The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of fifth-round quarterback John Skelton.

Skelton's four-year deal is believed to be worth $1.972 million dollars.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Skelton started 41 of his 43 games at Fordham University, where he completed 58.8% of his 1,363 pass attempts for 9,923 yards, with 69 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.

Skelton is Fordham’s all-time leader in pass attempts, yards, and touchdowns, and also set the Patriot League record for all-time passing yardage.

At 6-5 and 243 pounds, Skelton has prototype NFL size with a strong, accurate arm, and will be a quarterback that Ken Whisenhunt can develop behind Matt Leinart and Derek Anderson.

Skelton is the third Cardinals draft pick in 2010 to sign a contract. Safety Herana-Daze Jones was released to fit Skelton on the 80-man roster.
