Bills RBs Jackson, Lynch Injured in Pre-Season Opener

Buffalo Bills running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch both came down with injuries during Friday night's pre-season loss to the Washington Redskins.

Jackson may have broken his left hand, and Bills head coach Chan Gailey expects his starting running back to miss the pre-season.

"We hope to be able to get him back for the first game," Gailey said of Jackson, "(but we're) not sure."

Lynch replaced Jackson on the Bills' first offensive series, and left the game with an injured ankle.

"When we lost those two guys we lost an awful lot of stuff we were trying to do in this ball game," Gailey said. "Those of you who watch practice saw a lot of the two tailback stuff and we were trying to use that quite a bit tonight. That kind of went out the gate when those two guys went down."

Jackson had two carries for 11 yards, and Lynch caught a 12-yard pass. Their early exits gave Chad Simpson (7-67), and rookies C.J. Spiller (4-16) and Joique Bell (5-52-1; 2-6-0 out of the backfield) more playing time in the 42-17 loss.
