Buccaneers LB Barrett Ruud Signs RFA Tender

Tampa Bay Buccaneers restricted free agent linebacker Barrett Ruud has signed his one-year tender, Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times reports.

A 2005 second-round pick (36th overall) out of Nebraska, Ruud was tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level, the highest tender possible, which will pay Ruud $3.268 million dollars in base salary.

Since being drafted, Ruud has missed just one game in his five-year career, and became a full-time starter in the middle of the Buccaneers' defense in 2007, where he earned NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors in September. Overall, Ruud has started 52 of his 79 career games, and has totaled 467 tackles, 3 quarterback sacks, and 5 interceptions.

Despite leading the team in tackles in the last three years, including a career-high 143 last season, long-term contract talks between Ruud and the Buccaneers appear at a standstill.
