Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed restricted free agent left tackle Donald Penn to a six-year, $43 million dollar contract extension.

How much of that $43 million is guaranteed remains unknown, but the contract appears to be identical in length and total value to the contract signed by Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Michael Roos in 2008.

Roos' contract contained $15 million in guarantees, and $20.5 million dollars was paid out over the all-important first three years of the deal.

An undrafted free agent out of Utah State, Penn (6-5, 305) has started 44 straight games at left tackle for the Buccaneers, who signed him off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad in 2006. Had Penn played out the season under the one-year restricted free agent tender, he would have earned $3.071 million in base salary.

The Buccaneers will need to make two roster moves to accommodate the signings.
