Chiefs LS Thomas Gafford Signs 2-Year Extension

Kansas City Chiefs long-snapper Thomas Gafford has signed a two-year contract extension, Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star reports.

Originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston in 2006, Gafford had brief stints with the Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Chicago Bears before signing with the Chiefs midway through the 2008 season.

Gafford has handled the Chiefs' snapping duties for the last 36 games, and is earning a $470,000 salary in his third season in the NFL, that remains unchanged..

According to NFLPA records, Gafford is now signed through the 2012 season, and will earn base salaries of $555,000 (2011) and $650,000 (2012) as part of his extension.
