There's So Much More

I don't really know what to say. Sometime between noon and five o'clock this evening I lost my desire for Packer football.  They say domestic violence increases in the State of Wisconsin after a loss.

I don't really know what to say. Sometime between noon and five o'clock this evening I lost my desire for Packer football.  They say domestic violence increases in the State of Wisconsin after a loss.

I can see why.

Perhaps I am a pessimist by nature, but today's display by the team that leads my heartstrings, has left me shallow, uninspired, and plenty worried about the future of the season.

It never seemed like this as a kid. We watched the games, we cheered win or lose, and no matter the outcome we usually ended up outside throwing the football and re-creating what we had just witnessed.

Oh how the times have changed.  Nowadays my afternoons are spent swearing, sulking, and generally withdrawing after witnessing a performance like we saw against the Buccaneers.

There have been other questions posed on this site so I feel no need to break down the lowlights of this afternoon's game. What I do need to do is realize that a game is exactly what this is.

Say it out loud, "It's just a game."

No matter what happens the sun will come up tomorrow, I will go about my daily to-do-list, and the globe will keep spinning as it always has.

It won't be a pleasant week, but it will be a week just the same. I promises to remind myself of the fact at every turn.

There will be a game next weekend, I will gather with friends as I always have, and cheer my team as I always do.

What I won't do is let it wreck my day anymore.

I have a feeling it's not going to be worth it this year.
