49ers Sign Anthony Davis, Navorro Bowman

The San Francisco 49ers have signed first-round offensive tackle Anthony Davis and third-round linebacker Navorro Bowman, ESPN's Adam Schefte reports.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

A three-year starter at Rutgers, Davis started the last two seasons at left tackle after starting for much of his freshman year at right guard. Davis was first-team All-Big East in 2008 and 2009, and was a second-team All-American after last season.

The 11th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, Davis is projected to start at right tackle for the 49ers this season.

Bowman was a two-year starter at Penn State, totaling 215 tackles, including 36 for a loss and 8 quarterback sacks for the Nittany Lions.

The 6-0, 242-pound Bowman added three interceptions, returning one 73 yards for a touchdown against Indiana last season. Bowman was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, and declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season.

In San Francisco, Bowman is expected to compete with Scott McKillop for reps at the “Ted” inside linebacker position, and should see plenty of playing time with starter Takeo Spikes expected to be limited in training camp and the pre-season. Bowman will be a core member of the 49ers’ special teams units.

Both players are represented by Drew Rosenhaus.

With Davis and Bowman signed, the 49ers have first-round guard Mike Iupati and second-round safety Taylor Mays left to sign.
