Greene-r Pastures

The Packer's have announced the signing of former NFL superstar Kevin Greene to the position of outside linebackers coach. I don't know his coaching resume, but as a player this guy was a stud.

His resume reads like a who's who of sack machine greatness.

A player in the same Dom Capers 3-4, if he can do half of what he did on the field in his new role as coach, we will be happy fans next year.

I might be naive, but anyone with their own action-figure excites me as a hire.

I like the trend we're seeing. Now make peppers a carolina alumnus and bring him here.

Very cool. When Capers was hired and it was announced that the Packers were going with a 3-4, I compared Kampman to Greene, because Greene is an example of an OLB who excelled in this system almost strictly as a pass rusher. I can't think of anyone more perfect to coach Aaron Kampman in this scheme.

I think he will bring some serious fire to a fireless bunch.

"I played four years with Dom, two in Pittsburgh and two in Carolina," Greene said. "Two of those years I led the NFL in sacks. We were always very productive with our 3-4 blitz scheme. I was really thrilled to interview for the job. I'm very familiar with what he's trying to implement.

"I'm just fired up. I played fired up as you probably know. I played with passion and desire. I have 15 years of on-field experience and my knowledge of how to play this position is second to none."

Greene said the defense won't be exactly the same as it was in Pittsburgh or Carolina.

"It's probably a safe bet that it will be a combination of things," Greene said. "It will be some stuff I played under and some stuff that I can't say, stuff Dom doesn't want to tip his hand about yet. It's going to be right up my alley. It's going to be good stuff."

Sweet.

I'll always remember Greene as the bitter enemy of former tag team partner of Steve McMichael! Oh those were the days!
