Chester Pitts Visits the Bills

Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports that free agent guard Chester Pitts is visiting the Buffalo Bills today.

Pitts has spent his entire NFL career with the Houston Texans, who selected him in the second-round in the 2002 NFL Draft. The 31-year old Pitts is coming off a knee injury that ended his 2009 season, as well as his streak of 114 consecutive starts.

The 6-4, 308-pound Pitts recently received medical clearance to return to the field, and worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts in Arizona. Pitts had previously drawn interest from the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Detroit Lions. The Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles were monitoring his recovery from knee surgery, but have indicated that they're not interested in signing Pitts at this point in time.

Pitts would improve the depth of the Bills' interior offensive line, which current has Geoff Hangartner as the starting center, flanked on both sides by second-year players Eric Wood and Andy Levitre.

Wood, a first-round pick in 2009, is expected to be the team's center of the future. Wood missed the last quarter of his rookie season with a fractured leg.
