Why do those who write, commentate about, blog, discuss, etc. the Packers insist on conjuring up scenarios in which Green Bay trades premium draft picks (or players) for a bona fide player on another NFL roster?

Quick, Andy and Justis tell us about how many round 1 picks Gutey has traded away for a player in his 8 years as GM. Now do round 2. And round 3. How about round 4? Is there a round 5 pick for a player trade worth discussing?

Now, go back over Ted Thompson's final 7 years (with Gutey at his knee every one of those years) and enlighten us about all the round 1-5 picks TT traded away for a player.

When folks acknowledge that GB never makes such trades perhaps that will stop the fantasy GM pieces in which the Packers are allegedly in the running to trade pick or picks for a player and everyone will finally accept the INDISPUTABLE FACT that in Green Bay round 1-5 draft picks are considered far too valuable to trade away for NFL players.

Besides, while Philly, KC, and the LA Rams have all traded away 1st round and other high draft picks (multiple times) for players in recent years, what exactly has it gotten them in return?

I mean if you listen to the conversation we pretty much agree with you lol. But rage on man.

Also, as to why folks comment on it, it's because these types of scenarios drive online conversation to the point where its all we get asked about. Hence getting ahead of the questions with content that helps pay our rent.

You have a great site PackerAaron and there is plenty of useful information to be gleaned, but "seriously" asking whether the Packers might TRADE a premium draft pick or picks FOR an NFL player, whether Trey Hendrickson or anyone else, is right up there with a debate on bringing in scantily clad cheerleaders (male or female) to Lambeau when it comes to click bait.

It just ain't ever gonna happen.

I would note that the rams traded their quarterback and two first rounders and were rewarded with a Super Bowl Championship in their brand-new stadium.

Nonetheless, it's not the packer way.

Packers are only required to get a trophy once per QB career. All the stars need to align...Oh by the way both SB QB's were same age as JL is now when they won their SB. So it's this season or never..if we're going by the last 30 years. I'm all for Hendrickson with game availability language, etc. and I'm good with Parson trade also for the long haul.

I could note that Philly traded a 1st round pick for WR AJ Brown and the Chiefs traded one 1st round pick for a starting Edge and another 1st round pick for a starting LT on their recent SB winning squads.

KC, LA, Philly and plenty of other teams have traded premium draft picks FOR players over the past 14 years and not only made Super Bowls but won them.

But again, that is something the Packers just do not do over the past 2 decades.

Remember, he played for the Saints first. He's too old for the Packers to trade that much for, as good as he still was last year. Cross him off your dream-list. Dream of something else, like maybe Marshawn Lloyd staying healthy? What kind of dream is that?
Sadly, it is a P __ __ __ DREAM. Solve the puzzle

Dream killers—“we can’t”; “won’t work”; “rent’s to high”; “we could never”; “sky’s falling”; “we’re all doomed”. I need therapy listening to the gloom and doom crowd.
We all know it’s not likely—but so what! I would bet dollars to donuts that even the cap worriers and gloomers would be privately celebrating if we pulled out a trade for Hendrickson…or Parsons. It would immediately create additional optimism about the defense and the SB potential.
Some of y’all should leave the darkness retreat for few moments. Buy/use some new deodorant — change your “depends”. Relax and cash the your first paycheck…tsk tsk.
Welcome to the Packers Mr. Hendrickson.
Go Packers!!!

Here is a chance for Gutey to put his money where his mouth is on the sense of urgency he's been talking about recently about winning a SB. When thinking about Gutey doing unGutey like things, look no further than him investing a 1st round pick on a WR for the first time in 20 plus years. It's possible this could be his Reggie White or Brett Favre moment by channeling some of his inner Ron Wolf who wasn't afraid to trade away draft capital for quality players.

Yes I realize Reggie was a free agent and didn't require a premium draft pick but he was 29 or 30 when they signed him to a record contract, so that is more the point im making when mentioning him. Wolf did trade a 1st for Favre and other premium picks for guys like Santana Dotson so the blueprint is there for Gute to follow.

It's not very often that guys like Hendrickson become available via trade and even less often for a guy like Parsons whos only 26 years old. So I say, pull the trigger on one of them if there truly is a sense of urgency in Green Bay this season.

If we wanted to win a SB, it's Parsons and Scary Terry for me. We have K.Clark and Jenkins timing out pretty soon for $$. Terry as #1 WR, and Golden a future #1 at the same time as well as Kraft, Jacobs and #11 make a great core. Parsons a dynamic DE....

I don’t expect it to happen.

Of course, I remember that I felt the same way about Khalil Mack and a couple years later found out we actually were pretty close and the interest was real. Ya, never know.

I think picks plus sallary is too much for Hendrickson, because of age factor. For Parsons I would be ok for reasonable price. I am ok ok with high contract for Parsons, but I think that Dallas doesn’t want to trade him.
If I remember correctly about Mack, Oakland traded him to Bears because of the higher picks

...traded on the assumption that they'd receive better draft picks than what they'd've gotten from GB. As irony would have it, I think the Pack ended up doing worse than da Bears that year and Oakland would've gotten better picks.

Irony Part II: One of the picks the Raiders received from the Bears for Mack ended up being....wait for it...wait...Josh Jacobs, current Packer!
