Bills Sign QB Levi Brown

To fill the roster spot vacated when quarterback Trent Edwards was waived on Monday, the Buffalo Bills have re-signed quarterback Levi Brown to the 53-man roster.

A seventh-round pick (209th overall) out of Troy in April, Brown completed 15-of-30 pass attempts for 130 yards and a pair of interceptions during the pre-season.

The Bills waived Brown on September 4.

Brown began his college career at Richmond before transferring to Troy after the 2006 season. After red-shirting in 2007, Brown started the next two seasons, completing 62.8% of his 830 pass attempts for 6,284 yards, with 38 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Brown was named the Sun Belt Conference "Newcomer of the Year" in 2008, and last season won conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors. The 6-3, 229-pound Brown has a strong, accurate arm, and excellent mobility, but is considered to be a bit of a project coming out of a spread offense in college.

With the moves this week, it appears as though Ryan Fitzpatrick the likely starter for the remainder of the season, with Brian Brohm the top back-up and Brown the third "emergency" quarterback.
