Bears Release DE Charles Grant

The Chicago Bears have released veteran defensive end Charles Grant, Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Grant was signed by the Bears on October 5, but did not appear in any of the two games he was on the 53-man roster.

Grant (6-3, 290) was a first-round pick (25th overall) out of Georgia by the New Orleans Saints in 2002. In 118 career games, Grant totaled 423 tackles, including 47 quarterback sacks, with 16 forced fumbles and an interception.

Prior to signing with the Bears, Grant played for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks.
