Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has been suspended for one game by the National Football League for violating the league's personal conduct policy, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Talib was arrested on August 19 after assaulting a Tampa cab driver who was transporting Talib from a St. Petersburg club to his Tampa hotel room. Talib settled out of court with the cab driver, who says he has no animosity towards Talib and hopes he doesn't face criminal charges. Talib was placed in a pre-trial intervention program, which if completed, will likely result in the charges being dropped.

Schefter adds that the Buccaneers appealed the suspension, which was denied.

"Since last fall, Aqib has done all that's been asked of him and more, on and especially off the field," Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement released by the team. "We look forward to his return to the field in Week 2."

In addition to the one-game suspension Talib will be docked an additional game check, meaning his suspension will cost him $166,765 in base salary this season.
