49ers LB Ahmad Brooks Out With Lacerated Kidney

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks' bruised ribs turned out to be a lacerated kidney, Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports.

Brooks will miss at least two weeks, at which time he'll be reevaluated.

After playing in 13 games during the first three seasons of his NFL career, the former Supplemental Draft choice (3rd round, 2006, Cincinnati) appeared in 14 games for the 49ers in 2009, posting 21 tackles, including a career-high six quarterback sacks with five forced fumbles as a pass-rush specialist.

A restricted free agent this off-season, Brooks signed a two-year contract extension. The 6-3, 260-pound Brooks is behind Manny Lawson and Parys Haralson on the 49ers' depth chart, but is expected to push for more playing time this summer.
