her and others. Tough guy with a huge heart.
And, yes, I can still see him "running" one of those interceptions back for a touchdown swinging one pretty damn dead leg along with him.

I appreciate the feedback Leotis. They were both great people. I met them at a Packers game in Florida when the Packers were visiting the Bucs in the "Big Sombrero' Stadium. Starr was the HC and of course the Nitschke's were there to support Bart.
It was a brief meeting but they were very courteous and it was a rare opportunity for me to meet one of my all time favorite players and thank him for all the great plays over the years. I also had the opportunity to meet Starr before that game as well.
The Packers won the game 13-0. I'm sure Nitschke loved the shutout.
And yes, I also remember Nitschke returning that pick 6 on a dead leg against the Lions. Stay safe.

I never personally met him, but I heard stories about fans walking by his (I'm sure very modest) house while he was out cutting his grass and he would stop and talk with them. The times sure have changed, with players living in their gated mansions.
He was a terror on the field, but by all accounts a very friendly and humble man off it.

13Times, today's players are in a totally different stratosphere than the players from the 50s/60s. The Players from Nitschke's era went on to average jobs after the season just to make it through year financially.
Today the vet minimum salary is higher than any player was paid back in the day.
With all the money comes different lifestyles, more to protect if they have a family and more to lose. Then there are the players who squander it all away with poor life choices.
Player were more approachable in the past and in reality much less vulnerable. Now, the media is all over them all of the time both during the season and the off-season. Times have certainly changed, Not necessarily for better or worse, just different. Stay safe. Thanks, Since '61

Let it sink in….. the Packers have an All Pro at ILB! With Amos, Clark, both Smiths, and Gary - that is 6 All Pro (or at least All Pro Adjacent) players the Packers will have on the field next weekend. (Savage and Douglas and Barnes are above average too!)
