Bills Will Be Searching For Tight End Help

With Shawn Nelson suspended the first four games of the 2010 season, and Derek Schouman sidelined with an undisclosed injury, Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey says the team is on the lookout for tight end help.

"We're checking out everything," Gailey said on Saturday. "Buddy's (Nix) looking for everybody that's out there and available, and we're going to try to make a good decision about who to come in here and be a part of this thing."

A seventh-round pick out of Boise State, Schouman has started 15 of 21 games for the Bills over the last three seasons. Ankle and knee injuries ended his 2007 and 2009 seasons.

"Schouman is going to be out for awhile," said Gailey. "I don't know how long, but he's going to be out for awhile. Guy can't get a break, just can't stay on the field. He's not getting enough reps, he's got a lot of making up to do when he gets back, but it's going to be, I don't know, anywhere from three to six (weeks)"

Gailey also addressed the Nelson suspension.

"I always hate when that kind of situation happens," Gailey said. "You hate it for your football team, and you hate it for the individual involved. That's part of our process today. You have to go by the rules, and you pay for it when you don't."

Gailey added that linebacker Reggie Torbor, who was injured in the game Thursday night, will miss about three weeks.
