When the Cleveland Browns begin their "Organized Team Activity" sessions, restricted free agent safety Abe Elam is unlikely to be in attendance, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Elam has yet to sign his one-year tender, which carries a $1.759 million dollar base salary for 2010.

Acquired last April from the New York Jets, Elam started 16 games for the Browns last season, leading the team with 89 tackles. Elam added a quarterback sack, forced fumble, and a pair of pass break-ups, and is scheduled to start at free safety next season, and help 2010 second-round pick T.J. Ward get acclimated to the NFL.

Elam is looking for more of a commitment from the Browns.

"I was tendered at second round level by the Browns but at this point I am weighing my options in hopes of receiving a multi-year deal," Elam said on his official website. "I am praying everything works out for the best. As of right now my focus is on training and continuing to improve as a player."

In 60 career games, including 33 starts, for the Browns, Jets, and Dallas Cowboys, Elam has 226 tackles, 3 quarterback sacks, and one interception, which he returned 92 yards for a touchdown.

Elam began his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2005.

The Browns have 11 voluntary OTA sessions scheduled for this off-season, with on-field workouts scheduled for May 17-19, May 24-25, May 27, June 1-3, and June 7. The Browns also have a three-day mandatory veteran mini-camp scheduled for June 10-12.
