Buccaneers Sign 6th Round P Brent Bowden

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing sixth-round punter Brent Bowden.

To make room for Bowden on the 80-man off-season roster, veteran wide receiver Mark Bradley was released.

Bowden (6-3, 202) handled the punting duties at Virginia Tech over the last three seasons, posting a net punting average of 36.4 yards per punt. A right-footed directional punter, Bowden put 72 of his 214 career punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

Bowden, who also served as the Hokies' holder on field goals and extra points, was named first-team All-ACC after the 2009 season.

Bowden is currently the only punter on the Buccaneers' roster, and the job will be his to lose during training camp.

Bradley, 28, caught 24 passes for 320 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, but was waived in Week 16 and claimed by the Buccaneers.

Bradley has yet to appear in a game for Tampa Bay, but was ineligible for unrestricted free agency and was tendered at the second-round level this off-season. Bradley had signed his non-guaranteed tender.
